4th & Goal Lonely Garden Double Vision I'm Quite Capable of Doing Much Worse The Way That I Do That's basically what we got done in about 5 hours last Sat. All I do is sing on the chorus'. the only tracks I'm not on at all are The Way That I Do, and I don't think I'm on Double Vision. eventually will be however when we do overdubs. but the rest you can hear my crazy ass singin! all 6 of those were written by my brother. nice rockers, huh? We were so amped up in studio cant wait to get back there.who is playing what on what Kapoo? the guitar work is great on them all, I've touched on 4th & Goal before, so i'll skip to the two songs which made my ears ping for me you guys left the best until last, "I'm Quite Capable of Doing Much Worse" was the highlight until I heard "The Way That I Do" its got a Dylan/Beatles feel to it, I could hear echoes of "Like a Rollin Stone" & "I've Got a Feeling" all rolled into one great song, you guys have just raised the bar on here, well done

Nice Macs! The Way That I Do was written back in the day! that ones honestly from like 1997, my bro was probably about 15 when he wrote it. but he's added and updated lyrics to it, making it better and really hammering it on that peformance, great tight meter. I told him the song was perfect and didn't think we needed more vocals, and also cause we were running out of time a bit. which is why I'm not on that one. come to think of it I think I have another version (prob from 1997!) up on YouTube where I'm on guitar singing with him. And then I had never heard Double Vision before but he and the drummer knew it so they did it. I like that jam. Eventually I'll be playing bass on all those tracks, and lead guitar on a few, can you tell I'm excited by next session I should be up next with those basslines So all six of those tracks are just my brother Rob on this sweet Gibson Tom Delonge freaking guitar!! really so tight its impressive playing. and he's got his own distortion peddle that he brought in and he's got the sound on that thing kicking. thats just one guitar, no double track I don't believe. and then our buddy Petey, turns out he's just a sick drummer listen to how good those drums are man. I know this studio used 6 mics on the drums! so its just those two playing all the tracks. and we decided to do vocals before instrumental overdubs as we thought it would help inform the playing to have the melodies in there. so my bro single and double tracked some vocally, and then I added a 3rd vocal track doing all choruses, and then a couple verse places in different songs, you'll hear it. Rob also did an acoustic version of Hopeless Romantic, which I'll post, and I did an acoustic Love Time which I'll post just for the hell of it. though how many versions of it do I need!? I was just showing it to the new friends

oh perhaps from about 45 seconds in!..
Hell of a set of lyrics on that one! I also like the term 'punters' in there. Thats one I would have never stumbled upon by myself -

Beautiful! This sounds great! Those light wailing backing vocals in there are a nice touch (is that you??), and obviously the guitar sounds brilliant. Good, melancholy lyrics. Great production! Well expunged!!!

100% up my alley. A keeper. Nice to hear your soulful side, bro.

Thanks Macs, audi and illwobs! I ended up making something out of that little 3 lined melody, I'm happy! it is that little two note bend riff thiing I came up with, plus the backing vocals, that fill it out enough to help it stand as a song. That is me doing that high and low note harmony vocals. 3 vocal tracks I did (actually 4 cause I copied and doubled up the lead vocal), and two guitars. and I turned up the clean lead guitar all the way loud in the mix its possibly a touch too loud.. but I was worried about it not popping! 4 chords in the whole song and really only 3 cause one I'm just moving up and down a couple frets. simple ! those are fun ones to record too cause its all about feel. the song itself requires no concentration. which is nice

Seriously? I'd meant to ask if that was your wife or another female doing the backing vocals. I'm at work, so I couldn't listen to it toooo loudly.

No I know isn't that crazy! I actually got to a pretty high note there, in a falsetto style. hitting the pitch consistently is key and I was able to do that decently. actually hit it better high then I did the low one, but you can barely hear the low one. I suck at mixing. plus I think Garage Band screws me, the mixed down MP3 I create out of Garage Band never sounds the same as the song did in the headphones before I pressed 'Mixed Down'. it makes it a crap shoot every time.. on this one the rhythm guitar should be louder, and the low backing needs to come up. probably both hgh and low should come up a touch. and the lead guitar should be a touch quieter. I swear I had it like taht in the headphones and then whalla, the mix down is different sweet. although not sure my backing vocals are actually harmony, I just picked a note and did the same note in different octaves, with a few variations throughout. I still need practice at the whole harmony vocal thing. my problem is its a bit of a catch 22 for me. I;m unpracticed at backing harmony vocals so they take me a long time to do, to figure out the notes. so I never want to get into doing them, cause I literally don't have that much time.. so then I never get practice so it'll never become something I can do more quickly cause I choose not to practice it!! CATCH! twenty two

I really like "Come And Go." Seriously! Do you guys remember The Samples? They had a song called "Seasons In The City" in the mid-'90s that nakes puts a lump in my throat every time I hear it. K's new track is in that vein.

Thanks man! I mean think about it: come and go.. how it ever ended I don't know... We're amazing songwriters kidding. I went and listened to that Samples song and I can see what you are saying, similar vibe caused by basically a reminiscing type lyrical theme, and they have a little bit of that back n forth feel to the chords too. not a bad call my man I think my track would require a more minimalistic drum part. I havent really cosidered what the drum part might be. I actually considered picking up those bongos I have and doing a quick track with them, but didn't want to get into it I'd get all into trying to learn bongos and waste the whole session.. however, if you are ever so inclined audi, feel free to lay down a drum track on it. if you were to be inclined, I know you'd lock into the groove like you do. the only thing to watch for is I clearly mess up the tempo and timing from about :42 - :50. that main guitar track was bascially a first take.. I should have redone it until the tempo on it was perfect all the way through.. oh well I'm sure you'd cover it up, like you did on SICE!! which had its moments of me slowing down to a crawl at one point I bet you could kill a bass line for it too. I really wanted to do a bassline myself but just was lazy.. eventually I'm going to go and add basslines to everything. get into bass and mess around on everything

Hope you hadn't all forgotten Pink Clothes already? Here's my acoustic version, with my friend Magnus on guitar:
Darth McCartney's demo: And there is a nice mix by audi too but not online at the moment. -
Great version illwobs! is that Take 6? Magus rips it there at the end, and I think its one of your best vocals to date. Nice to hear your Pink Clothes finally fleshed out to your own specifications

Thanks very much, KPU. Yes, take 6 it is! I think it's ok, but speeds up a bit towards the end which I find a bit annoying! Perfectionists... The general feel owes a lot to your version (and your advice), although the lyrics and melody are virtually all my own I think. I doubt I'd have ever got it this good on my own anyway.

I like how my whole first verse is just stealing bits and phrases from your verses too, and rapid firing the images Its fun to think of how I wrote that. the only verse thats mine alone is the last infact, I believe. of course I chopped and mangled everyone elses lyrics to fit my own melody. as I did with Macsbacks poem Painted Ladies. except in the chorus, I kept your bomb chorus melody as in Da bomb and I think I kept audi's original middle 8 melody in Pink Clothes. your PC version was long over due. It was your idea and you were the only one without a finished version! me and you have Where Do We Start? done. I know audi had something sweet cooking for that, of which I threw him a verse at one point. I'd like to hear that one fleshed out. and Darth has a Where Do We Start? in the works I seriously like the concept of picking a topic and each of us writing a song about it. either sharing ideas or completely original. thats cool and fun as shit
