True. They had some of the sounds recorded & they played it on the news. Your house & windows make all kinds of weird noises. I went out yesterday...in the car & had it parked outside for maybe 45 minutes. I got back in & the windshield looked like it was all cracked up. I touched it & it was frost! Never saw that before.

Extreme cold does weird things. The clutch froze to the pressure plate in my pickup once when it was 26 below air temp. Had to shut it off, and then start it in granny low after it warmed up and then drove most of the way around the block until it broke loose so I could shift gears normally. -33 is the coldest airtemp I have experienced. It was calm outside thankfully. Took a pan of hot water out onto the porch and tossed it into the air to show everyone how it turns into a cloud of steam when it's that cold.

I heard there have been 13 weather related deaths, one of them a college student in Iowa found frozen outside his dorms! Just awful!
It is 34 here now. Going down to 30. But warming trend through the next 5 days and supposed to be 68 by Tuesday!

They were warning against doing that here because of the wind. Throwing a pot of boiling water up in the air & having it get blown back into your face is not such a good idea. They were doing something with bubbles too. I think something was supposed to form inside the bubble but they couldn't get it to work correctly.

Here...well in the city...they brought in buses for the homeless people to sleep in. That's for the ones that refused to go to a shelter. Some people were still in their tents.

No, it is not something for unsupervised children or irresponsible adults to be doing. It is in the 30's and sunny today. Walked by a person sitting on a bench and playing a recorder flute earlier. Sounded awesome!!

Feels like summer & it's only 22...but oh, so much better than -45.

It was 52 today. But is was drizzling all day. Most of the snow is gone. It's gonna get cold again but not as bad as it was. From last week if you take in to account the wind chill we had like 100 degree swing in less than a week.

Insane! It is supposed to go up to 75 on Thursday here! (70 tomorrow)
-
It's around 19F and overcast. "Waiting For The Sun!"
-
OMG, it was so warm today (72) I was out in short sleeves with the window down in the car! Now it’s supposed to be 77 on Thursday! The lows (in the 50s) are our normal highs. But of course by Sunday the high will be 46. Great - going to a Fab Four tribute concert with my son that night.
-
I can't tell.. there's a lot of fog in the way...
-
It got up to 79 today! I had to put the A/C on upstairs! Tomorrow high of 55.
-
It's cold and it blows...
It is so windy that i can't tell.
-
Cold, but no wind and It Is SUNNY!!!
-
It is cold as one would expect in a place that hosts winter longer than the season is scheduled for ...
The wind has finally stopped or is so mild that it appears to have no wind.
Cold, but ,,, all blue sky and sunny ...
Because the sky is blue...
-
A little nicer than yesterday
-
Another mixed bag expected again this week.
* The schools and some business places have closed 5-10 times this year ( and it is only February)...
Depending on above and below freezing...
Expected snow, rain, freezing rain, sleet ...
Just have to wait and see...
The anticipation and early warnings by the weather service get some people anxious and off balance...
Perhaps i am early about saying this ...
As of now ... snow last night ... more expected later today and the mixed bag ...

^ Sounds like our forecast too. It was really windy today which made it so much worse.
