what do you think of Dogs
-
aww...so sorry Kittay. Did they say how long it could be? I remember my vet kept mentioning "quality of life" & I finally said why do you keep saying that??? She said she just wanted to prepare me. Nothing can prepare you.
You & yours are still in my thoughts & prayers.

Well I am going by there asap. But she just said for now is acting healthy and happy and full of energy. She suggested the next surgeries so I am thinking she is thinking be might have some decent happy times left. My black lab Yao, who died July 25, 2013 the vet and I did the best by him until his dignity and quality of life was low. (There is a scientific list somewhere I will post that is like a check list to see if your loved one should be let go to the rainbow bridge or not.) and I was with Yao till the end. So I will do the best by Rocketman too. Thank you for the prayers.

I hope he lives a long(er) & happy life!

So I finally saw Rocketman this early evening. He is eating well, pulling me all around and full of life! The doctor said she had a lab once who had the same cancer in his chest and her dog lived for 2 years. They just don't know. But again thank you for all your love and prayers everyone who is reading. I have composed myself and will make the best of it. Peace and Love!

Our neighbor's nasty rottie was put down recently. That dog terrorized everyone but I still feel bad for them. They've now got a pit bull/lab mix puppy named Archie. The puppy seems very docile & is quiet. so far.

I met a friendly golden retriever at the rental truck place today. He let me shake his hand.

Our dogs know exactly when it's treat time!

I wonder how many days of firecrackers are left.
Someone is lighting them off here already.

Time to get out Winston's Thundercoat tonight and tomorrow or he'll be a basket case, poor guy.

Fireworks are so traumatic for animals!
I saw Rocketman yesterday. He won't be ready to leave until next Tuesday. He still has that horrible cancer BUT he looked so happy and healthy!!! He was acting a fool and it was great! Can't wait till he can come be with us!
Good luck to comforting the sweet animals with the fireworks.

Some twits already started shooting off fireworks last nite. Our poor Aussie came up on the swing with me (our outdoor living room is completely screened in) & was shivering & trembling, even tho' I had him covered up with a throw & was hugging & petting him.

Winston has his Thundershirt on and is ready to take on the fireworks!

I'm surprised that Willy wasn't too scared. He was more startled everytime he heard a firecracker than scared. We found out why the people across the street were cleaning up so much... for weeks they were cutting, planting, fertilizing. Then I saw a porta potty out there yesterday & thought...oh oh. There are still tents set up & cars parked in the grass (their grass thankfully). They must have spent a fortune on fireworks. OMG! They even had the good M80s. THAT was really loud. We had anticipated this so we closed the windows & put the air on so it wouldn't bother the dog all nite. I hope they won't continue today.

Winston did really well last night! The Thundershirt really does help him a great deal, he slept through a lot of the noise. Hopefully your neighbors will not pick up their fireworks display again tonight!

Thank goodness they dispersed! So the thundershirt works. I've just learned about a thunderleash and/or harness.

Yes, helps him a lot. Plan on using it again this coming weekend when the air conditioning/heating system is being replaced, as he will most certainly be stressed during all that. I've heard of the leash as well, wonder if that works like the shirt.
-
^ One of my friends swears by the leash but it seems like the "Easy Walk" harness is somewhat working on Willy. He came with it on so he is used to it. It pulls from the front & distracts them from where they were wanting to go. The thunderleash wraps around the chest.
