because adults of teens dont undestand
-
Because teens don't understand that their parents have been there and done that. But it takes experience in life to come around and when you're 30, you say, I wish I'd listened to Mom and Dad. But it is a normal part of growing up to question authority during the second stage ot adolescence because of the experiences you have. There's nothing abnormal about it at all, and your parents went through it too. Lol, probably are hiding alot of things in the closet on you about themselves. Ever heard the saying, "Well I'd never done that when I was your age?" I'll bet you they did. Ha ha. Take a big bite of the world out there, kid. It bites back! But good luck. Your parents still love you, it's just hard to let go because you're afraid your kids will make the same mistakes as you or worse. We have a problem with hanging on to that apron string for some reason. Not to mention Grandma is harping on us to get control over that kid. Love and kisses from a couple of teenager's mom.

because Ms, Beckie's cat photo is soooo cute! I love cats & dogs too!
-
Because my husband and I joke that we should have an animal "statue of liberty." We get all the strays here and take care of them. There is no animal control in our county so the rule is this: If you feed them three times, they are yours. I own all the deer, the oppossums, the cats, dogs, squirrels, birds, and raccoons. Oh give me a home, where the 'animals' roam, and I'll feed and take them to the vet all the day....
-
Ms. Beckie, where do you live that there is no animal control???? I have yet to find a state that does not have animal control of some sort. 2 more animals & we're going to have to apply for a kennel license. Good thing none of our neighbors are aware of the fact that we have quite a few animals. And if they did, they can't do a thing about it - all are neutered/spayed & very well taken care of.

The poorest County in Indiana, Crawford County. We called them once about a big problem with a pack of wild dogs that came around and was out of our control. They were wild, so we couldn't catch them. We couldn't do anything with them and they were killing all the cats and livestock. They just shrugged their shoulders and said, We tried to do something but PETA sued, so if you feed them, they're yours. Legally, you do have to pay taxes on the dogs. But very few people claim the dogs, so they don't pay the taxes. They told my husband, "just don't tell us what you do about it." The vet told me, he has a beef with PETA. The farmers were having trouble and a young 15-year-old was killed by a pack. When the county went to deal with it, there was a law suit. When the farmers called the vet, he found a cow lying, dying with the calf half out of her and the pack was eating it, and her as she was laboring. The vet got too near, the pack chased him into the car, then he just told the farmer, to shoot them. You see, theoretical laws are not reality. If the county has no money to pay for all these things the State passes laws to have, they just can't do it. But they don't think of that when they make the laws. : And the taxes here are already the highest around. There are alot of things we don't have here, though we are "supposed to." Right now we just have some cats. We had had our dog nuetered but he died this spring. The male cat was a stray and I can't catch him, and he got to my kitten before we could spayed her. Now I'm waiting for her to wean the kittens. The rest of our friends are wild and we don't touch them. They just come up to the porch to eat. But I live next to classified forest, so you can't touch them. The deer come to eat the corn and beans, thus we can't keep a garden, the rabbits eat everything, too, and so far, we haven't found much to stop them. I used to have a mother and baby raccoon living in the rafters of our porch, but they went away last fall. Spraying hot sauce mixed with water and light soap did stop the raccoons from eating the corn off the stalk, though. We tried hemp rope and electric fences to keep the deer out, but they just jumped over it. Life is different when you live in the boonies. >>>Fighting to keep some kind of symbiotic relationship with nature.

Ms. Beckie, over the years I've lived in large cities, villages, suburbs & now the country side. Feral cats are an enigma. There are those that will never be caught, those that will let humans they trust get close but not too close & then the ones that learn to trust & become house pets. PETA goes to different extremes. Some good, some bad. That vet should've had a tranquilizer gun to shoot at the wild dogs from a safe distance. A real sin for the animals that had to suffer. You have a good heart where wildlife/feral animals are concerned. Bless you. If I had the means, I'd have an sanctuary for all animals. Anyway, because I really should be working instead of posting here.
-
because its freezing 7 degrees
-
Because...The vet told me he couldn't hit the side of a barn with a gun. Oh well. Even PETA has had to "put down" alot of dogs and cats. The same for feral cats goes for dogs. What peeves me is people don't want to take care of them so they take them out to the country, drop them off, then we have to deal with them. It would have been better to take them to a shelter, and at least try to get them adopted. Several years ago, I remember on Earth day, including taking supplies to a local shelter. The vet I told you about has a shelter and has found homes for alot of strays. They could use the help. It takes alot of money and supplies to care for these animals. Makes me think maybe I should look around to see if I have some things. Where in the world do you live, Beatle1909? 7 degrees?
-
because I love animals & volunteer from time to time at our local shelter. because I have a way with animals & while I haven't been able to tame every single feral animal that has found it's way to my yard, I do my best to see to it that they have food & water. And if some of them decide to take shelter in our woodpile or hidden from view in our ferns (from Spring thru Fall), I would do what I am able to protect them.

Because I feel stupid now that I looked to the left and saw Beatle lives in Sydney, Australia. :
