I am working a a memoir of second generation Beatles fans. My research has lead me to a new generation Jones, sandwiched between boomer and genX. Does anyone have any memories of being a Beatles fan in the 70's, 80's and 90's?

I have quite a few Tiny Bubbles. I was born in 1971, the year after The Beatles split up so I have fond memories of hearing all the early solo singles when they were brand new. I actually became a fan of the band following the loss of John in 1980, as a result of all the following publicity. In early 1981, Imagine hit the number 1 spot here in the UK for about 4 weeks & I fell in love with the tune straight away, I couldn't get enough of it. Around the same time, I first heard the red & blue compilations & heard tunes like Something, Hey Jude & Lucy In the Sky With Diamonds for the first time. I was so impressed that tunes like these were recorded by the same band that had earlier recorded tunes like Love Me Do & She Loves You. I remember thinking "Are these songs by the same band?" Needless to say, I became a huge fan of The Beatles music overnight & am still a great fan to this day. A couple of years after in 1983, I bought a copy of Hunter Davies authorized biography of The Beatles & became as much of a fan of their story as I already was of the music. From then on, every trip to the local library resulted in me borrowing any book about the band I could get my hands on. Then came the era of video & I persuaded my parents to hire a copy of 'The Compleat Beatles' from the local video shop & saw movie footage of the band in concert & in interview for the first time. I soon lost count of how many times I subsequently hired that video out from the shop - loads of times let's put it that way. Fast forward to recent years & the age of the internet & I am spoilt for choice with all the information & websites about The Beatles that there is available. I can spend hours looking on YouTube for footage of the band & their solo careers. I guess, I will continue to be a fan of The Beatles for many years to come.

I also remember hearing the solo music when it was "new!" For me, as my mom was a fan, I became aware of the Beatles about the same time I became aware of water!!!!!! "My" first Beatles album was Hey Jude. It is in quotes because if was my aunt's album. My brother and it listened the Red and Blue albums constantly. I got a job so I could spend money on Beatles records (including solos) and memorabilia. What a motivator to get to work!!

Yes I do, I was born in 1967, I remember that others in the class enjoyed a Beatles song or two, but I think bands like Pink Floyd and Genesis were generally more popular, in the late 70's/early 80's. I can't remember anyone else but me being a fan. The 60s was very long ago at that time. I remember we played Bowie records, 'old Bowie', and it was like "Hunky Dory" from 1971, I don't think there were so many who listened to music that was made before 1970. It was like the stoneage. Retro came later. Perhaps more with the releases on CD in 1987... Also, I was a huge Paul McCartney fan in the 80s'/90's, but he was a bit out of fashion. "Tug of War" was popular, but it was a period he was considered 'cheesy'. I think he had a resurgence with "Flaming Pie".
