Get stuck in any snowbanks today Svennie?
Not today, it's been raining. A lot of the snow has melted. But we'll have more snow the next couple of days. 20 centimeters tomorrow and 30 more on Saturday. I'm lovin' it! NOT!
Is there flooding when that much snow melts so quickly or does it all just flow out the fjords with no problems?
Most of the snow is still here, and we got more today... Flooding is quite rare at this time of year, but in the spring when the snow in the mountains melts there is flooding. In Oslo it's usually not so bad, the water just flows into the Oslo fjord.

Good luck at the dentist. I tought only little kids had dentist-phobia.
I was pretty darn brave until 2001. I had to have a tooth crowned and the dentist couldn't get my jaw numb enough and I was 'white knuckling' it until they started the nitrous oxide Now I'm worried anytime drilling is required , which fortunately isn't very often
Man, been there, done that. I wonder if there's a genetic connection, as one of my kids has the same problem...can't get her numb enough for anything. As you say, mercifully, she's not needed it often, but still, it's a miserable experience. I hope your trip wasn't as bad as you were expecting.
I have had the same experience a couple of times. But that's many years ago now. Now I worry about the costs... last time I was at the dentist's it cost me more than 1,000 dollars.
Wow. I can't recall if you've said in the past, but it sounds like dental services aren't covered in your national health plan, is that right?
The main rules is that the patient has to pay for the treatment , but there are many exceptions. If the patient is under 20 years old, the National Insurance will cover the expenses for dental eximation and treatment. It's the same if the treatment is necessary because of diseases, such as hiv/aids. If there has been an accident the insurance will also cover the expenses.

Did anyone see
? Wow. He's in a coma now, but the doctors say he is going to be ok.Ouch. That reminds me of the commercial on American TV many years ago....can't recall if it was NBC or ABC sports, but one of them had a long-running commercial that showed a ski jumper taking a similar fall (Tina, do you remember this? Do you remember who it was?), and some 'winning' athletes, and the tag line was "the thrill of victory, and the agony of defeat". Of course, the 'agony of defeat' line was voiced over the exact moment depicting that horrendous fall.
There used to be lots of horrible falls in ski jumping, especially in the big hills. Nowadays it doesn't happen that often, many falls but it's very rare that someone gets seriously injured, mainly because the hills are safer. I think there will be some changes in downhill skiing. It's going too fast. The speed was 87 mph when when that downhill skier fell, and he jumped 70 meters! I am glad he survived...

Just caught this edit that Svenn made today, to his opening post here on our new thread:
?I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the Supernova Club, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the Supernova Club."
"Constitution"? WHAT "Constitution"? Where can I have a look at this 'document'? Or has it not been written yet? 'notte, y'all.

I don't think dental care is part of the national health system in England either cuz of all the stereotype jokes about Brits with bad/no teeth. Is dental covered in The Netherlands? Belgium? Sweden? Spain? Austria?

As long as I'm on the subject of teeth....here's an example of a damn fine smile

In the Netherlands everyone has an obligation to be insured for basic health care, additional dental care is optional. Every insurance company has its own additional health care packages (incl. dental), so it a good idea to compare prices before you decide which company is the one for you Under 20/22 or something dental care is covered by basic healthcare, above that age only in special circumstances. My additional health care program is specifically for "youngsters" until the age of 30 and I get 75% of the costs back from my insurance with a maximum of 450 euro. Two preventive check-ups a year are free So I think you could say we got a pretty good health care program here in the Netherlands especially if you compare our system to that of the US. I've just finished reading the chapter on social services in my "America" book (I have an exam on wednesday about American history, culture etc) and it's pretty bad I rather pay my 104 euros a month and be covered quite well thank you very much

This is a very nice song by Crosby, Stills and Nash:
I'm afraid I'm going to have to check them out as well....harmonies are definitely my thing. I think Sean has a few cd's of them, I'll play them tomorrow!
So, what did you think?
Haven't listened yet. ops: ops: I haven't been home the past days as you can see by my absence yesterday. I have 9 pages to catch up on. Hey, it could be worse.

Hello I'm answering what is on the souvenir section. I've seen this now: "Lost Mozart masterpiece performed for the first time in France" http://www.yahoo.com/s/1019449 it's just the piece we talked about here, I saw the pic with the score and recorded something that is not similar at all to what's on the video www.oliversanz.com/mozartunknown.mp3
I remember that, didn't your recording start out the same?
Hello in my sister's laptop, cause is my PC will be down for a long time, I have no audio. When I saw the audio, I thought that what the violinst plays and what I played is not similar at all, someone got the score wrong... I can't listen now. Is the melody I played the most in the video? or maybe not even that? perhaps I composed it instead of reading it I prefer that to the sound on the video...

