Someday, that may be true, but today, this election, either a Democrat or a Republican is going to win. I wish it wasn't true. I would much rather see someone else as President.
Only because most voters do what they're told. Other parties winning elections isn't a pie in the sky wild fantasy that can only come true in the distant future. All people have to do is vote.

Now, if he declared himself a Carlton supporter, things might be different! (Carlton being the nemesis of the team I support in Football) Some things are more important than politics.
A lot of things are more important than politics, but in the United States, people let their subjective political opinions dominate their lives. We just had an election in Hong Kong. The debate was lively and opposing sides really got into it. The pro-Beijing and pro-independence sides have serious differences with life altering consequences. But at the end of the day, everyone votes and gets on with their lives. In the United States, you have two parties that are essentially the same, compared to parties in other countries. There are other parties, but the media ignores them, so most Americans don't know about them. In most elections, the candidates have very few differences, but people get riled up about how great their guy is and how evil the other guy is. American voters are very much like football fans.

Democrats are thought of as a left wing liberal party by Republicans and Conservatives. We have 2 candidates running that are more liberal inclined and are taking 12% of the votes away from Democrat Hillary. These people are only screwing themselves because they are running the risk of allowing Republican and Conservative thinking into office, which is absolutely NON-SUPPORTIVE of their Liberal hopes. We have 2 Candidates running. Hillary and Trump. If you want Trump to win. Vote for Trump. OR, Vote For Anyone Other Than Hillary. Liberals and Green Party Voters Will Only Screw Themselves Completely If They Allow Trump To Get Into Office.
Two candidates who are more liberally inclined? I count one, Green dips**t Jill Stein. The only other candidate on the ballot in just about every state is Libertarian Gary Johnson. Libertarians are not remotely liberals. I know, I used to work with a bunch of them. They would literally abolish all civil rights laws, among other things. As for the question of voting for 3rd parties: I do it some times -- voted for Nader in 2000 AND 1996. But the system is set up in a way that minimizes their influence, and until that changes one of the major party nominees will be the next president. So if you live in a swing state and do not vote for Clinton, you are in fact helping to elect the Cheetoh-skinned, lying bigot, whether you choose to recognize that fact or not.
"Libertarianism is a political philosophy that upholds liberty as its principal objective. Libertarians seek to maximize autonomy and freedom of choice, emphasizing political freedom, voluntary association and the primacy of individual judgment." "Libertarian socialists have been advocates and activists of civil liberties, including free love and free thought.Advocates of free love viewed sexual freedom as a clear, direct expression of individual sovereignty. They particularly stressed women's rights, as most sexual laws discriminated against women: for example, marriage laws and anti-birth control measures." "The first recorded use of the term libertarian was in 1789, when William Belsham wrote about libertarianism in the context of metaphysics. Libertarian came to mean an advocate or defender of liberty, especially in the political and social spheres, as early as 1796, when the London Packet printed on 12 February: "Lately marched out of the Prison at Bristol, 450 of the French Libertarians."The word was again used in a political sense in 1802, in a short piece critiquing a poem by "the author of Gebir", and has since been used with this meaning." And then of course, Stupid People, acquire their definitions from a 5th of Whiskey! Very Sad Indeed! As I have pointed out before, people are who they are, not what they or anyone else may call them.
