The show last night was FANTASTIC!!!!! Brian and Black Unicorn really ROCKED the Imperial Ballroom!!! The band sounded better than I've ever heard them! The crowd loved Brian! He played all our favorites, starting with "Soft Machine." That one must have been for you, Dawn! One new cover was added. Brian performed "Cinnamon Girl" as a tribute to his sister, Jean. That was nice. Let's hope he'll perform again soon!

Brian's new blog ...... Thursday, January 24, 2008 Our show at the Imperial Ballroom Hello, my peeps! Before I forget anything about our show at the Imperial Ballroom on Saturday night, I want to write it down for you. First off, we [Black Unicorn and I] hadn't performed in a year and they have each been off touring with Shakira and Chris Cornell, me with Paul McC, Rod Stewart and Steven Tyler... so I was nervous about having a show with only one rehearsal. But when Mike Campbell [Heartbreakers] requested that I open for him I was not about to let the opportunity pass us by. The guys showed up at rehearsal prepared and so into it, so we fell right back into our groove.. We added in a cover of Neil Young's "Cinnamon Girl" and it felt like it belonged in the show. When I was a kid, Neil was 'dating' my late sister Jean and wrote that song for her. The "Ma, send me money fast" line is about my Aunt Lee, Jean's Mom... I love her! [see us together.. in my photos at MySpace]. After our set, which I think went very well we all listened to Mike Campbell and the Dirty Knobs rock out.. Really splendid music.. At the end of his show, he invited me and Peter Stroud [awesome player for Sheryl Crow] onstage for his 2 encores.. 4 GUITARS, wailing away!! It was a GREAT way to kick off 2008 live!! Good peeps, great vibes and big thanks to Nathan at Duesenberg, James Trussart and Dan Gould from 65 Amps for a perfect evening. Also, it was great to meet most of the contest winners too. That went well, didn't it? We'll try something like that again sometime. Hey, btw... look up this awesome new music site, because they have some cool new artists, heritage artists [and me!] and they are good people with a cool business ethic. www.novatunes.com Also, let's give a BIG hand to John Button of Black Unicorn fame... he just got the Sheryl Crow gig!!! Congrats, John.. you deserve that and more. We'll miss him.. he wears large shoes which will be hard to fill. You know what they say about big shoes, right? YEP.. BIG FEET. Much love to you all in 2008! Brian

Brian Ray's Solo Release is 'Magnetic.' Besides being the dynamic guitarist and bassist with the current studio and live Paul McCartney band that has been called the best band Paul has worked with since the Beatles, Brian has been blues artist Etta James' musical director and guitarist for over a decade and has worked with artists from Bobby "Boris" Pickett to Steven Tyler of Aerosmith and Chris Cornell, the former front man of Soundgarden. He has co-written with Peter Frampton and long time friend Steve LeGassick (Smokey Robinson's 80's hit "One Heartbeat"). He is also a talented singer and songwriter in his own right with a solo project "Mondo Magneto" that has already been called the 'Best Solo Artist Album of the Year' by Rock and Roll Universe.
