What is everyone's favorite Elvis Presley film?
Change of Habit. It's one of the very few movies I can actually sit through.

Yep, that's the one. The U.S. Air Force, who want to build a base on Smokey Mountain, are met with a hostile reception from the hillbillies that own it. Josh Morgan, a public relations officer finds that he is related to Jodie Tatum, one of the hillbillies who lives there ( both played by Elvis ), and is his exact double. He uses this to go in undercover and try to persuade Pappy Tatum that selling the mountain is a good idea. Best scene is when all the predictably gorgeous mountain girls try on their presents, bought by Josh - bikinis, of course.

Hehe, yeah, it could only be "The King". One was blonde, and one had black hair if I'm not mistaken. Anyway, isn't the anniversary of his death coming up in August, I'll be expecting a plethora of shows dedicated to the great man, including the screening of some of these "classic" movies!
-
16th of August it will be twenty seven years. No doubt they'll be something about Elvis on some tv channel.
-
Today in Elvis Presley History 1954 - Elvis Presley signed a recording contract with Sun Records and a one-year personal management contract with Scotty Moore.
-
Today in Elvis Presley History 1999 - The Elvis Presley album "Artist of the Century" was released.
-
Today in Elvis Presley History 1988 - The Nashiville radio station WYHY offered $1 million dollars to anyone who could produce Elvis Presley alive.

2004 will go down into history as one of the years that Elvis fans were spoilt by a stream of remarkable releases. One of the highlights (along with the '68 Comeback DVDs) is definitely the "Elvis, Aloha from Hawaii" Deluxe Edition double DVD-set which assembles about everything connected to Elvis' historical television special in January 1973, at the time beamed throughout the world by satellite. Included on the DVD is the rehearsal concert, released as Alternate Aloha as audio only. Now we get to see this concert in FULL! As satellite technologhy in the 70's was not as advanced as today this rehersal concert was recorded to be screened in the event of a technical faliure with the live event. In this concert we see Elvis in a much more relaxed mood, no pressure. In Aloha he seems more tense at the though of being seen live by around a billion people! Musically the rehearsal seems much looser too with more flamboyance from Ronnie Tutt on the drums and water being thrown at Glenn Hardin the piano player. We also get to see the huge stage show that is Elvis, not just the man himself but his backing singers, the fantastic J.D. Sumner and the Stamps quartet, The Sweet Inspirations female backes, Kathy Westmoreland's High Soprano voice. The Elvis TCB Band James Burton, John Wilkinson, Ron Tutt, Charlie Hodge, Glen Hardin and Jerry Scheff, all fantastic musicians in their own right, AND a full orchestra! Brilliant.

Today in Elvis Presley History 1957 - Elvis Presley's single "(Let Me Be Your) Teddy Bear" hit #1 in the U.S. 1957 - Elvis Presley's single "All Shook Up" hit #1 in the U.K. 1963 - Filming began on the Elvis Presley film "Viva Las Vegas." 1989 - The white suit and cape that Elvis Presley wore during the "Aloha From Hawaii" TV concert was stolen from the home of Presley impersonator Charlie Stickerod. 1997 - The Elvis Presley album "Platinum - A Life in Music" was released.

I got back from Memphis yesterday. I had been there before but its always fun. We went to Graceland on Saturday and it was great but a little too crowded. One thing I wanted to do but didn't get to this time was to take a picture with Elvis. In one of the gift shops at Graceland they had this place where you could choose a scene with Elvis in it and have your picture taken with a blue screen background. Then they inserted you into the Elvis photo. Everyone should go to Sun Studios (I guess I should say Studio because its basically one room), it was my second visit but I still got goosebumps just thinking about all of the incredible music that was made in that place! Our only disappointment was that they had closed the Elvis Presley's Memphis restaurant on Beale street. The sign on the door said it was closed last September. I wonder why they closed it. Some guy told us they were losing money but it was packed everytime I visited before.
-
Sounds like you had a wonderful time...I really want to go to Graceland and sun studios. Your story makes me even more determined.

Not only his songs, but the very name of music mogul Elvis Presley will now be music to ears for many. According to The Mirror, the singer's name has emerged as the favourite home security password. In an attempt to avoid spurious callers, British Gas is asking their customers to select a secret code for house calls and the name of the rock king has emerged as the top name for this code. The top 10 names for the password are: 1 Elvis Presley 2 John Lennon 3 Lord Lucan 4 Maggie Thatcher 5 Buddy Holly 6 Stanley Matthews 7 Father Christmas 8 Glenn Miller 9 John F Kennedy 10 J R Ewing

I hope you get to go there! Being such a big Elvis fan I know you would probably love it. When I finally got to Liverpool last year I felt like I was walking on air the whole time. There are a lot of other places you could find in Memphis also that are associated with Elvis such as his old high school. You should also go to his birthplace in Tupelo, Mississippi when you visit. At Elvis's birthplace they have the two room cabin he was born in, and they have also built a museum there. This time in Memphis, we also visited the Rock and Soul museum which is near Beale Street. It was interesting. They had a tape narration you could listen to so you could go at your own pace (Graceland has something similar). The Rock and Soul museum went through music in Memphis ranging from the early black music and country into the Elvis era and into the 60's and 70's. Then we took in the Stax Records museum as well. They had a film and memorabilia from Stax records in the 60's, who had singers like Otis Redding and Isaac Hayes. That was interesting to me, because I did not know all of that music came from Memphis, I guess I thought most of it came from Motown. The main reason we chose to go there was because they had a Beatles photo exhibit on display there for the summer. It was photos taken when the Beatles were on the Ed Sullivan show and in Miami in 1964. Oh, in the Stax museum there was a display that said the Beatles wanted to go there and record in the 60's but word got out and too many girls/fans were hanging about the area so they didn't go! I'd heard the same story about Sun studios too, so maybe they wanted to go to both places. I still want to get those new dvds. They sound great.

I saw Elvis in 1976 when I was 8 or 9. I need to look up the exact date, my mom still has the tickets somewhere. Unfortunately, I can't say that I remember too much. My main memory is that he had all of these scarves and kept wiping his sweat on them and tossing them to the audience!
