Much to my surprise, yesterday, I received an early arrival of Mary's cookbook.
Wow, this book is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!
I never thought I would be using the word "beautiful" to describe a cookbook, but there is a first for everything! This cookbook is a heartfelt work of art, overflowing with LOVE!
I was so surprised when I began to look through this book last night, needless to write, the photographs are gorgeous! There is no question that Mary put her heart into this book as the pictures that she has chosen to include are truly worth a thousand words.
LOVE the note that Linda left for Mary on the refrigerator, so sweet!
The Jack-O-Lantern is wonderful, and I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the stunningly beautiful picture of the snow on pages 224 - 225. I LOVE this image so much that I have now purchased another copy of this book so that I may remove this photograph for framing.
At first glance, the recipes appear to be simple and straightforward - nothing complicated, which is great for a triplet-mom or anyone with a demanding schedule. In addition, the recipes are kid-friendly, and as anyone with a veggie-kid knows, kids do not want to eat things they cannot identify, which is clearly not the case with this book. Looking through the book last night, my children have already put in their requests for the pan-fried cheese, tomato and onion sandwich (page 42), must-have creamy tomato soup (page 76), winter warmer hotpot (page 133), and the orange and lemon cupcakes (page 184). If you have procrastinated with this one, delay no longer - it's a winner!
I suspect this cookbook will swiftly become a favorite in our home! Very well done, Mary! Thank you for keeping it simple and providing more veggie options - brilliant!
Enjoy, everyone!!!
Oh, almost forgot, remove the book's dust jacket to reveal a sweet surprise on the back cover.

I don't know if it is new. I thought it was a new MFM cookbook. ON the website there is a little video on the cook book.
-
Thanks so much for the reply. The video is promoting the currently existing MFM cookbook, which is indeed very good.

One of my favorite writers, bloggers, Shauna James Ahern, reviews and praises Mary's new cookbook. She modifies one of her vegetarian recipes so we gluten freers can eat it. Here's the link (scroll down past the avocado): http://glutenfreegirl.com

That video of her isn't her. If you compare photos you can tell and it isn't her voice either. Sad to have to use a fill in for yourself.

Hi butterpie, which video are you referencing and by employing the term "her," to whom are you referring? Thank you in advance for any information that you may be willing to offer. Anita

Would be easier for me to be a vegetarian instead of a vegan. Then I wouldn't have to give up eggs and cheese. So I'd love a look at Mary's cookbook, too
-
Going to order a copy of Mary's cookbook too! A friend of mine has a copy and absolutely raves about the recipes.

I really like the idea of gluten free recipes. Have a family friend who has an intolerance to gluten. Even I'm having problems now with eating foods with gluten in them. Glad to see those recipes!

Hello, Does anyone own a copy of Mary McCartney's book 'Food'? I know it's been out for a couple years. Are the recipes within it good? And, are they simple to make?
-
^ Hi! I own a copy of Mary's cookbook, the recipes are delicious and they are very simple to make! You will LOVE it!!!
-
Is there a favorite recipe that you recommend?
-
^ Most definitely! These are our favorites... 'pan-fried cheese, tomato and onion sandwich' - page 42 'lip-smacking minestrone' - page 73 'must-have creamy tomato soup' - page 76 'corn fritters' - page 82 'winter warmer hotpot' - page 133 'mac & cheese with crispy topping' - page 137 All of the above recipes are simple and delicious! The element that I absolutely LOVE about this cookbook more so than any other veggie cookbook is that it makes it so EASY to go veggie! The recipes are quick to prepare, the ingredients are inexpensive, and my children LOVE the food! Most kids will not eat what they cannot identify, not at all the situation with the recipes in this cookbook. If you decide to purchase this cookbook, not only will you be delighted with the images of food that really are quite beautiful, you will be surprised with some very touching family photos that will leave you warm and fuzzy which certainly adds to the 'comfort' of the prepared meal.
