I was able to download my photos. I read online the next day you could no longer do that. I have now deleted them from their site.

Thanks for all the suggestions. What is weird is that I have more than one Photobucket account and the one I use primarily I pay a small amount every year to not have ads show up. This account is still allowing me to post pics here. It is the other account that won't allow me to do that and has deleted any prior photos posted through that account. I still plan to dump PB and find another server.

Oh noooooo going to check this out. Hope I can save my photos!!! A friend of mine, who is a photographer, recommended Square Space or Cargo collective today. Am trying to take my photos to the next level now that I have a professional eye and some good feedback, for my photos. Going to upgrade my camera too! Does anyone have a recommendation for a site to sell things like framed landscape photos?

Don't worry, your photos are still there and you can email a link to them to anyone. It's just that if you have posted a pic previously on a site, the photo will not be there and will be replaced, like my avatar was here, with this: http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b1/njr55/Jackman-abs.jpg

Did they just get bought by someone? Or merged with someone? I wonder why this happened?
-
It's RANSOMWARE! Don't stand for it. This is what will happen with the more unscrupulous sites (maybe even fakebook, someday). As correctly noted, a price of $40 is a more appropriate price than $400, but to suddenly trash everybody's posts with their ransom note is unconscionable. This is on par with Martin Shkreli. Shame on photo*uckit!

True.

I've been telling people for years that Photobucket is no good. There are a million places online to host images, why would anyone pay $400? Especially at a site that has always worked well for some people, was always hit and miss for others and never worked at all for some.

Please tell me what site out of this "million" to use!

After trying and trying last night, I finally got in tonight. I tried to upload something--it took ages. Downloading here was not easy. I'll try again another time.

Imgur Use imgbox Uploads.im ImageBin ImageFra.me ImageUpper Postimage GifyU IMGHST ImageBam * Most of them have unlimited uploads, reasonable file size limits (~10-20MB), direct linking, no expiration, public and/or private albums/galleries, phone apps to upload. Some let you edit, crop, resize your images. * ImageBam recently announced that they were closing after 10 years and then quickly announced that they were staying open. That might be a warning sign.

Thanks Hailey!

You're welcome. But can't people also post pictures on Facebook and then link them here? Or do people have to have a Facebook account to see them? Does Facebook block hotlinking?
