Bali is great. The swimming pool in our villa looked nothing like this. It was a regular pool. But it was private. Views looking out from the pool are great, but it's even better when no one has a view looking in.

Have always wanted to go to Versailles

Those shots are great, but it looks so much better in person. I went in April and the gardens could not have been more beautiful.

I've always heard about the gardens! I've wanted to go since I saw Grace Kelly do a tour on TV when I was young.

Thanks so much Hailey! I've not been able to master resizing on my iPad Acapulco hotel where every room has a pool with floating hibiscus. My family stayed here before a cruise. It's got beautiful night views of the bay. Thank You Hailey! I have some type of connection to Venice... Some day I'm going to rent a boat and drive through all the canals, taking photos like this. Photos of the stairs going down under water, close ups with a really good zoom lens, or the things we can't get close to, like the Gold mosaics in St. Marks, or the spires, or the clock. I love the drone footage flying over Venice!
http://writtenfyi.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/The-Lion-of-Venice-St-Marks-Basilica-0120.jpg I'm sure there's steps under this water I wonder what is the cost of flood insurance in Venice? Those bricks are looking a bit crumbly... [/url] -
I've never been to Venice, but I guess I should go while it's still there. It seems like the kind of place that might be too crowded, though.

If you go, make sure to stay in Venice and early morning before the trains and onslaught of tourists arrive, or later in the evening are good times to see it without the throngs. Have also found that even during peak hours, you can go a couple of streets in, off the tourist trail and the sidewalks will be quite empty! The Hidden Venice... http://tmagazine.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/05/31/hidden-venice/ http://theculturetrip.com/europe/italy/articles/venice-s-10-best-kept-secrets-a-city-unlocked/ http://www.theguardian.com/travel/2012/aug/29/venice-that-tourists-miss-cannaregio It's quite amazing! In the rainy season tho, bring tall boots! You don't want to get wet with the canal water
-
If I went to Venice, wouldn't I be in Venice morning, noon and night? I like to stay in hotels that are close to the action, so if it's crowded, I will be in the crowd. That's something I love about Amsterdam. You can be a few blocks away from the Dam, which is always crowded, and feel like you're in a small village.
-
For both of those cities you could stay in a hotel on a canal! Or take a boat, for a beautiful ride. They are the same crowd wise and no crowds if you want that... Two really great cities! Meeting places of the world and good places to sit in an outdoor cafe and people watch!
-
I think if I have to choose between canals, I'd go with Amsterdam. They don't flood and force you to wear boots.
