what do you think of Dogs

SurSteven:
Xylitol sweetener dangerous and deadly for dogs! Just heard this on tv earlier. It is found in chewing gum and other products. http://philadelphia.cbslocal.com/2015/11/04/dog-owners-sweetener-in-some-sugarless-gums-can-be-deadly-for-dogs/
Chewing gum? Mine only likes double bubble. LOL. Thanks though...I bet it may be in peanut butter light. I looked at mine & it's ok. Odd how something can be deadly for them & ok for us. Thanks SS.

Thanks. It is also in the mouthwash, chewing gum and mints that you buy for dry mouth. Biotene is the name or generic brands.

After 7 months my dog finally came down the basement stairs. LOL. Now I wish he hadn't.

Looking forward to taking all 3 of our dogs to see Santa Paws next month. The money from the proceeds of the photos goes directly to animal charities.

Orvis has "Sleeps With Dogs" nightshirts on sale for $27.50 right now. Free shipping with their credit card. Have wanted one of those for a while. Ordered two. One for a gift. Stoked! Oobu, glad to hear your boy finally decided to go downstairs, or maybe not? What does he do down there?
-
We have multiple levels (tri level)so now that he goes downstairs it's just another level where I have to look for him. He got a little beat up by a pitbull the other day. Got a little ugly but he is ok & wasn't hurt. Not going to the dog park much anymore.
-
My birds would say in their own way birds rule love doris
-
Oh too bad that happened. Glad he's all right.
-
Some guy kicked the pitbull to get him off of Willy.
-
I read an article recently about how dog parks can stress dogs out. Something about the scent of SO many dogs and alpha instincts, etc.
-
They probably are stressed. At this park there is a gate to go through & all the dogs gather when a new dog approaches. If you can make it through the gate you should get a gold star. I always go & grab Willy if there are too many dogs there...just to let the new guy in. I do enjoy watching them interact. Funny how they are like people...you click with some & not with others...same in the dog world.

^^ a gold star? That is a cute story. Happy Willy is doing well. Rocketman update: a few weeks ago Rocketman kind of went faint/collapsed but not unconscious at my feet. I freaked out and thought it was the bad cancer got to him. After giving him water and holding him he was fine. I took him to another vet. He asked for Rocketman's histopathology report from Auburn so he could see what the cancer report had been from the tumor the other vet removed. I got it myself. Then I took Rocketman to this new vet. He scanned him and said even though the histopath said he had malignant sarcoma he didn't see it at all. BUT that he had congestive heart failure! So he is now on heart medicine one pill a day. Antibiotics and pain medicine as needed. Moral to story: I cannot believe that first vet didn't see the congestive heart failure. The new vet said he had had it for awhike and if he had gotten treatment sooner it wouldn't be so advanced. But! I am thankful he is doing better and we are hanging in here! Thank you for your kindness and prayers got Rocketman from everyone.️️

I just asked about Rocketman in another thread! haha...so glad to hear that he is doing better. Shame about the 1st doc. My friend had a similar experience. Her dog has cancer & the cancer vet told her to put him down. She couldn't do that & went back to her 1st vet. The 1st vet gave him diff meds & now the tumor is gone & he is doing pretty good. I guess you need 2nd opinions on dogs too.
-
^^ exactly. The first vet promised to let me make payments on Rocketman. Then she held him for ransom! Told me if I did not pay the full amount I couldn't get him' It was a very HIGH bill. So I had to pay it to get him. He has the tumors but the 2nd vet says he doesn't see malignancy. After Rocketman I won't have any more dogs for awhile. All my life I have had a dog at my side, but I cannot afford one. I will do my best by Rocketman since I believe I have a lifetime commitment to him and I love him so much. Maybe oneday on the future I will have another dog. Right now I am enjoying the last days we have together. Peace and Love.
-
^ I'll still keep him in my thoughts & prayers. I hope he has nothing but good days from now on out.
-
I am glad to see the dogs are doing fine for now ... This is a good thread to visit (Most of the time) I wished I would have gotten a second Opinion on my previous dog. The vet Was mostly honest ... As an after thought I wonder if he didn't miss something a few years during check ups. I switched Vets for my dog now. Did not want The association and memories ... I did get a second opinion on my dog Now. It cost more... But I had peace of mind and likely found a good caring Vet who gave a home phone number And even came in on a day off to See how my dog was after his surgery Seeming long ago now.
-
^ Good to see you around here Fool. Hope your dog is totally mended. Yeah...you think about past pets & now I too think maybe I should have taken her to another vet. But it was time for Lucy. She knew it. They can tell you somehow.

I'm worried because Coco and maybe Cupcake ate a brownie this afternoon. We just figured it out. My husband brought one home for me and put it on the end table. Well, then I came home and saw a napkin on the floor with two bite mark holes, lol, but didn't know why it was down there. Both dogs were sitting on the sofa with their usual cute faces. I just hope they halved it. I hope she/they don't get sick.

I think & hope it will be ok. I think it has to be more like a box of straight chocolate for the dog to be in danger. Funny how they both have chocolate names though. (I think of cupcakes as chocolate)
