Swaying Daisy:
Hi everybody just checking in!
Hi Starr, just wondering if you got my email from the other day? D I was telling you that I met Sam Leach and he thought I was you! My name really is Star (short for Starlett), is yours really Starr?
-
Hi, Sam. What do you think of the possibililty that Beatles originals masters could be released? Now, in a CD-Rom with a program added to mix them or record over them will be a tremendous release. I think that would be the best selled "album" ever. But's it's not an album, I know... but EMI will win billion dollars from it I think... We know that anyway in 2012-2020 the Beatles copyright will expire. So if I think it's the greatest moment to released them. Love, Oliver.

HEy everyone, Here is something that cracks me up. One guy at the gym said the beatles were way overrated and another guy said no you're kidding and he said no and the other guy said mabye they're musicianship but they were good at writing lyrics and the guy said they wrote crappy lyrics I Want TO Hold YOur Hand, the guy who defended them said that is their bublegum crap but the white album Sgt.Pepper and all that I like. The guy said they were in the right place at the right time and the other guy agreed with him and said something else I can't remeber. I told the guy that all his hard rock musicians were inspired by the beatles and he said not Jimi Hendrix. Anyway After that guy who called them overrated left the gym I talked to the other guy and he said you know the beatles aren't overrated and I agreed and mentioend great songs like Give Peace A Chance Helter Skelter and Eet'Em In and Silly Love Songs. The guy said that is because the other guy is into hardcore stuff and listens to bands that aren't popular and I said he hasn't seen Paul in concert and that Paul plays, the bass, guitar, sings and writes his music if that isn't talent then it is godo acting. We also talked about how too much of that guy's music can make your ears deaf and that is why the beatles are perfect. I don't want to start a fight but let you know how hilarious I think it is that this guy thought the beatles were overrated. He didn't realize the beatles were pretty raw in their time. Thinking about him saying that makes me laugh.

I think that one of most surprising think in the Beatles is that despite of his unmeasureable success they were not overrated. In history Genius had always been little successful, only recognized generations after. But The Beatles were good and were #1. They are the most successful band and the musically best... what is... surprising. It don't happens in almost any other things. What hardcore use to "hate" bout Beatles was his success, the Beatlemania and that stuff. But they don't stop and think that then they changed all the cultural world. It seems that if you are successful you're not good. Is easy to think that these days... But check out Please Please Me, She Loves You, Can't Buy Me Love and A Hard Day's night and the hardcore musician will realize that hardcore was played by the Beatles then. But this music was a style too little for them, so they opened the doors of early rock'n'roll to every kind of music. Some hardcore musicians call pop Ringo drum beat "Emo"... it seems that has been invented by them : Hardcore is rock! my god. Emo is pop. The difference is that rock'n'roll and The Beatles grew to new dimensions "eating" classical music, indian music, jazz, blues, country... and resulting in metal, symphonic songs, psycodelia... I often thing as The Beatles as the "trunk" of modern music. They united several roots... (Berry, Elvis, Richard, Orbison, Beach Boys, Everly Brothers... Mozart, Beethoven...) and produce a lot of branches... all the styles that there are today... even hardcore(as said before), emo (Eight Days A Week), metal (Helter Skelter), techno(Tomorrow Never Knows), and of course pop, rock... All is in the Beatles.
-
Well said 21st Century Paul. What this guy doesn't realzie is that the beatles played what was considered hardcore at teh Cavern in the early days and were originally raw. What does Emo mean?
-
Hi Giri (Paulfan). Clearly the nutter who said The Beatles were crap is an idiot who no one usually speaks to. So the only way he can get someone to engage him in conversation is by slagging The Beatles. And it seems to have worked !! You should have ignored him....right !! Cheers. Sam.

