I was at last nights show and it was awesome. I have been lucky enough to see macca a few times including Liverpool five years ago and at Glastonbury. As a Macca fan of course I would love to hear some new songs but that will be for the next tour. Interesting last night, when he played "In liverpool" I was really excited to hear this and a nice surprise but was distracted by everyone else around me who used this point, as well as C moon, to chat and show very little interst in the song. It was nice to see Dance Tonight really hold its own in the show and I have to admit after seeing Paul perform flaming pie a couple of times it still sounds fantastic. I think Something was included because Olivia was in the audience and the fact that Yoko was there why A day in the life ended with give peace a chance. 21st Century Paul:
Well, there's two ways of doing a setlist for a music living legend. 1. Kind of doing the same old things, kind of greatest hits live. Usual of Queen, and The Rolling Stones.... 2. Stick with some irrepleceable songs and changing the rest, even from concert to concert.... U2 stick with With or Without you, where the streets have no name but sometimes they don't even play one, but they play the same stuff every concert of every tour. Springsteen sticks with Born To Run and Badlands and Born in the USA, and rest is unpredictable every concert. And then there's Bob Dylan.
Paul no way it's gonna do what Bob Dylan does with the songs... the plan of saving his "Holy Trinity" (Hey Jude, Let It Be and Yesterday) and changing the rest it's nice. Maybe doing the same setlist all the tour (a la U2) or maybe changing every concert (a la Springsteen). This is an isolated concert, so the list was gonna be predictable, no way the band are gonna learn a lot of songs for only one concert.... they play what they know they already can play well. Actually, they seem to have problem with the Hippy hippy shake... so Paul is not gonna play with the band something they've never played in a concert like that. Maybe one or two songs.This band recorded with Paul on MAF and did the new songs at promotional shows. I am sure the crowd last night would have loved "Only Mama Knows" a bunch more than "C Moon". Sad to say but I don't think I would go to see Paul again because it would be the same old thing. I happen to love his new music and hate that he does not play it as much as he should.

I loved the 2002 and 2005 tours because each setlist was varied. I'm seeing a combination of the 02/05 songs. Though I loved the MAF promo tour with quite a few new numbers. I'm not worried yet until a full fledge tour happens. But I agree deep down inside with the original review. Perhaps, i'm too greedy but to see this man continue to tour on and off for the last six years is still very special.

Paul McCartney is not just a rock star doing a show he's a legend who is a part of history. I'd never had the opportunity to see him and always wanted to. I didn't want him playing obsure songs but ones I knew the words of . As for songs like CMoon, well of course I know those too -I'm a fan and they remind me of being younger. Good grief ! just enjoy the experience and being able to sing along with Macca while he's still here. I loved it and I'd see this show with the same songs in the same order over and over again. If you don't want to then don't but stop moaning-Lets here it for the FAB One. Denise

The whole production of this concert was brilliant. To say that Paul sang shakey. Get a life and enjoy the music. Thankfully you were not sitting around me last night, moaning and criticising.

Personally i was happy with what he played at Anfield as i have never seen or heard him live. I would have liked to hear Beautiful night and some more songs from his solo albums (eg Flowers in the Dirt) Got to admit though i would have rather been there as listening to it online isn't quite the same. If you don't like what he plays live, don't go. As for Paul being an official oldie, no I don't think so as he sounds great. His voice is amazing!

First off let me say this, the setlist was very appropriate for a celebration of Liverpool. I can understand McCartney dragging out the same old Beatle songs, but that's as far as it goes! My following comments are in regards to his regular tours and his upcoming tour. It's way way way past time that McCartney changed his setlist! I have been sharing this point of view for years. It's always going to be someones first time seeing McCartney, does that mean that the man has to perform the same basic set of songs for the rest of his life? He's given all the Beatle heads the last twenty plus years, it's not his fault if someone wasn't able to see the shows! Paul McCartney is much more than just a freaking Beatle, he has one of the most amazing careers of any artist! There's just no excuse to play the exact same songs year after year after year. This man has hits from every decade since the 60s and he should be performing them! A whole generation of people came up listening to Wings, in fact they were the biggest group of the 70s, and that's documented fact! How many artist have #1 hits that they've never ever performed live? I find it absolutely amazing that anyone wouldn't want this man to perform as much of his fantastic music as humanly possible?? Yes it's time for Paul McCartney to seriously change his setlist, I'd hate for him to look back on his career and think Woulda, shoulda, coulda. The Beatles have been done, redone, and overdone! Let's all e-mail his guitarist Brian Ray and let him know how we feel. I mention him because I e-mailed him and he answered me back, so he does listen to the fans, and he does share info with McCartney. This upcoming tour will determine a lot as far as McCartney being just an old nastalgia act. If he drags out the same old songs yet again, it will be a shame because Paul McCartney can and should do better!! Fans should expect more. Mr. McCartney stop selling yourself and your music short!

I think that's a really good point, 21st Century Paul.
Personally, I 've never seen Paul live before, so for me I wouldn't mind hearing all the classics if I went to one of his shows. Sure, he has so many great songs that he can be a little more diverse in his setlist, but really we are very lucky to have him still performing for us after all these years. And if you don't like 'the same old songs' then don't attend. If the set-list is really annoying to you, then don't waste your time or money seeing him live. It's interesting, I have been reading a lot of reviews of the show last night and so many of the critics mention how the crowd came alive once Paul started to sing his well-known hits/classics. So, I think many people really enjoyed themselves last night. That's why Paul does them. Because the majority of people at his shows want to hear those songs (maybe not the people who have seen him many times) but most of his fans, like me, would be happy just to be there and sing along with him. -

Apple scruffs, I hope you get a chance to see him. and that's exactly right, it's not fun for the average person to go to a show and not know the songs. It's not fun for the artist, if the crowd is not responding. If fans are tired of these songs, make room for new fans. Me, I love the songs, the atsmosphere, the man. I will keep on going.

LOVE PAUL....BUT, NOW I"M GOING TO SOUND LIKE A BROKEN RECORD SO I WON'T SAY IT YET AGAIN. What Dear Boy said Paul's mentioned that he wouldn't want to go to a Rolling Stones show without hearing "Satisfaction" or a Prince concert without "Purple Rain," which I understand. But I honestly think "Hey Jude," "Yesterday," and "Let It Be" are the only songs that he "has" to include in his setlists. No one will feel cheated if they don't get to hear "Drive My Car" or even "Long and Winding Road." So really, Paul should just include those three songs to please those who've never been to a Paul concert, and then feel free to experiment with his other 30 choices

I thought his set list was absolutely appropriate for this local-boy-does-good homecoming sort of show. He and the band continue to blow me away -- vocally, musically and energetically. Period. -a
