Rampant police brutality in the U.S.

That's a start...we have to start demanding good news! We're not used to it, so it seems strange at first...
If people wanted it, it would happen. Networks and newspapers will say whatever the public want them to say. If enough people demanded footage of paint drying, that's what CNN would show all day.

Good news doesn't get ratings. We absolved journalists of their responsibility to inform as soon as we demanded that they entertain.
Good news draws far more viewers than not! Anything contrary is just an illusion. The Beatles are a perfect example.
The Beatles are not technically journalists.
I was talking about good news and bad news. The Beatles were a good news event and drew a lot of interest and attention. I don't believe that people are predisposed to want to see bad news more than good news.

I agree with that. I think people are more optimistic than pessimistic. But the post you quoted is specifically about journalism and the news media, not personal attitudes in general.

As for myself, I appreciate the police & the protection they offer the public. And I've gone out of my way to complement the officers in uniform. They have one of the hardest jobs on earth, and often times the least appreciated ... I do not wish to diminish the good works of the vast majority of "peace officers" because of bad example or works a very few.

That's the problem: It's not a "few." And it's an Act of Congress to see meaningful consequences for those so-called few that are caught. I don't understand all the resistance to the notion that it is possible to respect the idea of law enforcement AND acknowledge that there is major corruption throughout our police departments. __________________________________________________ I could post enough articles and YouTube videos of police brutality, theft, corruption, sexual assaults, abuse of power and downright lies that could fry this site's server. That "bad apples" argument is complete b.s. -- it's a systemic problem. And let's not forget the large numbers of police officers who have been exposed as members of the Ku Klux Klan and other hate-groups.

I think there are many more really bad, corrupt politicians in the current administration! Hating cops is only a means to sidetrack attention!

Which is worse, corrupt politicians who are owned by lobbyists? And both parties have plenty. Or corrupt police officers who are killing people?

That brings up an interesting point. Is it illegal to be involved with the KKK? Is it illegal for police to be members? If not, why not?

How many people did Hillary Clinton's e-mail kill in 2015? If people are only talking about murderous police to distract from the big bad Democrats, then the question has to be asked.

No doubt about it, there are way too many innocent people of race and color killed by the police Audi. I cannot ever unsee the little 8 year old girl who was purposely tazed by a policeman, during a raid! 8 years old!!

We have to elect progressive politicians who will wipe the corruption out. Our only hope, people.

I tend to dislike undated articles - only because some people post them "forever" (re. the first ABC article posted). The third article is loaded with spam attacks ads, etc. I wanted to read about the politicians involved with KKK membership, but I left quickly after a bombardment of spam. It's sad that anyone would still want to become a member of KKK _ no one has ever solicited me to attend a meeting. And I don't know of any members. These few got caught, fired & that's good.
