what do you think of Dogs

My dog is scheduled for surgery tomorrow ..... Had to tell the Vet that we go to .... I could not pay as wanted ..... $$$ in a short time ..... I like the person ...... but they did not offer an easier payment plan ... Found another Vet who will do the surgery and divide the payments .... I feel bad that I had to have my dog wait longer than he should have in this condition (Although he has had a good supply of meds) ..... Not a lot I can do for him tomorrow other than worry ...... I hope it all works out and helps him ... there will be a lot of care after all this

Oh Fool! So sorry to hear this. I sure hope he feels better after the surgery. Vets are so expensive. I wanted to find another for my new dog. The vet is the one I've had for 25 years so they know me & my dogs. I probably paid for that new wing.
But anyway...hope all goes well. You & your pup will be in our thoughts & prayers.

Our Aussie came thisclose to getting on the school bus with our kid the other day!

I just saw my dog now... He got through surgery okay. Poor thing has staples, shaved leg, and has to wear a cone
I will have to make lots of adjustments. No stairs, no getting on anything like the furniture or bed .... Etc... And walk him on a leash.... Create a bed and room area for him. It was sad to see him like this And glad to know he had it done. He comes home tomorrow afternoon.
-
So glad he made it through the surgery! YAY!!! I hope he is back to his old self in no time. What leg was the torn ligamen on? Post a pic of his cone if you get a chance. Poor baby.

The_Fool, I am happy to hear your dog came out of surgery and is on the mend. I am sure all will be okay with your loving touch taking care of him.

[quote="oobu24"][img] I think my dog is missing this other dog (Leonard) that he used to beat up...ummm...play with. So now he has taken up jumping at us when he wants to play in the yard.
I think he may have a bit too much energy! LOL. I need to watch some youtubes of Cesar Milan training his pack. He's doing really well with other tricks though. He can already do about face, paw, down, crawl.

All 3 of our dogs love our little granddaughters & like to give them big, wet doggie kisses!

Fool...how is your dog feeling? I hope he's taking it easy.

Thanks for asking ..... they estimate 8 weeks of time ... Lots of time in the beginning ..... where I walk him 5 minutes ... lightly massage the area and put the leg through the motions .... he is starting to already walk on it ... and then you can tell he either takes all pressure off it or lays down. Then after therapy it gets iced down. (3-4 times a day). I take the cone off him when I can watch that he does not go after the staples ~15 of 'em. He does not like being in that small room (he is barking as I type) ..... I have been woken up in the morning with his barking ..... like the Ever-eady bunny he does not stop barking. I tried to read or do something like television where he can just be there and lay on the ground or the carpet. I tried to put blankets and comfort things down .... but he doesn't lay on them at all. The staples come out in a few weeks. He doesn't like this one bit and says this is not what I signed up for ..... I was trying to actually have a small break from him ..... there are stairs where I am .. and it is not working ... he is yip yip yipping ..... I don't like this kind of yipping ... not a bark or howl ...... so I will see him in minutes ... lots of time getting him through this (People go through a lot of therapy and so does a dog .... right now I am the therapist and hope that I am helping). He wants to do what he always has done .... full use of the house ..... running and zig zagging etc .... jumping on the furniture and bed ..... and here I am stopping him from what he always used to do. even when he looks like he is getting better .... I probably won't do the walks the way that I used to ..... the play and jumping through the hose spray etc ..... it is a change for him and me right now .....
Some of it is plain and simply ..... time.

I love dogs / dogs love me.

awww...poor baby...both of you!
Sounds like a lot of extra work. Which leg was it? A front or rear? They can't understand why things are happening...thus the yipping. I felt like I had a lot of extra work to do when I just had to give Lucy so many pills. And all it was was figuring out the schedule & sticking (or remembering) to it. And at least she liked the lunchmeat that I wrapped them up in. With your having to stop him from practically moving...that must be very hard. What will you do when you need to go to work? I hope he gets used to it & starts to understand that you are helping him.

That looks like my previous dog .... only one of his eyes had white hair around it
Thanks It is his left rear leg
He gets great acceleration from it too ...... There are lots of meds ...... and timing ..... this one once a day ..... this one two times a day and this one gets 1/2 two times a day ...... until this one runs out and this one is one or two depending on pain ..... I started him with two and after a week it will be one. He eats them with his food and 98% of the time he eats them ..... a few times there is a pill left ..... in this case it is given with a treat ..... Most say give with food ...... when the timing did not work out ..... I gave him a small amount of food so that I could give the pills with something to eat .... At the early age of approximately 4 he already has some arthritis
That is always going to be there now. When I am at work he will be in the smaller room.
Early therapy ... I am more concerned about him cry whining all day. I was hoping he would slightly adapt and sleep sometimes ..... such is not the case right now.
-
I bet he'll sleep while you are at work. But he will probably go crazy when you come home & let him out. Maybe leave a chewy with him to keep him busy.
