Right now this does not matter -- the media is giving Obama a free pass - closing their eyes and minds to anything he does or is associated with. Their agenda seems to be to get him in there.
Sadly true......as are his followers....

PHILLIP:
People need to listen to what Obama is really saying. He doesn't says he is going to end the war, he says he wants to reduce the troop level, but never says he will bring those men and women home, he says he will send them to Afghanistan. He is going to explode the war in Afghanistan and possibly spread it to Pakistan. If people think he is the peace candidate, they are grossly misguided, it's Obama big deceit. To respond to the Karl Rove post, he recently said the Obama will unravel during the campaign, and I think that will also happen. Obama's hands were really dirty in Chicago.
You have a point, Philip But I think keeping troops in Iraq will help keep Iran in line Well sort of ... Ach--madman is dangerous to the whole Mid East, And he is stupid enough to attack Israel And could bring the whole Middle East into war So to me it makes sense leaving troops in counties next to Iran.

politically speaking.......if we had left iraq directly after we captured sadaam and immediately focused all of our energy on finding osama...where would we be right now? when it comes to religion, sociology physics n politics.......armchair quarterbacks are a penny a pound!

Yes, my friend - I was once in the military And today might be an armchair thinker But once upon a time I was personally involved in world peacekeeping in a small but direct way ...

I have never pulled a republican lever behind the curtain [like the wizard of Oz!!] but if Obama is indeed the Demo choice, I will have to vote to prevent the above from occuring. And 4 more years of McBush is pretty scary too, but at least its the 'devil you know'
So what you're saying is that you'd sooner vote for the continuation of a failed policy just because you're used to it than have the courage to change course. I find that rather intriguing. Still, you get the government you deserve.

In that case, you ought to know that the reason Iran is so strong right now is because of the invasion of Iraq. It disturbed the balance of power in the middle east. Previously, Iran had an enemy on one side on the form or Iraq and an enemy on the other side in the form of Afghanistan. Is anyone so naive as to think that by removing the two forces that had kept Iran in check for 20 years, Iran would not begin sabre rattling? Anyone who knows anything about the region or about strategy knew from the outset that Iran was never going to roll over as the administration (and its fans) predicted. So once again, as with Afghanistan and Iraq, the US is facing an enemy of its own making through a complete misunderstanding of the people it was dealing with. If we can learn just one thing from America's foreign policy excursions of the last 50 years, it's that the enemy of your enemy may also be your enemy. There is one presidential candidate who understands that nothing is achieved by not talking to people. If I decided not to talk to you, would you care? Would that make you do what I want? Of course not! The same principle to nations. As for Pakistan, that's where bin Laden is. We know that. The friend of your enemy is still your enemy. Wouldn't it be nice to have a president who did something about that?

Not to pick on one guy -- McCain wants to be a "nice guy" willing to reach over the aisle and be good friends with the democrats. Not say anything bad about Obama. So what does Obama do in a recent speech? Pick apart all the things McCain stands for or wants to push forward. (Nothing wrong with that on Obama's part). If McCain wants it -- he is going to have to start going against the things Obama has voted on - or what Obama wants to accomplish by way of the Democrat party. And McCain seems to want to throw the Republicans under the bus - while showing he is a good friend to the Democrats. (Perhaps his advisors will help him - or he will get pounded down -- like two fighters going at it and one says he will not throw a punch -- the odds are the one throwing the punches is going to knock the other down.) *by punches -- I mean speaking out against your opponent's voting record, plans, ideas, etc....
McCain can't go against very much of what Obama is proposing because Obamas ideas are what most of the people want. For instance, just yesterday Obama instituted a new policy for the DNC (Democratic National Committee) which will follow what Obama has done with his campaign and that is to NOT accept any contributions from federal lobbyists and PAC funds. McCain couldn't run a campaign if he didn't rely on special interests or take federal money as he does not have that much support among the people. What's he going to punch back against? Universal Health Care? Energy Independence? Tax breaks for the middle class and seniors? Rebuilding the infrastructure? How about restoring Habeaus Corpus? This should be an interesting campaign.

Bill - We may never agree about anything political I blame Jimmy Carter for supporting putting down the peaceful Iranian Shaw(sp) government in favor of the more radical who took Americans prisioner for over 1 year in the late 70's or very early 80's. But when Ronald Reagan was elected President - these radicals got weakened knees & released the American captives. btw - the majority of those imprisoned declare that Achmadinagad(sp) was one of the tormentors / prison guards. Jimmy Carter's approved government of choice

I accept your opening statement. Beyond that though, I fail to see how any of that negates my point. The simple fact is that Iran was a lot quieter in 2003. What happened? The hostages were released after the election to humiliate Carter, not because they were scared of Reagan. And why should they have been scared of Reagan? He was the one who sold them all the weapons. People tend to forget that Ahmadinejad was democratically elected. Is bringing democracy to the middle east still such a good idea? And if we are to blame Carter for the rise of the Islamic radicals in Iran, then why do we not blame Bush for the rise of Islamic radicalism in Iraq since it was his idea to remove the secular government and pave the way for radical fundamentalists to fill the vacuum? I accept that that wasn't Bush's intention but if we're going to hold presidents accountable, then let's be even about it. You can't have it both ways. Obama's policy is a return to speaking softly and carrying a big stick. There's nothing wrong with big sticks, but if you don't talk then nobody knows why you're hitting them with it. And the fact remains that if I refused to talk to you, you wouldn't care at all. Why should you? The same applies to international relations. The results are self evident.

PHILLIP:

Everything is relative. Any way you look at it, the turnout for Obama has been phenomenal. Meanwhile, McCain is shifting his fund-raising events from public halls to private living rooms. I actually feel sorry for him. His party has screwed him once again - only this year, instead of destroying him with lies, they've given him the nomination after a failed administration have made any Republican unelectable.
-
In fact, the finances of the campaigns tells us a lot about how they would perform as president. Clinton maxed out her donors and is $20mil in debt. McCain was in deep trouble for a while and is possibly surviving on being the only Republican left to donate to. Both Clinton and McCain have made themselves beholden to special interest groups. By contrast, Obama is well cashed up mainly on the back on small donations from people who actually believe in him rather than special interests who want a comfortable working relationship with the government. Now if the way the candidates manage the economy of their campaigns is any indication of how they would manage the national economy (and there is no reason to believe that it isn't), then the choice is pretty clear.

At this precise moment i am writing this post,Senator Barack Obama is the Favorite to win the General Election and to win the Presidency.Obama already leads the Polls in crucial States like New York,Michigan,North Carolina,California,etc...For the past few weeks/events/speeches Senator John McCain has been/looks very tired. When i met Senator McCain a few weeks ago he was looking much better.McCain needs help, even because NOT all of the Republican Party is supporting him 100%.Meaning of this :-Senator McCain needs urgently a strong running mate, somebody like Mitt Romney, for example.
-
In several events in the Senator John McCain Campaign (recently in Louisiana, for example) there were/are NO real enthusiasm!...In the Senator Barack Obama Campaign events (Minnesota,South Dakota,Virginia,Montana,etc...) there are massive crowds singing, shouting, having good FUN.Senator McCain is in "trouble" now...Better call Mitt Romney soon...

Here is Obama keeping his first promise; to keep special interest money out of the presidential campaign. DNC has to return $100,000. to institute new Obama pledge. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/
