Hi again JeffLynnesBeard. This trhead is whatever takes peoples fancy at that time. So for a few posts it's footbal (Soccer to our Ameircan friends). I like Gerard as a person and he's a brave man to still be doing this after his heart problems. And he's done far better than some realise. And yes we were unlucky today...as all this season in fact. But GH makes toomany errors of judgement. Bring Kenny back !! It sound as though you're in Britain so I'll bet you're typing these posts in between listening to Lennon's Jukebox on Granada...right ?> And BTW I put ELO on the Liverpool Empire 1974..or 76. When Mamabelle was released. Cheers Sam.

Yup, Kenny D. needs a job & he'd be good for Liverpool right now! I am watching Lennon's jukebox on ITV - there's an album out of the same title next week-how's that for a commercial tie in? Frankly I'd have expected more from the South Bank Show, but that's 21st Century life I suppose. Ma ma ma Belle was on their 1973 album 'On The Third Day', so I'd guess your show would have been 1974. It's amazing really - I was only born in '75 myself! (Don't mean to make you feel old - I'd much rather have been born when you were and enjoyed this music the first time round instead of in retrospective!) Did you like ELO at the time? Personally I thought they were doing something different and, in John Lennon's opinion, they were what the Beatles would have sounded like had they still been going. Don't know whether he said that tongue-in-cheek, I don't think so. Hope not! All the best, JLB.

I've searched and Mama Belle was on 1973. I don't like to say the word "underrated" but I think Elo was underrated. A lot of songs of them are just classics. And Jeff Lynne's magic reminds me of George Martin. MY fav it's "Twilight", it seems space-pop or so.
-
Hello again JLB. (That's a little easier). About 10 years after I'd booked ELO I was asked why had I booked them. I thought about it for a minute or so...and suddenly I realised that's exactly where the Beatles would have gone if they'd stayed together. And now we've got another King on John's Jukebox....Bob Dylan. Hi Oliver Nice to know you like ELO too.....and for the same reason but you didn't really know it. Right ?? Cheers Sam.
-
Hi Sam, You're welcome. You are still number 1. You have been for the past few days.I'm sorry to hear Liverpool got beat. Better luck next time. as for ELo I like their music. Don't Bring Me Down is one of my favorites. I have a cd of theirs. Sam I read different reviews of your book the Birth OF The Beatles on the internet and not one bad comment from anyone. That is good to see.
-
Hi Giri (Paulfan). Yes, it really makes me proud and happy that the only ones who don't like Birth of The Beatles (Rocking City) are two of my bitter rivals from the Merseybeat days. And the irony is that I say nice things about them ....Oh well....oh well. Cheers Sam.
-
Hello again Sam, Just checked out your website - good stuff! Will look out for your books - must admit you are one of the only Beatles writers I haven't read. JLB.
-
Hi JLB Please don't thiunk I'm touting but when you're ready e-mail me at sam@samleach.com and I'll send you a signed copy of the book. As you're in the UK it'll be 15 pounds inc postage. I'm glad you like my website but it'll take you about two hours or so to trawl through it. Cheers Sam.
-
Ha ha ha! You've caught me out! I should have said 'quick' look! I have added it to my favourites though! That email is on it's way!
-
Okay JLB. The book will go tomorrow. Let me know when it arrives. Cheers. Sam.
-

Hi Sam, IT is funny how your rivals hate you even though you say nice things about them. They must be jealous of you. I read one review where one person said he felt he was there with John,Paul,George,Ringo, and Pete. How many pages long is the book? Maybe one day I'll read it.

Starr:
Hi Samuel well i sure hope i get to see Paul and Ringo somewhere down the line, usually the don't play close enough for me to see them, Milwaukee is far, and Chicago is even further!! Hopefully soon they'll be in Madison or something that'd be perfect, even Green Bay!! I mean Cher made it to Madison and i saw her!! Fab Fab show!! Cindy Lauper opened for her!!
Hi Starr, I hope you get to see them too someday. Well, you got to see Cher, I have never seen her or Cindy Lauper either. Best, Sam C.
