Kapoo's song, "So Where Do We Start" :

Illwobble's song, "So Where Do We Start":
=============== (for the genesis of this idea see http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=83272&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=39) Interesting thing about this one is that it appears to be in the key of F without having any F chords anywhere. Lyrics: CHORUS: So where do we start? I don't even have a clue And it's too hard talking to you When there's so much going wrong We're falling apart When I see the mess we're in I feel like giving up before I begin It's just gonna take too long verse 1 A while ago I stopped talking to you I stopped telling you all of the things that were bothering me And as time went by they grew and grew And then I started lying to you and only now can you see the mess that we're in; it's all looking grim verse2 Now we hardly go out anymore We used to go out all the time! Was that so long ago? Do you remember how things were before? You'd look into my eyes and know everything there was to know We've been letting things go. Time to start sorting them out, I know, but...

Cool song JS! I heard that before, is this a new take? Good lyrics, you explain the situation and feelings of being in a tough spot in terms of a relationship really well. You're a good lyricist. so don't take this too negative because I just feel like chiming in an idea, but this is the first song I can say I think I would change chords in Magnus's guitar part. maybe it has to do with what you said about it feeling in the key of F. I would need to try to play it to see for sure if thats what I think is missing, but the chord at the very beginning feels off to me.. feels even more off at the beginning of the second part of the verse. and the change up at like the 8 sec mark for example, feel like it should be something else. cool song though. I actually love the melody that uses the title, thats a cool musical phrase. at some point would you mind if I posted my So Where Do We Start? in this thread? this could be the In Frame 'SWDWS' thread. even though I alienated the whole band. so where do we start.. patching up the relationships of the In Frame band members.. catchy

Kapoo, that would be great if you posted your song here too, yeah! No it's the same take you've heard I think. I emailed you the file last week but only got around to uploading it and transcribing the lyrics last night. I have an earlier take with a different verse (which you're more than welcome to hear if you're remotely interested!!), since I decided to rewrite verse 2, but that's still the only other version I have. Interested in what you say about the chords. I'll think about it... I'll also email you the chord sheet I made for this one, see what you think. Thanks, man.

I did this last night. 2 vocal tracks, 4 guitar tracks on this actually. sounds pretty cool, however I definitely need to write another verse. I repeat the same verse 3 times lol. I don't mind repeating it twice, but 3's a bit much. if any of you ex-In Framers want to write one I'd be happy to consider it. otherwise I'll write it at some point. so what do you think? ..in out of love she's..

Kapoo, this is really really nice! Love the bits you've added since last version I heard, and the sound quality is much better. Really nice lyrics, and your kids interrupting at the end once again enhance and add spice to the whole affair! I might have a go at writing a verse to it some time. Maybe

I?m telling you, its about 50% chance these days when I record at home, my kids will make their way onto the track its like their homing signal when I start playing? I?m good with leaving them on the tracks though, not that I have a lot of choice need to sound proof the studio. Thanks for the comments!. Two things I want to do to my SWDWS?. 1st, I need to cut a lead vocal track, just a little louder and cleaner. and then fade the current vocals back in the mix. not sure if its too noticeable but I basically whispered the vocals to the last 3 tracks I?ve done (SWDWS, SicknBeaut, Dream State), because I?m messing around recording at night and my kidos are asleep.. its funny cause for how loud Dream State is, all that distortion was added after the fact in Garage Band. I was actually playing and singing that so softly! computers are awesome 🆒 I want to speed up the tempo on SWDWS too. Nice thing is I can just adjust tempo right in Garage Band, don?t even have to redo it! Although if I ever write another verse I?ll redo the whole thing. I went ahead and used my own 8th note rhythm idea in that tune also. Check that one off the list quick nugget; I wrote the main verse of SWDWS immediately when you all came up with the song title, and i wrote it about my own experience in arguements with my wife, and in relationships. then the abbreviated 2nd verse is inspired by my daughter Rae, who if you remember jammed on the very first vocal scat demo I did of the song, so wanted to immortalize her in it for all times!! check. and the new lines were written on the spot while recording it, inspired by In Frame. would you guys have ever caught that? we made a song but now your gone... forgiving me.. sort of all works together.