Emo is a mix of hardcore and pop, I think. They use the drumming beat of Beatle pop songs... like Eight Days A Week... "Hold me (dum dum), looove me (dum dum)" while clapping hands... add this struendous punk guitars and you have a thing called emo. I think all is rock'n'roll with several names... The Beatles were as raw as they want. The same day that they recorded Yesterday, they recorded I'm Down too. Or you got many songs you know... and the early years they tend to be have a heavier sound... so that boy have no idea about the Beatles... Bob Dylan said "Don't critize what you can undestand..."
-
Yes Sam I should have. I was having a conversation with the guy though another guy at the gym. THey were talking about the kinds of music they liked and I mentioned the beatles and he siad that. hE thinks the only reason they got big was because they were in the right place at the right time. Obivisouly he hasn't seen Paul in concert. He is a nice guy who I talk to alot but he said that when we were in conversation about musicians we like. This guy likes mostly hardcore music.

Thanks for telling me what Emo is. This guy is a nice guy who I altked to wasn't starting trouble just expressing his opinion. He thought I Want To Hold Your Hand was crappy. You are right the beatles did have a heavier sound in their early years and Brian Epstein made them tone down. I agree with wha Bob Dylan said. The Beatles could play rock and pop and even country and blues.Maybe this guy hasn't really listened to them.

Funny thing also I saw a website called Help The Beatles suck and the person who put the website up thinks the only reason the beatles became successful is because of amrketing.
-
Hey Sam hope 2 Starr's dont confuse you here! lol! you know which one i am! Well at least they're not spelled the same! Have a good weekend! Sara
-
Escuse me I meant marketing.
-
Hi Starr No confusion. It's simple. Your Starr is the same as Ringo's...right !! Love and hugs. Sam.

The Beatles have undoubtedly become a success... that can't be argued when you look at the facts. ...and having sweet beautiful girls chasing you...? G., isn't that every man's favourite dream? and another thing... Comparing people or things... amongst socializing human beings can lead to divisions, frictions and sometimes even conflicts... myself i like to say good things about others and not be critical of others... because, i have faults of my own... who am i to criticize? What was it that all your mamas used to say... "if you can't say anything nice about someone... _______ (fill in the blank)" eye nose zit! ...and you all do too!

What is "the right place at the right time"? It was the Casanova Club in 1961 meeting with Sam Leach ? It was George Martin and Epstein? It was the Ed Sullivan Show? It was planet Earth in the '60s? Of course you need marketing to have success. Ok. But.. let's remark the Beatles are these days the best sold artist EVERY year, even without marketing. And the Beatles not only "Achieved" success, they held it, for quality reasons, as well as other bands had dissapeared after a #1 and no-one remembers of them. But we remember the Beatles... don't you think? Like many people "remember" Mozart or Beethoven. The Beatles will always be here, forever. And that's not because of marketing. You can call it magic, talent, genius... or whatever. You need some marketing to be successful but it doesn't mean that if you're successful you are not talented! :

I wish you were with me yesterday 21stCenturyPaul then you could have explained this to that guy. the Beatles referred to as bubblegum music in the early days cracks me up. Speaking of marketing you can check what one guy said at Help The Bealtes Suck website.

Well said! yes I've heard the saying if you can't say anything nice about someone don't say anything at all. I wish people who use freedom of speech would sometimes remember thsi saying.Yes having girls chase you is every man's dream. I wish I could have explained this to the guy yesterday. Oh well I'll just ignore him. I just wanted to let everyone know what I heard yesterday and kind of cracked up about it.

Hi, Paulfan!... I've got an idea That boy says Beatles were just a lucky band. That boy says he like hardcore. That boy doesn't like I Want To Hold Your Hand. Ok, if you saw him again try to suggest him one thing... If he plays in a band tell them just to try to play one time I Want To Hold Your Hand in hardcore style. Just this thing and then after this ask him what does he think about The Beatles. : This song's melody is so great that you can play it as a classic ballad with strings or like the Beatles recording or in a fastly hardcore way... Good luck.
-
Okay I'll try 21stCenturyPaul. I hope I have the courage to do what you said and it works.
