Happy New Year!

Oh my great pics of Rusty Kimsey!!!!!!!! *drools* Rusty is SOOO gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!

Am I the only one who finds Rustys guitar playing very ordinary? Paul consistantly outplays him on GENY and compared to Jimmy McCulloch and Robbie, he is very uninspired. I think Brian Ray plays better than him.

Oh well, everybody is entitled to their opinion.... I might be totally biased and actually I am, but I think Rusty is the best guitar player in the world...actually much better than either Jimi Hendrix (whom I adore) or Eric Clapton whose solos can be pretty damn annoying despite the fact that I like him....Robbie McIntosh isn't bad either but so totally boring and so was Paul's previous line-up with the exception of Wix and Paul of course. I also love Brian but even he said that that "hearing Rusty play is a pleasure" (BITUS dvd).

I have heard this before that Pauls previous line up with Robbie and Hamish was boring. What was that line up missing? Jumping frogs perhaps. If you listen to Drive My Car on Paul Is Live, the guitar solo Robbie does is far superior, and is the case with every other solo. However, lets not fall out over it.

Well, as I said you are entitled to your opinion, but in this thread please do not trash Rusty and the current line-up. I also have to add I'm not a guitar player although I love guitars (guitarists) and can recognise many guitars but until I heard Rusty's ever-changing guitar solos on Let It Be I used to hate if a guitar player changed the solos....but his solos are full of passion. I'm not talking against you but you can never ever convince me about your opinion!

I dont care who Paul has in his line up.His current band are alright yeah but I prefered his earlier lineup which i am only basing on previous footage as I never saw them live, but Paul's band are not the first thing on my mind thats for sure

Yeah, we are all different and that makes the world interesting, doesn't it? I do care who is in the line-up... Paul's so called "supergroup" line-up with Dave Gilmour in the Cavern in 1999 (Run Devil Run) was awful in my opinion... If Paul wants great shows then he has to stick with this band.

Oh really thats interesting. I liked his supergroup but glad they only did kind of one of things otherwise it would have lost its sparkle and I couldnt imagine Paul managing to last in a supergroup with all those egos

Having seen the last Wings incarnation in '79 and all the band line up's since, i do believe that the current musicians are the best live group he's had.The only criticism i would have of them now is there enthusiasm is waning a little playing the same old songs over and over, not there fault really. If you go back and look at the footage of their initial US tour with Paul they are really having fun as it's all new,but now it's just a job. There's a spark from time to time when they play something different, but most of the time it's just going through the motions.

I wouldn't even go to see Paul if he changed any members of this band
Yeah i dont think i'd bother if he changed bands now. To be honest if i were to go to a Paul concert now i'd be going to see the band as well because i'm a fan or THEIR music. I love brian and rustys works, and they're just as important as paul when they're up there on stage because they're successful and excellent recording artists in their own right. Long live 'my band'! haha Josh

Yes, I have to agree to some extent.

I'd go see Paul even if he was with somebody odious, like Jessica Simpson He's Paul and there is no stopping me that's crazy to blow off Paul *evah! I'd also go see Rusty regardless. It's just silly to say he's ordinary since playing with Paul for a near decade qualifies him as extraordinary : Now, if you have specific issues comparing solos like you find the new solos anachronistic, or he doesn't shred enough for ya, that's fair. But saying he is ordinary is just inaccurate. Personally I think Rusty plays delicious tasty bits and divine slide. And I grew up listening to George Harrison so I know beauty However, Paul can outplay just about anybody on guitar. He's a virtuoso!

Lol i definately wouldn't say that! He's a very good guitarist, cant knock him at all, but but but he could soooo easily be outplayed by A LOT of other guitarists in their sleep! hehe Josh

I don't think that either Paul is or especially George was as technically good guitarist as either Rusty or Brian. But I guess they know it better... or a good guitarist can prolly judge it better than me...but none of the Beatles members were virtuoso on guitar (Paul is great though). ops:

I like Rusty...hes a good guy. He does look a bit gormless sometimes I'm not bothered either way on whether he plays guitar for Paul or not. But I dont think they are looking increasinly bored during the 1000 version of Drive my car et al
