Doctor Who

I really missed the Doctor this week.... the preview for Vincent sounds interesting!!!

The second part of the Chris Chibnall two-parter, Cold Blood aired this weekend in the UK. It's going to be very hard to say anything about it without spoiling it for US friends, so I'll just say that it was an excellent episode, great acting and Matt and Karen were just superb.
-
Birthday... I amost don't mind if you spoil it, I am watching it several times now, and realized I can download it from iTunes... much better! I just got Season 3 from eBay, in the mail today.... Looking forward to watching that...

The new interactive computer game is now available to download at: www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho Off there now to get my copy.... Martin

The Whovian YouTubers have been busy since the release of the game. Here's the opening scene - before the gameplay commences -
Paul fans may wish to note Amy Pond's natural instinct is to meet John Lennon......... And, if you're not going to download and play, this a glimpse of the actual gameplay: As the script is from the original scriptwriters expect the usual humour... Somewhere out in the Whovian Youtubian Universe will be a fan who'll upload the whole game as a walk-through eventually - most games have someone with this as an ambition. Martin -
Thanks Martin. My little'un's been enjoying the game, although he keeps getting zapped by the Daleks! New episode "Vincent and the Doctor" on Saturday night in the UK. Not giving anything away to say that this was about Vincent Van Gogh and written by Four Weddings script writer Richard Curtis. Superb episode, which was more an examination of the trauma of depression, dressed up as an exciting sci-fi tale. Extremely moving and beautifully done. Outstanding piece of writing and great work from the cast, particularly Tony Curran as Vincent and Billy Nighy. New Torchwood! Torchwood will be returning for a fourth season of 10 episodes, it was reported today - http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/cult/s8/torchwood/news/a224000/torchwood-confirmed-for-fourth-series.html Apparently the new season will be an international partnership between the BBC and US premium network Starz Entertainment. Russel T Davies will be the head writer and the stories will feature "global stakes and locations"! Sounds exciting.
-
Good news about Torchwood. The BBC does have a direct announcement here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/torchwood/torchwood_new_series/ Confirming that Captain Jack and Gwen will feature. One thing though that has come out in the series is that the "organisation" does have other branches world-wide - in one spin-off radio play they went to Bombay to address a strange phenomenon. So the apparent wipe-out of the Cardiff HQ in the last series will not be the issue immediately thought. Martin

Thanks so much for the Torchwood news!

Great news, isn't it! Which Doctor Who Season5 episode are you guys up to now by the way?

The Hungry Earth this Saturday. I really wish that we were on the same schedule!

My Doctor Who Prom concert tickets arrived today - totally irrational the feelings of pleasure and anticipation such a piece of mail brings. I know the "Monsters" tour has been announced since but I'm getting Matt Smith and Karen presenting mine. And, again irrational, after reaching my tender age I finally get to visit the Royal Albert Hall - this venue sits right at the centre of the UK's cultural heart. I've watched literally hundereds of hours of concerts screened from this place yet have never had the reason to visit in person. This opportunity ranks almost as highly as the Doctor Who link. Martin

Great news Martin. I hope you and your family enjoy the show. The Albert Hall is a very special place. I've been privileged to go there 3 times now, the last time was last month when I saw Paul Weller. It's a remarkable building that adds a special something to whatever event you got to see. The building is so iconic, from its beautiful exterior, through to the incredible space inside. When I've been at gigs there, I've often found myself just looking around the venue, taking it all in and sampling the atmosphere, almost as much as the band I've come to see. Even the inner corridor that links the entrances, box office, toilets, etc, is something special. Given the nature of the building, it's a completely circular corridor! And all the way along the corridor are colour photos of just some of the huge names that have played at the venue over the years. Worth taking a look as you walk round to see who you can spot - I think they vary the photos every so often. Do you know where your seats are yet? Hope you have a great time.

Oooh, that's a good one! Enjoy! Don't forget to let us know what you think. I wish you were on the same schedule too. Russell T Davies And in case you were wondering what Russell T Davies thinks of Stephen Moffatt's reign in charge of Doctor Who - he loves it! http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/cult/s7/doctor-who/news/a224680/russell-t-davies-loves-new-who.html In fact he says he'd love it, if they increased it to 20 shows a year! Russell's now living in LA, wanting to break into US TV, as well as continuing to write for Torchwood and the Sarah-Jane Adventures.

Last week was Amy's Choice for us, and what I saw of it wasn't at all bad. We had an exhausting day on Friday (jazz band festival and amusement park trip), and were in recovery mode on Saturday. When the children requested to watch the episode in my room, I knew I'd never make it through! That was awesome when he showed the library card with the first Doctor's photo, wasn't it!!! We thought that was a very, very cool touch!!!

Hey guys! I simply have to make time to watch this show. I have been meaning to since David M. starting talking about it some time ago. I looks to be something I would really enjoy. Have to find out when it's on in my area and start watching so I can join in the fun discussion here! I use to be very interested in Brideshead Revisited a while back when Anthony Andrews was starring a series about the war...just great! I've also been tuning in, rather inadvertantly, to some BBC comedy's lately and, I can't tell you how incredibly funny I am finding them...I had forgotten how really funny the British are...was laughing my head off!!
