Don't forget the 70's tours. There was nothing like Wings Over America in 76 !Detroit May 7th, The group had that famous pic of them taken along the highway with the big tire....Paul cut his finger slicing a pizza & had a bandaid on- he told the story onstage- & he got his Red Wings sticker that night, that he still has on his "Yesterday" guitar....

I go back so far,I'm in front of me

Ok, I'll go: 1976 - Wings Over America in Denver! Paul came onstage with his Rickenbacker bass, I was 12 and in awe! Smoke and bubbles, and colored lights filled the stage, we all had small red and green dots on us as he sang Venus and Mars. 1989 - Three nights at the Forum in Los Angeles! Opening night was awesome, Beatles songs were great, and on the second night, Stevie Wonder came on stage and sang Ebony and Ivory! 1993 - Two shows - 1) Las Cruces, New Mexico! My home state!! When Paul said "Good evening, New Mexico! Las Cruces, Albuquerque, Santa Fe, El Paso!" We were all HI HI HI!! 2) Boulder, CO, bought a single ticket, ended up in the tenth row front and center! Closest I've seen McCartney. 2002 - Denver, cool opening with all the circus actors, then Hello Goodbye, a highlight for me. We got $150 tickets just off Paul's stage right, we were about ten rows away from where his guitars were, every time he came to switch guitars we yelled and he waved to us. Fab! 2009 - Las Vegas, Nevada at the Joint. 4,000 seat venue, the smallest place I ever saw Paul, it was a great show, intense, and I loved Helter Skelter. For Live and Let Die, I think the whole building almost caught fire, the flames were so hot.

Nothing will ever match the first time I saw Paul, it was Chicago 2002, the whole pre-show and the way his silouette appeared on the huge screen gave me chills. I could not believe I was sitting in the same building, singing Hey Jude with the man. Also the same year I ended up getting a vip package at chicago on the second leg of the tour...that was a lot of fun. I also will always remember Nashville in 2010, Paul seemed to really love the crowd reaction that night, and he played Ram on..quite a surprise. Dallas in 2010 at the new football stadium was interesting due to the large crowd. Wrigley field was also special since I am a life long Cubs fan and had been to wrigley many times but never thought I would see my favorite artist of all time there.

I agree the "oldies" are special as I too was watching that Sunday in February many years ago. It is really amazing to me to read how the majority of the younger fans do not want to hear the Beatles songs and would prefer the solo material. I am thinking are you kidding this is the Beatles music the greatest band in rock and roll history, but I do understand it,if you did not grow up with it and experience "Beatle Mania" then you go with what hits your sweet spot. For me give me all that old stuff and more.

I don't think anyone is going to deny that the Beatles are the greatest band ever and that the songs are part of our DNA, but there is a time to balance it out a little and retire some of the songs Paul has crushed the life out of because of overplaying, and that includes Wings tunes too. I do think that Paul has pleased the Beatles fans enough and it's about time "McCartney fans" had a bit of a look in too. When you go to a gig there's nothing like the buzz you get when you hear something you're not expecting, familiarity breeds contempt.

I agree that I would like to see material he has not done, but there is also a lot of Beatles material he has not done. I was also referencing some posts that list songs to take out and it was all old Beatles tunes when you have Let me Roll it in the set list for how long yet because it was more of a contemporary song of the younger crowd they don't list it, well that works both ways my favorite memories are of old Beatles songs. I love all his career and would love to hear Wings material or Solo songs also but there is no way you can strip some of the older material. Besides Paul also knows that the majority of the fans and concert goers are not 30 and below in age. As stated before he is never going to please everyone, and if he strips the set list of classic Beatle songs eventually the oldr fans will not spend like they have in the past to go to concerts over and over.

I am a BIG Beatles fan, but also wonder about McCartney doing TOO MUCH Beatles. It is a tough call, he WAS in the band and produced some of his greatest work back then. Still, out of a fifty year career, the Beatles were seven years of that career. It seems to me it would be reasonable for McCartney to have his show be a third Beatles, a third Wings, and a third solo material. Doing a show that is two thirds Beatles and even performing songs by the others that aren't really tributes (Please Please Me, Day Tripper) seems unnecessary. Yeah, it is cool and fab, but why not do some solo or Wings tunes instead?

