"Her Majesty"...2002
Good one!!!!

oobu24:
Use this as an alternate 1985. OMG! It is sooo good to see Paul playing that piano AND to see Abe & Wix in the same shot for the whole song. Abe smiling at Paul so much. Paul McCartney - Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five live Arena Phoenix 3-28-10
Done! And you're right!

When I listened to the Harlem Apollo show live, the sudden appearance of One After 909 surprised me greatly, especially as the 2010 setlist had remained fairly similar since March, with the exception of Ram On. When One After 909 was played the following Monday night in Liverpool, it didn't surprise me as much but the overall feeling in the room was just as good!
-
DCBeatle64:
Its really hard now to hide from the setlist, its everywhere especially now that social networks have become such an important part of modern day life, nothing is kept hidden for to long
I think it would be harder not to know now than it was in 2005, which was why I wanted to see Paul in Phoenix in 2010.

I was surprised by And I Lover Her and Wonderful Christmastime in 2009 and the full band version of Every Night (at one show only I think) in 2010. I wasn't really big into Paul in 2003 but I imagine Hello Goodbye and Getting Better were surprises? And She's Leaving Home? As someone who has only been following since 2005, Til There Was You, I'll Follow the Sun and Please Please Me both surprised me on the US Tour. I'll let you take from those what you want lol!
-
I'll Get You was certainly a surprise in 2005! He played Old Siam Sir on the 1979 UK tour when Back To The Egg was just out - one of several songs from that album.
-
Cosmically Conscous was great in NYC--very cool surprise! I loved that everyone who had already played at the David Lynch fundraiser also joined in. I hadn't heard the song before, to be honest, but have since fallen madly in love with it and found the full version online. Pretty heavy iPod rotation for me. )

I must admit: Nobody saw "Getting Better" coming. Same goes for those early Beatles tracks like "I'll Get You" (2005) and "In Spite Of All The Danger" (2004). Gotta' add those! In '89 and '90, Paul tagged "Put It There" with "Hello Goodbye," so while it is among his best ever openers (2002), it had, technically, already been performed before.

Off The Ground is a VERY special album for me, and it was extremely affirming to see this one finally done live.

Although it deosn't quite fit in this thread ... I must post when Paul surprised Ringo at Ringo's 70th Birthday concert last summer ... one of the most earth-shattering moments in the history of rock concerts. The place went nuts! Ringo Starr & Paul McCartney - Birthday (2010):

SusyLuvsPaul:
Was surprised and elated he did "It's So Easy" in Tulsa, but I can't find a good video of that performance that's audible and clear. I'd love to hear him sing that. Haven't been able to, so far
Maybe because he didnt do that song in Tulsa - he did it at the Dallas show a day or so later...try searching for Dallas 2009 videos...

Biggest song surprises for me at shows I've seen: "She's Leaving Home" in 2002. that one was very unexpected. "Cosmically Conscious" at the David Lynch show in 2009. Of all the songs for him to perform with Ringo, that is NOT one that I would have ever guessed. "1985" last year. That has been a holy grail song of mine for years so hearing it in Phoenix pretty much did me in.