He's not the "big stadium" kind of guy, I don't think......unless he's with Paul and they're in Central Park.
Yeah, that was pretty "big", wasn't it?

yes, they say this society lacks creativity... but that's because they don't visit this thread. we'll give them ideas for ten new global shows
And at least one or two of them wouldn't be censored
only there in the US or maybe Obama will change that too...

OMG! I googled Anne Hathaway pics.. This is what I found: http://server5.uploadit.org/files/theDUD3-AnneHathaway.jpg [size=4]that top would look great on Evie.
I wouldn't be surprised if that pic would be first one when you search for her in google
She is really something... I love her breasts. Not the biggest I've seen... but so nice and firm!
I love your new avatar.

Yeah, that's the first thing that I thought of too, 'the agony of defeat' from Wide World of Sports. The skier broke his leg or ankle in that clip.
OMG, don't mention skiing to me. Sean has developed an unnatural obsession to skiing since he tried it himself, but indoors. Now he's bought skis, and an outfit, and he's talking about us actually going to Austria on a ski vacation next winter (I only want to go if he's going skiing in Sweden but yeah, he's not convinced), he's watching youtube videos of extreme skiing all day and he even ordered a couple of dvd's. It's worse than my S&G obsession so go figure!

I know what you mean. The creativity is blooming in the Supernova. A show could be about Denise Milani... it could be called "Are they real?"--- and a bunch of men could touch them and then guess if they really are. The winners gets to eat dinner with her.
do you think they will go the dinner if they have already touched THEM? Maybe... She would answers questions about THEM, and tell stories about them, and people would have to wonder if they're real or not. Make some poses for pics, etc... It would be better if there were several women each show. The winner would be the one with more guesses right. Denise Milani would be a great opener. I think the show would break audience records, like the Beatles on Ed Sullivan ones in America. If it's not censored... And in the end a doctor like the one on Jana Defi would do the test there... to announce the results. There would be milions of people glued to the screens. How could these guys of La Trinca have not thought of it?. They have created dozens of TV shows besides Operacion Triunfo, but I liked more then...

Welcome to the Supernova Club! The old Supernova thread has reached 1,000 pages and will soon be moved to the Souvenir section. In this thread we talk about all kinds of music. We are going to talk about bands/artists like The Smiths, Oasis, Adam Green, The Beatles, The Strokes, Brigitte Bardot, Hard-Fi, Babyshambles, Amy Winehouse, Simon & Garfunkel, Crosby Stills & Nash, Arcade Fire, Beck, Turbonegro, The Hooters, The Go! Team, La Rocca, Manic Street Preachers, Nada Surf, Yeah Yeah Yeahs etc.
Thank you very much, Svenn, for including them! Btw, Christy and Tina, I'm a bit late in uploading the other Saturday Night Live shows, but they ARE coming, if you're still interested.
I miss the owner of this board; sir Paul McCartney.
I think it's 'a given' that talk of him is welcome here.
I'm 9o% sure he reads the board. But I don't have a clue if he reads this thread. Just in case.... Hello Hello Paul!

Congratulation to all Americans I'm happy with Obama but I'm also very affraid a lot of very high hopes and 1 man to do that : let's not be hard for him................he is just a man
People with common sense are aware that he doesn't walk on water, but some folks are putting him in the "superhero" category. Of course being in a comic book with Spiderman doesn't dispell that notion. :
The media have made almost a saint of him, even before his inauguration. I hope he can do a lot of good things for your country and for the world. But I don't believe in miracles.
I don't either. I'm hoping he can, at the least, start to turn this big ship of a country toward a better course. I hope he will be upfront with the public as to what is really going on which may be too much to expect from any polititian :
Normally, I would agree very much with your assessment of what can be expected from "any politician", but as I said in an earlier post, he seems determined to getthe message out that his administration will be conducting it's business 'out in the open', so even if people don't agree with what he's doing, at least they will hopefully know what it is that he IS doing. Time will tell.
Well, all the politicians deceive, didn't they? A president has less power that it seems. In the ecomony he can not do much. If you notice there are a LOT of countries with a LOT of different presidents, and no matter the president, the economy is bad in all of them. Just decisions that can change a little the things. What is really left for politicians is "Foreign Affairs", I mean if he closes Guanatanamo prison, then it's closed. Or stop Iraq's war... but then it's the question of if a president is really independent from all the rest of the power in the country and in the world. I think he's not, no matter who. BUT! it's impossible to do it worse than W, so it's getting better, it couldn't get much worse.
