does anybody knows if there is some episode about the "afterlife"? do they consider that death is the end of existence? (in Star Wars is not, for instance) There's no talk about that in all the episodes I've watched, maybe it is deliberately a topic they wished not to talk about, but I think it's strange that ST avoids any topic...
I'll have to ponder on that one! I can't remember for sure if they did or not! I did recently find this although... "Tribbles" was used by scientists to name certain proteins in the life cycle of fruit flies! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tribble

There's a ghost-like creature in "And the Children Shall Lead" (original series) That's all I can think of right now.

I've done some research and there's a moment particularty dedicated to "what is death". Is from that episode (Where Silence Has Lease) where some kind of being gets inside Data and has this talk with Picard: http://en.memory-alpha.org/wiki/Where_Silence_Has_Lease_(episode) "I have a question, sir." "Yes Data, what is it?" "What is death?" "Oh, is that all? Oh, Data, you're asking probably the most difficult of all questions. Some see it as a changing into an indestructible form, forever unchanging; they believe that the purpose of the entire universe is to maintain that form in an earth-like garden which will give delight and pleasure through all eternity. On the other hand, there are those who hold to the idea of our blinking into nothingness. That all of our experiences and hopes and dreams, merely a delusion." "Which do you believe, sir?" "Considering the marvelous complexity of the universe, its clockwork perfection, its balances of this against that, matter, energy, gravitation, time, dimension, I believe that our existence must be more than either of these philosophies. That what we are goes beyond Euclidean or other "practical" measuring systems, and that our existence is part of a reality beyond what we understand now as reality." - Nagilum as Data and the real Picard

It seems that tribbles and fruit flies are even more prolific than rabbits!

Watched one tonight that I haven't seen for ages that might fit the category. It was about the life force that took over the pretty female character named romain (who grew to share a mutual love interest with scotty). The life force was a colorful flashing energy field made up of ten long departed spirits looking for a suitable host to resurrect themselves within.

I recently have watched 'Spectre of the Gun' but it wasn't about spectres, the end it's pretty much 'The Matrix' before 'The Matrix' just like the episode 'The Ultimate Computer' is pretty much HAL 9000 on 2001 before the movie 2001, A Space Oddissey. 'The Changeling' is the one The Motion Picture was based on. The Tribbles is Star Trek doing self-parody, laughing at itself. My favs of Season 2 of TOS: 1 Return To Tomorrow 2 The Changeling 3 The Trouble With Tribbles 4 Patterns Of Force 5 By Any Other Name 6 Who Mourns For Adonais? 7 The Ultimate Computer 8 I, Mudd 9 Assignment: Earth 10 Wolf In The Fold 11 Journey To Babel 12 A Private Little War 13 Mirror, Mirror

I loved 'Mirror, Mirror'!! The used that same alternate universe in Deep Space Nine and The Next Gen, didn't they?

I know they used it again but I don't know when.

well, you know I like Star Trek, especially TOS, especially Captain Kirk, William Shatner and I like Queen, especially Bohemian Rhapsody, especially Freddie Mercury then the logical thing is I would like this William Shatner - Bohemian Rhapsody
but that's only the logical thing... not the real thing I guess, deep inside, this would be Spock's favourite song The Logical Song I also find something quite funny http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Future_Birthplace_of_Captain_James_T_Kirk.jpg -
Here I come with my fav episodes of the 3rd season of The Original Series: 1 Plato's Stepchildren 2 Spectre of the Gun 3 The Savage Curtain 4 The Enterprise Incident 5 Requiem for Methuselah 6 Turnabout Intruder 7 The Paradise Syndrome 8 Day of the Dove 9 The Mark of Gideon 10 The Cloud Minders
-
And here are my fav episodes of all the Original Series. I must say that I don't think that viewing the best chapters of Star Trek can capture what it is or so. It's more about aaall the topics they treat. For instance the episode I've liked the less was "The Alternative Factor" who still is a plot about 2 different universes or so... 1 The Menagerie 2 Plato's Stepchildren 3 The Return of the Archons 4 Return To Tomorrow 5 The Changeling 6 The City On The Edge Of Forever 7 The Trouble With Tribbles 8 The Savage Curtain 9 Spectre Of The Gun 10 The Enemy Within

Star Wars is better.
That may be the very first thing we have agreed on....
One thing we can all agree on is that Han Solo fired first.

now my fav episodes from The Next Generation Season 5. I liked a lot the first chapters but then not so much the rest... I was dissapointed with "The Inner Light" often said to be the deepest chapter of all Star Trek series and one of the highest rated episodes. 1 The Game 2 Darmok 3 Cause And Effect 4 The Perfect Mate 5 Unification (2 parts) 6 Disaster 7 Time's Arrow (2 parts, on Season 5 and 6) 8 Silicon Avatar 9 Redemption (2 parts, on Season 4 and 5)
-
And here I come with my fav episodes of Season 6 of TNG. The new Star Trek's movie has topped the box office in the USA. And it's also the only 2013 movie intro imdb.com Top 250 highest rated movies ever. So it looks like interest in Star Trek is not fading at all. Season 6 1 Ship In A Bottle 2 Tapestry 3 Lessons 4 A Fistful of Datas 5 Time's Arrow (2 parts, on Season 5 and 6) 6 Descent (2 parts, on Season 6 and 7) 7 Chain Of Command 8 The Quality Of Life 9 The Chase 10 Birthright 11 True Q 12 Relics
