Sam was way ahead when I voted this morning. I'm busy downloading songs for the Gijon rehearsal. Now they will be on my hard drive and I can listen whenever I please. I hope I get most of my deposit back, too. She is going to look for every excuse in the book because they need the money to pay their bills, but I keep telling her what Colorado law says and that is not my problem.

Hello everyone. I've been out most of the day on business and tonight I've been invited to a barbeque so I'll post again either in the early hours or first thing tomorrow Sunday. Most of you will know that tomorrow June 6th is the 60th Anniversary of the D-Day landings when Britain, America and our Allies took the first steps in liberating Europe. Many of our young men died during that struggle and that's why I get upset when some in Europe, mainly the French, fail to support America and Britain when we need it. After 9/11 I sent a letter to my many friends in America which declared our support for them.....and why !! Below is that letter. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To my friends in America. It is now over three weeks since the terrible attack on America and the free World. So much has been said and written that, although wanting to convey my own feelings into words, I felt it wasn't my place to do that. Such oratory and prose was best left to World leaders and the victim's families. But every night since the awful tragedy, after I've said my prayers, I've found myself going to sleep with the words from `God Bless America' going through my thought processes again and again. Therefore I now feel obliged to add my own feelings of sadness and hope for us all to the mountain of words that must surely have reached higher than the Twin Towers of the former World Trade Center. So please allow me to pass these expressions on to my many friends in the greatest Country and Democracy on Earth and in the History of Mankind. You should all be proud of your wonderful Nation and have confidence that you have the power and will to rebuild your ruined buildings even greater than before. Americans are the kindest and most generous nation on Earth, ready to step in and help wherever necessary. And without ever counting the cost. Yet occasionally some peoples around the world, jealous of your success in becoming the World's only true Super Power, have unfairly criticized America and it's policies. They choose to ignore the truth that this supremacy has been achieved only through your adoption of a free society added to sheer hard work and inspired leadership. Without America and it's people supporting us in World War Two and the subsequent `Cold' War, the rest of the free World might well have been under the heel of oppressive regimes too horrible to contemplate. Thank GOD America was there for us all when we needed her. And now you need, and are receiving, our unstinting support. And you deserve it !!! God Bless America. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Love, cheers and hugs to you all. Sam xxxx

Wonderful post Sam. Thanks for remembering those who risked their lives for us during World War 2 and the victims of 8/11, As Paul once said alot of people may think the west has faults but one thing we don't allow is Hitlers.

Ina, I'm sure she'll appreciate that. I hope you have wicked fun! Sam, what about Canada. But, I do like America....but not really much Bush though. As if I would know, though, but I feel that he hasn't done well....but something had to be done in Iraq... How do some of you feel about this? By the way, Rubber Soul rawked. I don't have much time to mention much, other than the Fifth Beatle and Paul is cute. It was a blast, and we had excellent seats. Crazy. Um, will say more later!

Hello Sam Thanks for sharing the letter *To My Friends In America* My grandfather died aged of 32 serving the Australian army in the 2nd world war!! I never did get to see my grandfather!! (I wasn't born yet) To this day I get upset! I really don't want to go into more detail but I'll tell you my grandmother was left to raise 4 children on her own, not an easy task, my grandmother's life was seriously affected during and after the war!! A repercussion of the 2nd world war. I've been voting for you Sam. Hello Kathy Good to hear *Rubber Soul* rawked!! Getting excellent seats is great!! Sounds like you had a *Fab* time.

Most of my uncles served in WWII and I know one was involved in the D Day Invasion. My father was 4F, which meant he wasn't physically able to serve and, to this day, he feels like he didn't do his duty for his country. That must be a terrible burden to have carried since the 40's. And to think in Viet Nam, people considered it a good thing to be declared 4F and tried anything possible to be 4F. Times changed.

Lovely posty Sam just lovely Hugs!

Hi Maccascruff. My Dad was 4a, because of his sight, and so he also missed the war in Europe. And ended up in a far more dangerous position in Liverpool. he was a dock checker and on top of his important job supervising the unloading of food and munitions from America and Canada, he was also in the Home Guard and National Fire Service. And many times was a firewatcher...on board Amunition ships being bombed and shot at. Sometimes he'd smile and say he'd have been safer on the front line. So many heroes invading Europe...and at home. Including the ladies. Hi dB Yes there were so many heroes from Australia and New Zealand. I've been watching them all day on Telly in the D-Day celebrations. It makes me very proud to see all those Vet's from the Commonwealth, America and Canada, many in their 90's, still walking so erect. Hi Kathy And Canada were given a special mention not only for their heroics on D-Day but also because of the 5000 Canadians who were killed at Dieppe. From that disaster we learned many lessons which helped the Allies land successfully on the Normandy beaches. Love and hugs everyone. Sam xxxx

Well, that is so sad. But, I watched a movie about it on the History Channel. It was running really late, and it was 4 hours long. But it was good, and I learned a lot last night becuase of it. Greg, I'll post about the concert on yours and Sara's thread. I'm sure the concert was great, Sara!
