Lately, I've been producing a lot of tracks for my boyfriend, Rod. He is a gifted songwriter. For fun, we've just finished this cover of Yaz "Situation," the groundbreaking '80s single. http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_11532131 -Rod: Lead vocals -Audi: Guitars/keyboard/bass/percussion/backing vocals

kind of reminds of 'electric arguments' if it was made in the 1980s...some nice layers there ...i like it

OK -- you've redeemed yourself.

This sounds fantastic! You're one funky guy!
-
Well.. duh!

Page looks good, you're taking good care of the tracks there! Does Rod record guitar as well? Some good songs being writen over there and tight playing.

Rod writes with guitar, but his playing is kinda' so-so. and since I'm not the most patient guy in the world, I play everything to keep the sessions moving. He did play some guitar on "I Won't Be Sorry," "Right Here" and "Motherload," though. He played all the guitars on "Fairytales."

Thats cool, you're like an insta-band in the studio! so do you guys double track rhythm guitars ever? I haven't yet done that on any of my tracks with 11/12 Music. single rhythm guitar, and sometimes a lead over dub. but I think a second rhythm guitar could sound good.

That has been such a confusing thing -- I have seen "Yaz" and "Yazoo" over the years. I give up. If you say it's Yazoo....cool with me. To be safe: I think from now on, I'll refer to them as "that '80s pop duo consisting of Alison Moyet and that dude from Depeche Mode." Wordy but...

According to wiki: "Yazoo (also known as Yaz in the United States) are a British synthpop duo from Basildon, Essex. They had a number of Top 10 hits in the UK charts in the early 1980s. Formed in late 1981 by former Depeche Mode songwriter Vince Clarke (synthesizer) and Alison Moyet (vocals), Yazoo were signed to Mute Records in the United Kingdom and (as "Yaz") to Sire Records in the United States."

of course 'vince clarke' is better known as one half of multi million selling duo 'erasure'. and alison moyet who was a very large girl with a stunning voice has in recent years lost all the weight but unfortunately her voice is also now a pale shadow of her former self.

Well, that sux. Hate to see good singers lose their chops.

what you're doing...is a little too much caffeine... : : .......... slow the tempo down and up and dawn and up...until you find the best tempo...then smile away

So noted.

Another Rod track I produced. I arranged this one, as well, and definitely put a Beatle-y stamp on this track: SUR ROD - "WHAT'S IT TO YA'?" http://www.reverbnation.com/play_now/song_11457930 Rod: Lead Vocal Audi: Guitar/Bass/Drums/Backing Vocals

One more... SUR ROD - "WICKED HEART
I added bass/drums/lead and additional rhythm guitar tracks to Rod's vocal/rhythm guitar demo. I offered to do this for him shortly after we started dating -- my way of snatching him up! Perhaps my favorite guitar-solo of mine...I tried to channel my inner-Slowhand.
