Verified Fan

A lot of the Verified Fan anecdotes here seem to be based on the Springsteen Broadway sale, which I think may be its own beast given the high demand because I've had different experiences with it for more standard arena shows. It seems to me it's more like one of the other presale options, like the credit card or fan club presales where they set aside a block for it and whatever doesn't get sold during the presale winds up back in the regular sale pool. I've easily gotten tickets to shows where I didn't get a code. Sometimes I've gotten a code, but found there were better seats available through other presale options or just by waiting. From my experience I'm seeing it as another option to try so if you think there's a decent chance you'll go to these shows, sign up, but don't fret if you don't get it. However I have no idea how these particular sales will be run.
It will depend if they block all other presale options with VF or not. If Amex cardholders are allowed to shop without a code, or they don't block the VIP tix, for example, then that makes it better. Also if they do not use VF for the general sale and give everyone a chance to shop then. I've also dealt with VF for U2, they used it for their fan club which has paying members . Some of those members got shut out of codes and it was a huge fiasco since they were supposed to have had access to the presales as part of their paid memberships.. U2 also used VF for the general sale, I think.

Is the purpose of the "verified fan" presale to try and counteract touts (scalpers)? If so then, I think there are better ways to do that (Ed Sheerin's method for example). If a tout knows they have until Sunday to register, then they have as much chance as anyone else to get a code, especially if they have multiple email addresses. To me a "verified fan" is someone who's been registered with this site for say at least 12 months. Good luck to all those trying to get tickets for the Canadian shows.
It is to combat the bots that scalpels use to scoop up tickets during sales. It supposedly lets less people in at a time to make it easier for fans to get tickets. The codes are tied to each TM acct so only the account holder can use. But of course scalpels can sign up for codes...but the system is supposed to go thru your TM purchase history and determine that you are a "fan". That is why you have to wait to be "verified"Not everyone who signs up will get a code. Sometimes you get put on standby, which means that an hour into the sale, they may suddenly text out a code if there are still tix available. The Springsteen tix were normal delivery so after being purchased, lots of them found their way onto StubHub. Doesn't deter scalpels at all.
I used to be a nurse in the O.R., so your typo using “scalpels” several times instead of “scalpers” gave me a laugh!
Stupid iPad auto-word thing. I went back and fixed them.
You missed one!

Good point. Thankfully my experiences with VF so far have been non-exclusive, but if it's a prerequisite to all the other options that would indeed be not very good.

I received a code at 3 o'clock in the afternoon on the day of the sale. So keep an eye on your email and don't give up right away.

I believe that there will be American Express presales that run at the same time as the Verified Fan presales. So if you are an Amex cardholder and don’t get selected for a Verified Fan code, you’re not completely shut out.

I've got questions about this "verified fan" ballot:
-
I see that the pre-sale code is sent by SMS, so when you fill out your phone number do you put the "+" in front of the country code (for example, +55) or do you just type the numbers all together without the "+"?
-
Those who do get a code will buy tickets through Ticketmaster UK. Is it possible to collect tickets at the venue? If not, do they mail overseas? Or is print-at-home the only option?

Ticketmaster are the worst at selling on tickets at inflated prices from touts. No matter what system they use to sell tickets, the real fans are screwed over.Im not optomistic about getting tickets this time round.People in the past have received there code after the ticket sales have started.Still, fingers crossed for Wednesday morning and good luck to everyone else who is hoping to go.

Maybe TM is bad for some (in the U.K.?) but it has been great for me. Got 3rd row center in 2013 for Memphis (Hot Sound Package) They even refunded my money in 2017 when I immediately realized I clicked on the wrong city/venue and bought a ticket. Just called them right away and they reversed it out. Went back in (This was my first time buying through Paul’s site) and ended up with 4th row center at the proper venue.

really struggling to get my head around this verified fan business. apparently it looks at my data and decides whether i am eligible? So does this mean the system will see that I have bought countless Macca tickets before, meaning I am more likely to receive a code than someone who, say, hasn’t bought a ticket before? Also, if I asked my partner to register on my behalf. If he was selected for a code, could I use his link to buy tickets for myself and my other Macca- loving friend? Or would he have to be present too? So confused!!
Also, want to look at the Event Travel VIP Pre sale, but is this going through verified fan too? It’s not ticketmaster and I already have an Event Travel account so should this be easy to do?
P.S Good luck to all others who have applied for codes!

Despite what Ticketmaster says, I believe that Verified Fan is a lottery. For the Springsteen one, people who had been to many shows never got codes, but other people apparently created TM accounts in their kids' names and those new accounts which had never bought tix for anyone got codes.
If your partner gets a code, you must use his TIcketmaster account to purchase, the codes are linked to the specific accounts.
At this point, can't tell if Event Travel purchases will need a code. Doesn't say so anywhere.

I am fan verified for presale tomorrow...but assigned 1pm sale time. American express sale starts at 10am. Would you try Amex first and be happy if successful...or fan presale better tickets to wait for?(and maybe not get). By 1pm fan presale could be all gone.

I totally agree with you! By any chance do you have an AMEX card? It can be used at 10 am pre-sale.

i do have an amex, geernally those are block off tickets not premium tickets. also can we consolidate these fan verified threads? a united front so to speak. my only hope for canada is the VIP tickets are NOT fan verifed but i called TM twice and they said they were. UK said they were not. i dont know who to beleive and what to expect. all i know is i have one sad code waaaaaay after presale for 1 show while this happened friday. fan verified doesnt work, TM is tied in with stub hub. its a joke.
over 500 tickets on stub hub and the alike for Edmonton on FRIDAY!!!!!!

The Amex seats available may be different from the VF seats. Also, they may be releasing seats in blocks, so I wouldn't get my knickers in twist just yet. The VF seats onsale at 1pm may be seats that were not onsale at 10am.
Also, as I've said before, the presale doesn't always have the best seats anyways. There will be two more chances with LIve Nation presale, and regular onsale.
I got a 10am VF presale notice for Edmonton. It will be interesting to compare notes later on who got what when.

Oh. What a freaking mess! Also, the sale times are BST, so what time zone you are in will determine what perhaps crazy time in the morning you have to get up (or stay up late) if you want to try at 10 am.
P.S. I wrote to one of the Mods about merging this thread with the Ticket questions thread.

The question is, will the VIP tix be available once an Amex card unlocks the page, for those who want VIP. The system does not stop tix from being resold, all it does is stop the bots from coming in and buying up huge amounts of tickets and clogging the onsales. But it's really just a lottery where TM gets to choose who can try to buy. That's what bugs me about it. Let me shop, if I get shut out, then so be it. Don't deny me the chance tho. And I'm on waitlist, so I may not even get a code.

Me too. I'm going to check at 10am to see if Amex or VIP is available. If not, will try again at 1pm with code. Not really happy about this and don't see how it benefits real fans. I'm only trying for one Canadian show.

I've a feeling that you don't need to be a ''verified fan'' to buy vip tickets... both pre sales are listed separately and there is no mention of ''verified fan'' VIP presale. Also, on the Slotix website it is written '' ON SALE 10/07'' . no mention of a required code or anything. Maybe I'm overthinking this but oh well. I got selected for the 1pm presale (Quebec show) but I'll try to grab a VIP ticket at 10am
