Silly questions for Paul
-
Now that's a really amusing question isn't it???
-
Will you ever trust again?
-
I know that's the silliest question ever, but... Does Paul have soft cheeks? They always seem so soft on pictures... I'd like to touch them, just to see if I'm right...

LOVEWOLVES:
Opus, tomorrow night, Jan. 09th on the History Channel they are gonna show "Man, Moment, Machine: Galileo and the Sinful Spyglass." About the invention of Galileo's telescope in 1610 and Galileo's subsequent clash with the Catholic Church. I don't know if I have seen this program before. I am a History channel junkie. Anyway, thought you might like it. Paul do you like The History Channel?
Thanks for reminding of that program, I was planning on catching it myself but have gotten a little messed up by the cable switchover in my area. All the channels have been rearranged by that, and although I've got this 'menu +' option that my TV is capable of handling, it's not working with the new channel lineup. This is totally having an impact upon my occasional channel surfing pastime ... how can one be an effective couch potato if one can't quickly determine the 10 shows that one wants to watch at the same time??? Which leads me to the latest silly question (oh boy!): Paul do you channel surf??? Or do you have any interest in the TV in general ... not quite sure if you've got the same excesses we have here in the US. We've got way too many channels. By the way LOVEWOLVES, yes I totally dig the History channel, Discovery channel, PBS stations, A&E ... basically anything like that. Although I do occasionally get stuck in a news overload routine, and then it's all about CNN, MSNBC, and now I suppose FOX-News too (since that's been added). Although as I've previously stated I can't rightly figure out where any of these things are anymore and I have to relearn it every time I turn the darned thing on ... 'cause I rarely get over to it much these days.
Oh, I watched the "Galileo and the Sinful Spyglass" the other night. I had forgotton Galileo did not invent the telescope, some Dutch dude did. But Galileo "improved" it. He was so cool. Then afterwards THC had some program about Mars on it. I caught some of it, very interesting. I could watch the planets for forever like that. Seems nice and relaxing. I like the same channels you do Opus! On THC they have the "Engineering an Empire" series, about the great architectural and engineering feats accomplished by various empires. Like the Perisan Empire, Byzantine, Roman etc... I like that series. Here is my silly question to Paul: Paul, what is your all time favourite architectural design? What is your favourite building of all time that has these characteristics?

Say paul do you think that Time gets tired of being time since it is on a twenty four hour 7 day a week schedule. love doris.

That is quite cool (that we seem to like the same programs). I completely missed the Galileo episode of Man, Myth and Machine unfortunately ... and their website doesn't indicate that its going to be on again in the next couple of weeks. Bumming out over here. ... oh well. Paul as I understand it you're over in the Caribbean at the moment, so my question is did you get the chance to see that comet that was on the western horizon last night? Or did anyone else. It would have been in the western sky at or around sunset ... I was dealing with something at work and didn't get the chance to peek out the door and catch a glimpse of it.

SAy paul did you get any good little umbrellas in your drinks in Jamaica. love doris.
-
Opus what is that I am looking at on your avatar now? It is so pretty! Oh, the Galileo thing will come on again. It was interesting though. I did not see the comet. Oh! That reminds me of "With A Little Luck." "Don't you feel the comet exploding?" Paul I don't have a silly question, but you look very hot in your swim trunks in the Caribbean! Have fun!

Hi LOVEWOLVES! Let's see you're asking what that image in the avatar is eh, and you don't recognize it. Hmmm, that's understandable I suppose ... sometimes one can be disoriented by the familiar if its shown in a slightly unfamiliar fashion. Well in a nutshell ... that is another yet another way of looking at our lovely sun. This one is an image that emphasizes the coronal mass ejections that I was referencing earlier in the thread (those are known as CME's for short). The image basically is blocking out the actual surface of the disc, and that way the activity that is on the border of the disc can be seen more clearly. So technically it might be referred to as the 'solar prominence' ... the same stuff that allows all those stars in the night sky to shine their light across the universe to our eye's here on earth. If you saw the "larger version" that I've shrunk this image from you'd also see something traveling in the background to the upper left corner ... it makes it's way from the edge of the image to about 1/3 way through it, in a straight line, and then the sequence repeats. I think it might be the planet mercury in close proximity to the sun on it's trajectory orbit ... but I can't be certain at the moment. Actually I just checked again and it can still be seen up in that upper area in this smaller image, so check it out if you want. Cool stuff ... you can see a variation of the same thing when there's a solar eclipse, although usually the easiest way to do that without running the risk of doing damage to your eye's is to take a piece of regular paper ... like you'd find in a notebook or whatnot, and then jab it with a pin (create a very small hole in the paper) and let the sunlight stream through that hole. The resulting flow of light through the paper is usually directed at the ground and when you look at what's projected there it's a representation of the eclipse and the solar energy that surrounds the shadow is what it is that you're seeing in this image (although this one is showing a certain frequency of light, and therefore a certain ion ... probably something in the Iron IX or X ionic family). No real silly question is on my mind either, just thought I'd expand upon what the avatar is representative of since I was asked. Mind you ... it was a rough summarization, and was what came to mind off the top of my head (i.e. no books were opened to share that stuff, at least not lately ). Its just nuclear fission at work right there. Are you familiar with the concept of nutrino's ... don't worry this isn't a test.
-
Say paul do y ou like olives in your martinis love doris.
-
Thankyou for the explaination Opus. When I first saw it I thought it looked like an eclipse of the sun, but the disc threw me off. It is so cool looking! There are just so many cool things to look at in the Heavens I suppose one could never tire of it. What is a nutrino? No, I have never heard of one, but would love an explaination from you if you have the time? Maybe you can look at one of your clocks and see? Not the melted ones though! Are your clocks rightside up, sideways, or upsidedown today? Okay, for a silly question for Paul: Paul do you like Rum Runners with your swimming attire? Sounds good to me! OH! I just saw Mercury in in the sun avatar! THAT is spectacular! It makes my heart skip a beat! Thanx Opus!
-
Paul do you like monkberry moon delight malts, milkshakes, sundaes or on Banana splits love doris.
-
I just noticed upon staring at the center of the disc over the sun, that if you stare at it long enough, it is like you are travelling through space towards the sun! With the rays of the sun flying past the outsides as you go! Has anyone else noticed that? Or is it just me? This is fun!
-
Yeah it does kind of do that to my eye's too LOVEWOLVES, by the way you have a really cool mannerism about you and I really enjoy your questions too. I'll defer from going into the nutrino's for the moment ... filling up way to much space, and I just worked 14 hours today and then drove 40 miles home. I'm feeling a little spacey myself at the moment. Doris them milkshakes and/or malts sound really good right about now, even though it's freezing up here (brrrrrr!). Hmm, did you mention malts? That or a nice float would be really cool I think. Paul do you freckle when you're in the sun or any of that sort of thing??
-
Thankyou Opus. You are a very interesting person to say the least, I enjoy talking with you. Sorry for all the questions, but I am so interested in things you speak about. OH! Neutrinos are very diverse particles aren't they? I have explored all of their characteristics. Thankyou for the lesson.I love learning new things! Paul do you know much about neutrinos?