Oh I caught that alright! Quite clear!! Actually on the spot though? That's fresh! how did things get so messed up (I've) tried my best and I 'fessed up (but) all those words didn't get through (you) flat ignored what I told you (so) .... Nah, I've dried up at that point! Rough attempt!

Thats quite good JS! nice run at it, thanks for taking a run at it! I can nail the meter with that, and I like how you started with the same question/wording I like that line tried my best and I fessed up.. I recorded a track last night, redid my song Paralyze. another whisper/sung effort, but I'm starting to get the hang of this whole whispered singing thing! I'll post a link of it in the other thread album thread. but last night I also worked out another verse for SWDWS? which I'm pretty happy with. here it is, whatchu think? you'll notice (if you really look) I give several subtle wording nods to the first verse I did also. dropping hints I'm not catching (I'm) going in all directions (shes) talking down about nothing (I'm) recipricating so bluntly (we're) both the types to be bothered (shes) leaving burnt like smoked flowers (I'm) thinking about you when we're apart? where on earth do we start?

I always have to throw in an image or two for the pot head listeners otherwise you lose them I think both yours and my SWDWS's are both quality album tracks! nice work on yours too, very interesting melodies. I still haven't given proper thought to what I was saying to you before about chord adjustments. I was probably wrong before anyway, but I've got the chords, need to try a couple things. when I've been recording at night, I usually only have about an hour before I need to get to sleep, so I've been selfishly trying to do new demos of my own songs in GarageBand. I?m calling this batch ?the whisper demo?s?. Its crazy how I can perform them so softly but then blow up the sound in post production! (if that?s the proper term). I?m just having fun trying out the many sounds. I'm actually just playing my new acoustic guitar, live, not plugged into the computer, and then changing the sounds. Cool example, in SWDWS? I actually turned a guitar track into a drum track! The part that pops sound like a wood block going in the background. I think it was called the Vocoder Drum? And the solo guitar line in Oh I was actually played just about normal volume, maybe slightly softer than normal, but I added a ?Super Flange? effect and turned it metal! Love that stuff. The counter melody instrument line in Paralyze was the same bit, but that I made a trumpet. Doesn?t even sound like a trumpet at all, but sounds cool Cool to hear you're starting to mess with multi track recording. i'm really just getting into it too. me personally I listen to these tracks and I can hear myself being too focused on the technical aspects of the recording process. I'm not giving enough care to the creativity or feel in the performance. going forward I'm going to really work on getting the right performances on each track. its going to take me a LOT longer, but you're so much happier with the result.

I've got a rough demo I just need to craft if and get it laid down properly. Which I really wanna do over the next week. I'll be moving back from Coventry to Barnsley in a few weeks for summer, so expect a lot more piano tunes!

Can't wait to hear em Darth and audi! nice pic in the sig btw Darth, thats awesome and audi cool lyrics. that bliss.. turned into this bit is awesome! and btw Jon, meant to tell you what I said before about changing any of the chords.. I think I might have just been full of it been listening to yoru version and its great! its actually way better than I remember, don't know what I was thinking about. you're quite a good songwriter man. I like how you made the verse the chorus on it too. Of course, the verse the chorus, of course! Thats the sign of a really pure song IMO. an unorthodox natural flow of music that works!, if you will. ah, and man I love what you did in the parts like this, awesome meter on them, very cool rock flow: A while ago I stopped talking to you I stopped telling you all of the things that were bothering me And as time went by they grew and grew And then I started lying to you and only now can you see the mess that we're in; it's all looking grim btw audi sorry to hear about the relationship, hope all is well! make some music to tell em all to go to hell!, sod off, leave your parents as Paul would say not to do you remember that interview? btw Darth you need to hook up some good rock piano for us when you get back to Barnsley! I'm thinking you get a little C Moon with it 🆒 check it um, check it um, check it ouut..

He walked in right at the end, had been asleep, and walked in asking for 'Ponce', it sounds like. but thats his own personal way of pronouncing 'Thomas' from thomas the tank engine! awesome. he's going 'Ponce... pees (Please!).. ponce.. god I love that kid.
