The Sun, the Moon, and the Stars

This is an interesting APOD. I zoomed it on my HD monitor once and in the clouds of a supernova remnant you could see grotesque faces. Maybe hell really is reserved for the projectors of terrible evil energies? http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap130515.html

. I saw those faces...very strange! Have seen those selfies of the Rover. Have been trying to figure out if it's an arm off camera, that's taking those photos?
-
It is very strange. Am not sure how they get those 360 selfies with the rovers. Here's a cool interplanetary vacation suggestion from APOD today. EUROPA...Discover Life Under The Ice http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap160401.html

Those posters are way cool Ceres, last chance for water until Jupiter You would have to live underwater there. It would be over 32° underwater... with less gravity if it's smaller than our moon.... Too much radiation from Jupiter though! Made me think of the water world in Interstellar...

Those are both excellent videos on Europa!!!

WLM A dwarf galaxy out in the lonely wilderness of our local super group of galaxies. Look at all of the new forming blue stars near the center and the older yellowish ones like ours in the periphery. You can click on the pic and zoom in. Beyond Amazing! http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/image/1604/eso1610a_WLMgalaxy.jpg

Cassini begins travelling in and out between Saturn and it's rings later this year taking pics and gathering data. http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap160410.html

The blue Iris is false color, no? Wow, the sun is shooting out some coronal solar flares!
-
^ Do I have to read everything for you as well??? "Normally, this corona is hard to track far from the Sun, but the featured montage matches it to false-colored observations of the Sun from NASA and ESA's space-based, Sun-orbiting, Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO). Observations like this allow the study of the constantly changing magnetic activity both near and far from the Sun, the same activity that ultimately drives Earth's auroras." Now, if the iris were medium green with yellow sunrays coming out from 360 degrees around the pupil...then they would be mine. It is an example how the patterns of nature are everywhere. Our earth has blue skies, blue oceans and green forests and brown earth as dominate colors...which also... are the 3 basic human eye colors.
-
^ I thought that's what it said... just needed verification

Yes, not only is this Totally Amazing... it is sooooo incredibly, mind bogglingly, almost incomprehensibly magnificent... I was waiting until I could look at this on a computer, it wouldn't expand on the iPad. This went on the desktop... for times of worries, or just a reality check, in the scheme of things, they are minuscule, a drop of water on the Blue Blue Planet. Seeing this makes me think of being out with my Dad and us looking up to the heavens, and his pointing out constellations to me. Thanks for posting this!! Way Cool!!
-
Do you see the Horsehead Nebula? This is so beautiful. http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap160413.html Here's a better perspective with the constellation showing up when your curser rests over the photo. http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap101023.html This was always my favorite constellation when I was very young. I always was so mystified with the visible nebula in Orion. I guess many people on Earth, felt a tug towards this constellation!
-
Orion is mentioned a lot in ancient folklore. Great stuff! Yes...I agree that it is pretty interesting how Stephen is now gung ho about heading to alpha centauri to photograph our galactic alien neighbors! Need to search more of the details on that! Very Cool! Here's a lot of good info on it! A postage stamp sized spacecraft chip with a "sail" that we "blow" to alpha centauri with an earthbound laser which will push it up to 20% of the speed of light. 134.2 million miles an hour!!! Way Cool!!!

This is incredibly exciting news, isn't it!!! Far Out Here's a good video! http://www.livescience.com/54383-20-percent-light-speed-to-alpha-centauri-nanocraft-concept-unveiled-video.html

Excellent L2T!!! That is the definitive vid to watch about it. It explains and clarifies everything!

Heard on the news last night that dwarf planet Makemake in the Kuiper Belt has a newly discovered moon (by Hubble ST) orbiting it that is around 100 miles in diameter. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Makemake

I think Jeff Lynne had that in his video Wondering how those stamps are going to navigate through that Kuiper Belt?

You have me wondering now, what trajectory will be used for these space "chips"???
