Worth seeing Paul McCartney?
-
I'm considering to see Paul McCartney on last year's European tour. Not really sure though whether I should go...
Appart from hefty ticket prices, I'm concerned it will destroy my image of him and his music. Never seen him or any other Beatle live. In my mind, they are still in their twenties, looking cool, and writing and recording the most amazing music. Not sure I want to remember Paul as a narcicisstic old rockstar on a stage in the far distance in a giant stadium, playing songs that just don't sound right without the other three boys...
Really not into spending that much money on a Beatles cover band...On the other hand, reviews seem to be pretty good. And who knows for how long he'll go on touring, might be one of the last chances for me seeing a member of my favourite band live...
Would love to hear your experiences, cheers!

Why oh why did you not see Paul before? Are you young and were not around when he toured in the ‘70s, ‘90s etc.? From what you said, I would not go see him. You will be very disappointed. Just watch old videos of him from 2005 and earlier when his voice was still sublime.
As you can see from my signature, I’ve seen him 8 times since 1976, so I’ve watched his decline. I did see him this year and it was most noticeable during Maybe I’m Amazed. I probably won’t spend those high $ to see him again.

I hope you get a chance to see Paul. I see up to 20 bands a year, and Paul's band is still my favorite to see every year since 2008.
He has been with this band longer than he was with the Beatles! They are very tight together and have a great dynamic sound together. Paul has written a lot of great music after leaving the Beatles. While I always have the most special feelings for the BeaTles in my heart... Paul and Linda and Wings , Fireman and all other variations of Paul's music has continued to evolve over time. I really really think you will enjoy the show!!! It's a BEAUTIFUL show and I like to say it's where people of all ages come together for happiness and PEACE on Earth for the duration of the show. As you are leaving, the crowds start singing Paul's songs while walking to their cars. My friends and I just love Paul's shows!!!

I recommend not going. If you only see Paul as a 20 year old Beatle, you might be disappointed to learn he has had a 50 year career after they broke up. His concerts are mostly Beatles songs, but Ringo is never there, and sadly, John and George cannot join him on stage.
However, if you want to see a great musician who still has impressive energy for his or any age put on a great show with a talented band, go.
