Looks like a corker..... We have friends coming to stay that weekend so they will be dispatched to the dark, dank vaults beneath Mitchelson Mansions and the door firmly bolted so I can be allowed to put up my feet and watch it in peace......with a nice bottle of chilled wine of course.....

i am so glad i now have HD

Good photos and article on this weekends episode if you go to radiotimes.com and head into the Dr Who section when it comes up near the top of the main page.

Usual brilliance from the Doctor Who team. As usual, I can't say too much as so many will yet want to see this without spoilers. David Tennant was all over TV prior to this show, apparently the scripts get better and better wth a whole host of special guests appearing in future episodes. Some of the names are "out there" apparently as the general public have spotted them filming episodes around Cardiff I must check out a few Whovian fan-sites to find out names. I seem to recall that the Christmas special will feature Donna Noble's grandad - as played by Bernard Cribbins. Update - and Catherine Tate as well..... If true that's wonderful as I've watched and loved so much of Bernard over the decades. Martin

they mentioned song will it be song from the don't stand in the shadows and will the mad character played by Lee Evens be the master ????

Dr Who to the Live and Let Die theme

The BBC Proms listing have been released for this year: http://www.bbc.co.uk/proms/2009/whatson/ No Dr Who Prom this year Still we've been fortunate enough to have both the Special Children In Need concert in 2007 recorded in The Millenium Centre Cardiff, and the Dr Who Prom in The Royal Albert Hall in 2008. Makes sense to take a break and allow the Doctor his transformation this year - and then the BBC can arrange a special Prom around a retrospective of this incarnation and celebration of his new resurrection next year.... Hint Hint Martin The Family Prom this year is a celebration of Darwin in this anniversary year: http://www.bbc.co.uk/proms/2009/whatson/0108.shtml#prom21 And there's a free concert for Families: http://www.bbc.co.uk/proms/2009/whatson/2607.shtml#prom13 which ends with the educational piece by Benjamin Britten - A Young Persons Guide To The Orchestra M

We have the announcement of the new companion for Matt Smith: Karen Gillan http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8073734.stm Like Freema Agyeman (Martha Jones) before her she has appeared on the show playing another character - a soothsayer in the Fires Of Pompeii. Another redhead...... will she show the fabled feisty temper associated with the hair colour? Martin

Lord, if the Doctor and his companions get any younger they're going to be taking on the daleks weilding sonic soothers. They are going to lose viewers pandering to the teenage demographic all the bleedin' time. They should have went older this time with both characters. Why don't they just shift it over to CBeebies! They'll be fighting the Teletubbies next...... :

Talking of CBBC: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/8068435.stm Besides the three more specials before his transformation David Tennant will appear in a two-parter episode of the spin off series The Sarah-Jane Adventures. See older women still do have a part to play Martin

I'm so excited BBC running trailers for the new series of Torchwood. Torchwood: Children Of Earth Starts Monday 6th July, 9pm, BBC One One story line but run in five episodes every night of the same week Mon - Fri You can see the trailers here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/torchwood/ One aside, as this series has switched to prime-time slot at 9.00 pm on BBC - and, as the trailers show, involves a large number of young actors I'm guessing the series will be more appropriate to younger viewers (maybe not the youngest....) The earliest stories were a bit touch and go at times but with the cross-over of many lead characters between Torchwood and Doctor Who I think they've had to rethink the adult content seen in earlier shows. This has to be a major BBC event given that dedicated slot 9.00 Mon - Fri. Martin

Dr Who's David Tennant will be joined by all the 10 other incarnations of the Time Lord for a special one-off edition of the BBC One programme. By Aislinn Simpson 23 Jun 2009 David Tennant will get a helping hand from his predecessors to carry out a mission. The cameo appearances will come during the first episode featuring the 11th doctor, Matt Smith, 26. He will be joined by Tennant, Christopher Eccleston and old favourites including Tom Baker, Peter Davison and Sylvester McCoy. The 15 minute programme will be shown in November as part of the BBC's Children In Need charity appeal and all the actors have waived their fees. It is the third time the doctors have been reunited for charity: in 1983, the five doctors were brought together for Children in Need and in 1993, the same charitable cause saw doctors three to seven brought together for the Dimensions in Time show. Tennant will get a helping hand from his predecessors to carry out a mission. William Hartnell, Jon Pertwee and Patrick Troughton, Time Lords whose rein extended between 1966 to 1974 but have since passed away, will be included by use of images from their previous shows. A source told the Daily Mirror that the show would make programming history. ?This is a momentous episode for all Doctor Who fans. Never before have all the Doctors been in the same room, let alone in the same show," the source said. ?It?s been a logistical nightmare getting all the actors together and available for shooting on the same days. But the script has already been started and it?s classic Doctor Who ? really witty and very sharp." ?Viewers will see the Time Lords regenerating and emerging one by one from the Tardis, each with their own quirky opening line." ?David Tennant is the central character in the episode. He?s trying to hunt down some special time travel apparatus. What he?s actually lost has not yet been decided, but the idea is for all the other Doctors to club together to help David find it." ?The actors who are no longer with us, William, Jon and Patrick, will make special cameo appearances, with footage from original shows being flashed up on screen. It?s a really exciting project ? and all for a good cause.? A BBC spokesman told the Mirror: ?Nothing has been finalized yet, although there is discussion of a Children in Need Doctor Who special. It is too early to say what.?

I'm in the States and have watched it on and off over the years. To be honest I really didn't get into it until Christopher Eccleston played the Doctor. I loved his take on the Doctor. I guess the way he played it was my idea of what this sort of character would be. My favorite season

Whovians might like to earn that tucked away in the sleepy BBC backwater of Radio 4 are a series of radio plays featuring Torchwood. The original broadcasts are Weds, Thurs, and Friday this week, and remain available for seven days after broadcast. UK viewers can listen on-line using the BBC iPlayer or download the episodes as podcasts from here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/features/torchwood/download/ I love that the BBC Doctor Who/Torchwood franchise invest in other media such as these plays, books, kids cartoons etc. Martin

I also see that BBC America is to screen the Torchwood miniseries almost immediately - two weeks after the UK broadcast: http://www.bbcamerica.com/content/262/index.jsp Starting Monday 20th for the five nights in the same way as the UK. Martin

Really looking forward to this!
