I LOVE POEMS

Cupid's Bow High above the crowds he stands Bow and arrow poised in hand Unsuspecting crowd below Walk through the sights of Cupid's bow Until he spies a likely target Pulls back his bow and takes a shot The arrow slices through the air It's magic powers to ensnare? The arrow of love it met it's mark the sun was fading... growing dark The magic spell met it's design Red balloons rise in the air Bump for Valentine's Day... wrote this a couple of years ago, as I got off the bus at dusk and saw the statue, I saw a handful of red balloons rising high into the air...

^^ beautiful poem L2T! Perfect for Valentine's Day!️
-
oh valentine...oh valentine oh valentine oh valentine your smile lights up the sun raised in rags and poverty a child on the run the stench of war and violence fill your nostrils while you sleep you focus on the inner dream ...the nightmare makes you weep oh valentine oh valentine someday we'll fly away and land upon an isle of peace where smiles light up the day

Really great one Steve. Oh Valentine!

I've written hundreds of poems (in Norwegian). I liked to write them but nobody likes to read them. I've made a poetry blog of my poems. Hey, It's the Internet era! I've used it as a modern online trashcan... I haven't seen any Norwegians while I've been here on McCartney.com, I think it's safe to link the site. https://tikkende.wordpress.com/

I liked this one! WHAT SHE DREAMS Sleep sleeping quiet when she dreams by your side capricious lines in her face resting quietly her senses wiper muted in your heart when you awake at what she dreams hidden behind slumber deep bosom And she dreams when she breathes deep puff and is near you when you kiss her neck runs her hand over puzzles you do not see in clammy caress cradles sleep clutching soft in your hands when she dreams chained to their longings And when she wakes up at your side she recalls their longings miss dream while resting swallow hidden behind heart harsh barrier To kiss her lips and look into her eyes stroking the sleep out of puzzles hidden behind dreams touching but never see Søvnen sover stille når hun drømmer ved din side lune linjer i hennes ansikt hviler rolig hennes sanser visker dempet i ditt hjerte når du våker ved hva hun drømmer skjult bak søvnens dype favn Og hun drømmer når hun puster dype drag og er deg nær når du kysser hennes nakke stryker hånden over gåter du ikke ser i klamme kjærtegn vugger søvnen knuget bløt i dine hender når hun drømmer lenket fast i sine lengsler Og når hun våkner ved din side vil hun minnes sine lengsler savne drømmens svale hvile skjult bak hjertets harde stengsel du vil kysse hennes lepper og se inn i hennes øyne stryke søvnen ut av gåter skjult bak drømmer du berører men aldri vil få se

SurSteven, I love your isle of peace line. Didn't know you and L2T were such great poets! I'll start reading this thread more often. As promised, here's my little bird poem. It was published in JOMP 17: What Will the Birds Eat? Wearing a foot of snow like a high white top hat on his naked-wood thatched roof, the little birdhouse, now aslant, surrenders to the glistering stillness of our backyard. The feeder is secured, dangling in the dip of the iron shepherd?s staff. This is what the birds see when they search for seed. One ambitious cardinal, puffing herself up like a tiny beach ball, hunkers down on the icy snow covered branch beside the pole. She catches me making out her yellowish-tan feathers and dazzling orange beak through the window. Eyes lowered, breath held, I about-face with as much stealth as I can muster Don't fly away. Please, please stay. After a moment, I steal a look back. Only her eyes move.

Very Nice, Fan4! It creates quite the vision in the mind's eye. Have had those feelings of wanting to "freeze the moment in time" on many occasions.

Awww Fan4.... I love this so.... I so love birds!! Have had feeders for years, however had to leave them at my old house. This lovely poem brought back watching them feed in the winter....I could watch them for hours ...it's so meditative and amusing! Thanks sooo much for sharing this and I look forward to seeing more of your poems! Oh, and congratulations on getting published

Awwww thanks, Luv2. This one got honorable mention. I was very happy and surprised. Sorry to hear you had to leave your feeders behind! You'll get new ones for the new place, right?

Thanks Steven. I fully expected the bird to fly off, once she'd seen me by the window, but was delighted she didn't. When I snuck a look back, she just looked away, lol. Totally unexpected!

I really did enjoy this one, even tho the translation may not be exact! Watching someone sleep is quite nice Thank you for sharing it with us...
-
Thanks, the translation is a little messy, but not so bad beacuse it's not one of my poems where I play with words, It's kind of straight forward with 'sweetness' or what to say. Almost like a song lyric, I think.

Yes, I could see that...it is very sweet...very touching to read. A very sweet emotion, watching a loved one sleep...you feel that from the poem! I really do enjoy it and have read it a few times now...
