glad you think so! i'm thinking of getting into short stories when i have time. i have to read some first though, to see how they work. i just get the feeling that writing is something good to stick to, since it can sort of be work and enjoyment at the same time. i just wish i didn't have to write silly essays so much of the time. good essays i love writing, but silly ones are a waste of time except i need the marks. that's life i guess. i always thought writing would be a great sort of profession. you can do it anywhere and you set your own hours. but what you need is a good idea (like harry potter, although that's more a popular idea than a particularly genius one) otherwise you end up broke. but once i work out how short stories work (everything has some sort of formula) i'll see how that goes. i'll write one and put it here.

here's the silly essay i had to write today: Thomas Schatz describes the Western as a popular mythology providing the opportunity to ?examine the values, attitudes and ideals associated with westward expansion and the taming and civilizing? of the American West, partly through such thematic oppositions as civilization vs. wilderness. Choose one of the following Westerns: The Wild Bunch Shane Compare and contrast the film?s perspective on the mythology and themes of the Western to that of one of the two westerns screened in class. Be sure to take into account aspects of style as they relate to genre traits and themes in the film you choose. duh and urgh. and that was the best question of the bunch.

i suppose you might as well have 55 now. i haven't written any more, but i think i'm happy enough with this chapter so far. hope you like it. FIFTY-FIFTH INSTALMENT You see him standing before you, a few yards away. He has his hands wedged in his tight pockets and his weight on one foot, the other leg slightly bent at the knee. His eyes draw your attention to his face as he looks at you from where he stands. You can?t help but see how young he is, how perfect the curves of his cheeks, how smooth his white skin. His look is one of quiet confidence, his eyes unwavering, full of anticipation for a whole world to come to his beck and call. One dark, beautiful eyebrow is slightly raised, the other perfectly curved, his thick dark hair meticulously sculpted to give the impression of wild irreverence. You look at his full lips, his slightly dimpled chin, the set of his jaw. That perfect nose, those lovely ears: you know all these features so well yet now you see them anew, as though you are looking at an angel, just now forged from the light of heaven. He seems to you bold and noble, but with a natural innocence that softens his sharp gaze. You find yourself drawn by some powerful force as you take a step towards him, and another, never unlocking your eyes from his. He takes his hands from his pockets and holds them out to you as you approach. You reach out and take them in your own. His lips part slightly as you advance, revealing a glimpse of beautiful white teeth. You notice his beautiful dark lashes as he closes his eyes, and the image of his pure features remains on your retina as you lower your own eyelids and your lips meet his. Your hands move to his neck as you feel his gently hold your waist. The ground beneath your feet seems to liquefy as your very being is focused on this embrace. His kiss is unlike any you have experienced. It is full of passion without being rough or sloppy; firm and purposeful yet gentle and deliberate. His breath is sweet as your lips part and he once again looks you in the eye. Your hands move to his upturned collar. You run your fingers around it from the back and down his lapels. Like a woman possessed you undo each button of his jacket without taking your eyes off his. He lowers his arms from your waist and the garment slowly slips to the ground. Now he moves his hands to behind your back and you allow him to take your weight in his arms as he lowers you backwards. You experience a feeling of absolute trust, something you have never felt before towards anyone. You feel yourself lying on a soft surface that you hadn?t been aware of before. Again you feel his lips against yours, the amazing energy he possesses transferred to you through his touch. His gentle hands move carefully to the buttons of your shirt. One by one he undoes them, slowly freeing you of your worldly garb. Now his delicate caress is unlike any worldly sensation. You feel the power, innocence and sumptuous youth flow through you, the purity of the union of the divine and nature, the passion of all creation becomes concentrated within your very soul yet you are totally detached from all but this bold youth with whom your connection fills your world. You run your fingers through his hair. You feel his smooth bare skin against yours. You feel a draft on one side of your face. You become aware of sound, and light comes to your puffy eyes. The world of five senses returns as you feel scratch of wool on your cheek and the weight of a warm blanket on top of you. You hear footsteps close to you and manage to force your drowsy muscles to roll your body over. Your eyes slowly open and focus on that face. The bold youth stands before you. That confidence, that perfectly crafted beauty. What a piece of work is a man! ?Morning,? he says in his velvety voice. You blink once or twice and attempt to open your mouth. No sound comes out. ?Sorry, I didn?t mean to wake you up,? says he. ?Hs ogay,? you manage, when what you really mean is ?how dare you wake me while you?re in the middle of making love to me!? Already the image of light in your mind is fading. You struggle to retain the sensations you are certain you have just experienced but already even the memory is melting away. You had no doubt that it was all real, more real than anything had ever been, and that feeling of absolute reality will remain long after the faintest recollection has slipped from your consciousness. Paul opens the curtains and sun streams in onto your face. You take a deep blissful breath as it falls on your cheek and your waking mind comes to the foreground of your being once more.

OMG, Ringo11, that was beautiful! How long did it take you to write? I'd have kept getting distracted (the mind it wanders ). How many Maccattacks did that involve?
-
HOLY COW!!! That was utterly amazing!! I feel a Macca attack coming on!!
-
lol. well it didn't take all that long to write. the hardest bit is thinking of enough adjectives really apart from that it was easy. i wrote it a while ago now, and then went back and read it, changed a few words, but it's not all that long so it wasn't all that hard. and besides, there was no complicated plot to work out, not characters to get right, no places to figure out, so really it was much easier than usual. glad you like it!
-
I have to repeat blakbrd.......wow!!!!!!!!!!! That was beautiful! I have to get back to reality and take the children swimming now, but later when they're in bed and it's all dark and quiet I will have to read that through again to fully appreciate it! Julie
