I used to think of all these far away places I wanted to live in. Switzerland, the Netherlands, somewhere in the U.K., France. At one time I was even thinking about Central America. Now I just would like a place of Peace in which to abide. Wherever on this earth that might be.

^ Switzerland is beautiful!!! Only a few times had I ever thought of visiting Switzerland and had never thought of taking up residence there. This past winter, someone sent me stunningly beautiful pictures of a particular area of Switzerland. The images were far beyond anything I had imagined - breathtaking beauty! I am certain I will visit there one day and must admit that if given an opportunity to reside there it would be quite difficult to turn down such an offer.

San Diego has the best all year round weather, Oahu's northeastern shore is beautiful with perfect weather. If I could live in one of those ancient houses with open balconies over a canal in Venice, that would be amazing. The south of France and heading over to Monaco, are all really gorgeous areas and I'd love to become fluent in French. Mykonos and Santorini were both beautiful albeit all the tourists. All the Carribbean islands are very laid back, other than Hurricane season.. Colorado is very beautiful and the mountains are amazing. Arizona had the best Mexican food and is wonderfully warm in the winter and the sandstone and cactus are so cool. The Florida Keys are pretty great, I love the light green color of the water, snorkeling with all the beautiful fish. I really love Europe for its history and art, most of all. Like skipping through pages of a history book and examining some of the best art in the world!

If I could live anywhere in the world, I actually think it would be right where I am, San Francisco (of course, were I a new arrival facing SF's insane housing costs, that would be a rather different situation). That said, places I've visited that I can completely imagine living in are Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, Amsterdam and Hilo, Hawaii -- though in the case of most of them I know I'd have some trouble adjusting to the weather.

I'm beaded to SF for a conference this spring. Hope there are good gluten-free restaurants near union square.

That's the problem with travel. The more places you see, the more places you can see yourself living. But there's only so much time.

So true, have to narrow it down to summer and winter methinks I really need to go back to Holland! I really need to explore Europe.

I vote for Holland, even though the winters don't get cold enough. Normandy is nice, too.

My fantasy is to spend the winter at a New England fishing village and write.
