Doctor Who

How does one express one's feelings about that final episode without writing or hinting at spoilers? Obviously by not writing anything other than - how can they ever top that?? So much closure on unfinished business, so much new to await and anticipate..... Again gotta watch that several times more. Time for one of these: or even two.... Martin PS Cybermen special for Xmas - that's the teaser trailer at the end. Oh and is that a hint at the end that Torchwood has "found" it's two new staff members to replace Owen and Toshiko for it's next new series?
-
I saw the last episode on Saturday; it was very good but was very surprised by the end; Apparently there is a new series at Christmas. As long as they don't bring back the Daleks .....as they scared the hell out of me when I was a child! "EXTERMINATE, EXTERMINATE".... If anyone hasn't seen it yet I don't want to spoil it but it was very good. Put it this way, I was glued to the TV on Saturday night! David Tennant is very good looking as well!! I wish that I was in Rose's shoes as I would love to be kissed by The Doctor like that.
-
I think the Daleks are done for a while. At least I hope so because they would be hard pressed to top that. Awesome season finale! And a part fo it even played in Germany. How cool is that? (The Dalek's German was horrible, though...) I'm hoping for a steampunky Christmas special. It looked like the Cybermen in Victorian England at least.

Me and Em thought that too ....other than that, I'm still speechless about the episode Looking forward to the Christmas special with the Cybermen. They were the ones who caused my childhood nightmares and although I don't think the new look Cybermen are as frightening looking as the old ones, I still get an uncomfortable feeling watching them after all these years

loved it love it

In the absence of new nuWho I've started to watch the Classic series, from the beginning. I'm nearing the end of the first season. It's quite good but a little weird to see the old Doctor and the Daleks for the first time and have more knowledge about future developments than the characters.

Just in case this slipped under the radar of Whovian fans: To mark the inaugaration of the Cern LHC particle accelerator (Big Bang Day - not ) the BBC commissioned a special 45 minute radio episode of Torchwood set within the facility. Captain Jack gives a few "informative" lectures on the Cern program to set up the storyline. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00d9zww Available until 3:02pm Wednesday 17th September All the usual actors voice their appropriate roles. Catch it while you can - sadly, iPlayer material is usually only available in the UK. Although at the end it suggests the radio play will be released as an audiobook and become available as a commercial download. Martin

Thanks so much for posting this, Martin! We enjoyed it!

Pleasantly surprised that you can listen in in Pepperland That's good news for Whovians everywhere. It was somewhat of a infommercial for the Cern project with the Captain Jack explanations. I suppose the story-lines suggestion that it'd open up a wormhole in the space-time continuum is no worse than the rumour that the real project will create a black hole that'll subsequently engulf the solar system Even as a one-off radio story it's events are appropriately placed in the time-line between the last series and the next referencing events at the end of that last series. Reading the news updates on the BBC Torchwood site they reveal that the next series will consist of, at least, one five part story entitled "Children Of Earth". That will be a challenging demand on the fans more used to a maximum of two parter stories but more commonly single episode stories. http://www.bbc.co.uk/torchwood/index.shtml They are keeping the arrival of any "new" team members under their hats with only the three current characters, Jack, Gwen and Ianto featured on the web-site's front page. But as you see in this radio episode, Martha Jones once again has become involved from within her role as part of UNIT. Browsing the BBC torchwood site you'll find you can download the radio episode as a free mp3 at the moment: http://www.bbc.co.uk/torchwood/sites/episodes/series2/ep_lost_souls.shtml (Find the download link and Right Click - Save Target As... to start the download) Martin

Sadly, we cannot access the BBC Torchwood site from Pepperland. Checked BBC America to no avail. Hope everyone else enjoys!

Thanks for posting the link, Martin. I've been a Dr . Who fan for quite awhile. I think David Tennant is my favorite of all the doctors I've seen.

Well seeing as I had to go deep into the darkest recesses of this iconic (or is it moronic?) forum to find this thread then I assume that no one heard Steve Wright in the afternoon on BBC Radio 2 during the week when old Russell was on. He said that they were looking for a replacement for David Tennant and thought it was about time one of those creatures with shrt potatoes had a go.......that is a woman to the rest of you. Their ideal would be shock, gasp, horror is....some dodgy bloke called Johnny Depp!..... Sounds like Alex Kingston of ER fame is up for the top job.....would explain the storyline in the library.

Prince Charles exterminates Dr Who cameo after refusing offer to appear on hit show By Daniel Bates, Daily Mail 13th October 2008 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1077018/Prince-Charles-exterminates-Dr-Who-cameo-refusing-offer-appear-hit-show.html Perhaps he was worried his acting would look wooden alongside a Dalek. But last night it emerged that Prince Charles has turned down an invitation to appear on Dr Who. The show's writer and executive producer Russell T Davies wrote to Clarence House asking if Charles would like to make a cameo appearance in the hit BBC drama. Please follow the link above for the full story

I LOVE Dr. Who! Although in the States we are quite behind on episodes. But I am very addicted to it at this point and love David Tennant. I am upset though that after finishing the 2006 set of episodes here my local station seems to be re-showing the entire season again. I may have to get the DVD's.

Guess what I'm doing?......go on......I'm wearing my Davros mask ( what do you mean you cannot tell the difference....bloomin' cheek!.... My son is insisting I play with his new Dr Who masks and claws from the Doctor Who Adventures magazine......I'm a professional you know and nearly 50.....this ain't any way for a grown man to behave.....what will the neighbours say?......

LOL! I'd love to see a picture of you in your Davros mask! I'm a huge Dr who fan and I'm incredibly in love with David Tennant right now. To me, he's the best Dr since Tom Baker. The last episode we've seen in the states is the one where it appears he's going to regenerate into another Dr. (but I know he really isn't). I'm dying for it to start up again! IamthePaulrus, I LOVE your spinning Tardis- totally COOL!
-
My son says he cannot tell the difference between my face and the Davros mask.......he's grounded until the end of time and beyond, cheeky little bugger! I am as all the ladies on here well know a bit of a studmuffin.....and even though my dashing good looks are starting to fade a bit due to advancing old age and I'm a bit squidgey round the edges due to the medication I take to enable me to function and be funny on this mausoleum of a site I still have a certain something in the right light....although I'm perhaps better seen in a dark dank basement......my son is ridiculing me now and is trying to zap me with his sonic screwdriver......I didn't know hedgehogs had screwdrivers.
-
LOL! You are hysterical! Davros, the stand up comedian! That's his new occupation now.
-
Or in Davros's case the sit down comedian......and if you don't laugh he'll get Supreme Dalek to exterminate you...... I'm actually sitting next to a 2 foot high Dalek as I type.......$200 worth.....what a waste of money!.....bloody computerised thing keeps doing it's own thing. Found it sitting out side my bedroom door at three in the morning a few weeks ago when I was on my way to the john.......stood there with its blue eye just staring at me........seeing as it's pitch black in this forest hideaway and I was naked at the time it almost frightened the brown stuff out of me. Bloody thing is getting binned when my sons not looking......
-
Now he's wearing claws and cackling like the witch from the Shakespeare episode......my son is taking after his pa......he's a raving nutcase...... I'm sooo proud!
