Any advice for buying a "boom stand/boom mic"?

I don't know the name of the thing of in English.
It's just what you need to have if you sing while playing the piano. That thing that holds the microphone. like this

you`d just have to go to a store that sells instruments and equipment, they usually have all sorts of microphone stands, and you can try them there... there must be some instrument/music-stores in barcelona

I just don't have a clue of the difference between them (as some record company A&R told to The Beatles: "I can't tell the difference between the bad ones and good ones":lol, I don't think I'm gonna notice by trying them there... someone with experience may know... I know a mega store where anyone can even play guitars and keyboards right there, you can form a band and perform there
