Hi everyone, went to the Cardiff concert and it was great!.....Paul and the band were superb...... there were so many superb songs, if I had to pick out the one's I thought were great....Hey Jude, Paperback Writer, Highway, I've got a Feeling, 1985, Something........I could go on and on..it was that good! I did this painting below of Paul....watercolour on paper...based on a marvelous photo by MJ Kim.......... hope you like it...and best wishes to Paul and the band for the US leg of the tour! Kevin.

Whilst I was at Cardiff, I thought there was no where else I would rather be at this moment......sat at a Paul McCartney concert waiting for the show to begin...... then the lights went down...... I did this sketch of what it was like.... Paul is shown on the large screen to the right.... and the stage is to the left...with I believe just visible silhouettes of Wix on keyboard? and a cameraman catching the show...... I cannot capture the excitement of the crowd around Cardiff Millenium Stadium however.... you had to be there.................. I think the song was Paperback Writer.....as there is a Rockband cartoon figure on the big screen behind the stage......! Kevin.

Forget team Edward and team Jacob. Team MACCA is where it's at.
A life? Cool! Where can I download one of those?

Kevin.... thank you so much for sharing your drawings once again!!! You are so talented!!! Hope you are planning to post more I have to agree with you about Cardiff.... the air was "e-lectrically" so charged.... it was like the buzzing and hissing of rain hitting the high tension wires.... I am so glad that I went, even tho, I didn't get much sleep on the bus back... Meeting that one girl at the bus stop who was so young.... and hearing how she started crying at about the 3rd song.... because she had always heard about the Beatles... but to actually hear Paul singing the songs... it was so emotional for her.... I totally understood....

Thanks love2travel....and really like the poems! Luckily you got a bus back...I stayed in Cardiff all night..... with a seagull for company! (that's another story) it was all worth it....really. I also find the shows are really emotional....and always memorable! Kevin..... Thought I'd give Paul's band a bit of recognition for the great backing they have given Paul..... Starting with Abe and 'Wix'.............................

Those are both so amazing Kevin.... Oh how I wish I could draw even half as well as you do.... can't wait to see the rest!!! You really caught Abe and Wix very well!!! Thanks so much about the poems.... some days they come so easily... all at once... I wish that was always the case... I just lucked out in finding out that there wasn't going to be a train back to London, from Cardiff. I had a round trip ticket, and I'd assumed they would put on extra trains after the concert.... like they do here at home...As a matter of fact, I asked at the train station... and the guy was saying that they had special signs they were putting up to help speed everyone to their train after the concert. I then mentioned I was staying to watch Paul.... OH... all of the sudden he tells me that they are not having a train back to London after Paul... And that if I needed to get back, I would have to take a bus I quickly went over to the bus station and the only bus to London was at 3:00 AM but I had to get back for the noon Abbey Road ticket that I bought... It was a very "cold" night in the bus stop waiting for the bus... and I am thinking of you with the seagull...very cold... right?! I finally get on the bus and have to get some sleep... just as I dozed off, someone woke me to sit in the seat next to me... I hope it was not someone on this board, and I really apologize if it was... but I had to get up and move, because I was desperate for sleep!!! ops: And I needed two seats.... sorry What an adventure getting back and then the Underground wasn't open... another long wait... Did you go to Hyde Park? It was so great wasn't it??? Wish I was able to get a little closer in the crowd... it was so wonderful!!! I am trying to remember if he played Tequila in Hyde Park or Cardiff... I'm thinking Hyde Park... but lack of sleep makes me not sure... Paul's band is so great... I really love the fun that they have on stage... makes me laugh

It wasn't too cold being Summer in Cardiff....and it was OK as I had my brother with me.................... so I had someone else apart from the Seagull to talk to! The seagull came up to us, and kind of looked sorry for us, then waddled off......should have been the other way round. I would do it all again, as the concert was superb, I'm glad you enjoyed it as well......sadly I didn't go to Hyde Park the next day. I've seen clips on youtube and again it looked a tremendous show. I don't recall Tequila at Cardiff... so may have been Hyde Park, or could have been Mexico.........! Not surprised you need some well earned sleep on the bus...and deserved 2 seats! I was on a hard bench in somewhere Cardiff, waiting for the next train South.....which was about 6 in the morning...although I was so tired, don't really remember! They do look to have fun on stage, and the interaction with everyone is great, Paul's comments in-between songs, his attempt to speak welsh.... which I'm sure is much better than I could have attempted.....I recall those really long Welsh place names on the train! Or I should say I don't recall them as they were so !!!! Wales and the scenery did look a lovely place, and of course the Millenium Stadium was great. Kevin.

I missed your pictures, Kevin, and it's nice to see them again. I like how gentle and accurate are your sketches (my are always clumsy ) and using some handwriting in the picture looks so good - I call it piture in the picture.

Thanks hey_kittay, depends on a few things really.....like - size of painting, how complex picture is..... how I'm feeling!......also if I add colour or not - the Paul one is watercolour so that took about a week to do - the pencil drawings I can complete in one day.... or can do 2 a day. It also depends on if I get something wrong about the drawing, then I might have to make alterations, until I'm satisfied with how it looks! So if I don't think it looks right, I'll keep working on it...... hope that answers OK... I like drawings that have a 'freshness' about them, and that are expressive. like music, I think painting is a very emotional medium... I also like Paul's painting, he is a very talented painter in my opinion, and to me his work does show much emotion like his music does. Propably he doesn't get much time now to paint, which is a shame....I always like to see his art work. best wishes, Kevin.

looking back....'through the mists of time' as Paul would have said..to 1993. Here is a painting I've done of Paul live in 1993 - Earl's Court London. Based on a photograph by J Gracen. Paul never seems to age, the painting I did at the top of the page from 2010 - it could have been Paul in the Beatles at Shea Stadium... reminded me of that for some reason! Kevin.

...a young Paul at the Top Ten Club in Hamburg, a painting I've done based on the famous photo by Jurgen Vollmer... circa 1961 Kevin.
