What song is this line in: make a dead man do tricks
-
I used that in my writing, and everyone at critique said they had never heard it before. Isn't it in a song, something like: you could make a dead man do tricks?
-
Nothing seems to be popping up on google.
-
I tried that too. Maybe it's original, but I have my doubts.
-
I checked on lyricsfreak too & nada.
-
Well, then. I'll check the idiom site and see if it's there. Nope. But, I did see it on youtube, a dead man trick, but not the other phrase. Did I actually write something that was good? Hope so.
-
: You coined the phrase!
-
I wish ... but ... probably not.
-
Are you talking about Revolution no. 9 played backwards was supposed to say Turm Me on Deadman?
-
No. Not that line.

"You make a dead man come" ~ Rolling Stones (Start Me Up)

I really think I've heard it somewhere, but if it was in my mind, then yeh!

Are you sure it ain't a Rolling Stones or Grateful Dead song?

Don't think so. I thought it could be a Leon Russell song, but couldn't find it by googling.

Is this song from a movie?
-
It's a line that I wrote in a poem, but I thought I'd heard it before. We are here trying to brainstorm whether it is a line from a song, or who knows, it could have been in a movie. Any ideas which movie?

I looked up some blues artists from long ago then to, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Point Blank, George Jones, B.B King etc.... etc.... I did not see this or something like you make a blues man, worn out man, down and out man, lovesick man, wasted man etc.... that could have been very close and then you could say - aha mine is different, but close like .... I could not find a similar one to that - so that is good news so far for you so far