I don't think anyone is suggesting he does that... Can't Buy Me Love We Can Work It Out Fool on the Hill Birthday What You're Doing Here There and Everywhere Good Day Sunshine Rocky Raccoon Martha My Dear For No One Are all songs he has either never done or not done for a while and I simply suggest some other songs like Get Back, Drive My Car, Back in the USSR to name a few have had their day (for now) and it's time to step aside and let some of those other Beatles' classics be played. Nobody is going to be upset about that, keeps the fans who have seen all the recent shows and the casuals happy. He also has a long list of great solo songs that he hasn't played ever/in a long time... Listen to What the Man Said Silly Love Songs Uncle Albert Backseat of My Car Beautiful Night My Brave Face This One Ever Present Past Hi Hi HI etc etc I'm not suggesting he fills the set with obscurities and drops all the Bealtes classics, that isn't going to happen. He could shake things up though so the folks who heard him in 2011 and 2012 don't need to hear the exact same show again. I don't go round giving off because he is playing Beatles songs...I love The Beatles!! My issue is that he's playing the same old Beatles songs, ones that weren't even a big deal until he flogged them to within an inch of their lives and made them a big deal! Same with the solo stuff, how has Let Me Roll It basically lasted 37 years in the show with a break in '79!?!? Something like this would surely keep everyone happy? Keeps plenty of Beatles tunes while keeping plenty of variety for the people who have seen the last few shows. Good Day Sunshine Jet All My Loving Juniors Farm You Won't See Me Ever Present Past Letting Go What You're Doing Lady Madonna Listen to What the Man Said Magneto and Titanium Man 1985 The Fool on the Hill The Long and Winding Road Martha My Dear Yesterday Rocky Raccoon We Can Work It Out Every Night Young Boy My Brave Face Here Comes the Sun (George Tribute) In My Life (John Tribute) Eleanor Rigby Back in the USSR Too Many People/She Came in Through the Bathroom Window Coming Up Silly Love Songs Maybe I'm Amazed Let it Be Hey Jude Encore 1 Can't Buy Me Love Birthday Live and Let Die Encore 2 Blackbird Band on the Run Golden Slumber/Carry That Weight/The End

If you break down Paul's fan in a similar fashion (Beatles/Wings/Solo Material) how do you think the demographics of the average crowd at one of Paul's concert's would break down? Unfortunately for those who want to hear more solo or recent stuff, I think they would be in the minority. I would guess that most crowds would be 60% Beatles, 35% Wings and 5% solo career with a lot of overlap between Beatles and Wings. The overwhelming majority of the fans at the concerts want to here those Beatles and Wings songs that have become classics more than anything else.

It is nit-picking, Ringo also does a lot of Beatles, at least the ones associated with him. If I can nit pick a little more, since these are advertised as Paul McCartney concerts, I think he should play Beatle songs he wrote, or wrote 90% of. I LOVE I Wanna Hold Your Hand, but it really was a 50-50 effort with John Lennon. I don't think he should play that in concert. And I think Paul could do something cool like dedicate a song to John and George (Here Today) and be done with it.

For me give me all that old stuff and more.

you keep saying the younger fans don't want to hear the Beatles. I think they totally do & that is why Paul does it because the money is coming from them too. Especially with Rock Band & I tunes. I am probably older than you & the 1st time I saw Paul was with Wings although yes...I loved the Beatles from the beginning. But my money bought a ticket to Wings! So yes, I would like to see an equal amount of songs from each period. He is so selling himself short. SERIOUSLY. He is still FAB...and more.

If you break down Paul's fan in a similar fashion (Beatles/Wings/Solo Material) how do you think the demographics of the average crowd at one of Paul's concert's would break down? Unfortunately for those who want to hear more solo or recent stuff, I think they would be in the minority. I would guess that most crowds would be 60% Beatles, 35% Wings and 5% solo career with a lot of overlap between Beatles and Wings. The overwhelming majority of the fans at the concerts want to here those Beatles and Wings songs that have become classics more than anything else.

And that is why the set list is what it is. I'm not complaining, it just brings up questions such as: are these BEATLES concerts or McCARTNEY concerts? It is nit-picking, Ringo also does a lot of Beatles, at least the ones associated with him. If I can nit pick a little more, since these are advertised as Paul McCartney concerts, I think he should play Beatle songs he wrote, or wrote 90% of. I LOVE I Wanna Hold Your Hand, but it really was a 50-50 effort with John Lennon. I don't think he should play that in concert. And I think Paul could do something cool like dedicate a song to John and George (Here Today) and be done with it.

We all have songs we would like to hear that he never plays for one reason or another. "In My Life", "I Feel Fine" and "Help" are three songs I'd love to hear but he's never played them at a concert I've attended.

IN MY LIFE is one of the songs that John and Paul disputed over who wrote it, though the fact that John sings lead and it is about himself, points to it being a John song that Paul wrote the high harmony to and that's about it. Maybe he hwlped write the melody. I GUESS I could see him singing this song as a nod to John. Why on EARTH would he play I FEEL FINE or HELP?? Those are 100% John songs, and Paul has so many great songs he has written that he has never performed.
