Paul, Come To Australia
-
Yes...it was the Blacktown Pipe Band performing that evening. While Paul and the band did rehearse with them earlier in the Australian tour (Sydney - 3/16, 17, and 20) their only performance of "Mull..." was in Parramatta on 3/23. He did perform it in Auckland, New Zealand on3/27/93 with the Continental Airlines Pipe Band.

I was at the sound check to where he rehearsed it , very cool indeed, as its so rare that he performs it.

Had a dream last night that Paul announced August. Spewing when I realised it was only a dream haha!

It would be the best for me. The factory where I work closes in August (summer holidays for me). So I hope your dream will come true

Thanks French!!! I woke up all excited about applying for my credit card especially for the tour too!!!

Just bumping this back up to keep the interest going, I wonder if Paul ever checks these forums?.....Probably not haha. I went to see "Looking Through a Glass Onion" a couple of weekends ago, a half performace/rock show where Aussie actor John Waters channels John Lennon as he looks back over his life, his music and the people he loved. It was brilliant and I encourage any other Aussies here to see it if it plays near you. The music was incredible, and if you squinted your eyes a little, you could almost convince yourself that it was Lennon himself who was standing on the stage. The reason I bring it up - other than that fact it was awesome - is because there was such a difference in the age groups of the people who attended. I'm 24 myself and there were a bunch of people roughly my age, all the way up to some elderly folk in their 70s. It gave me hope that if Paul did decide to tour here once more, his audience would be big enough.

Great to hear that!!!! I've been wanting to go for years but every time it comes round I'm unable to do it!!
-
I haven't been here for awhile (perhaps cause I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle), anyway I have renewed energy and all I want to say is PAUL PLEASE COME TO AUSTRALIA!
-
haha I'm with you cassandra. He hadn't been in Peru since 1993 right? Sounds pretty familiar to our little (or not so little) country. I really really hope 2011 is the year it happens. I've considered travelling somewhere to see him, but it's so damn expensive.
-
Hi Guys Just had a brilliant idea. Paul and Nancy are apparently getting married at the end of the year. Just a perfect time for a honeymoon in the most BEAUTIFUL COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!!! He could throw in a tour while he is here!! PAUL IN OZ Cheers Chrissie

This from the Herald Sun newspaper: Former Beatle McCartney, 68, has been in talks with two Australian promoters. One pitched a national run in November. The other proposed a New Year's Eve show in Sydney, followed by a tour of the major centres. But McCartney cooled on the tour plan because he wants to spend the holiday season with his new love, Nancy Shevell, and family. ''We couldn't get him motivated to tour in that period,''one promoter said. ''He doesn't want to work then even though the offer was amazing.'' Promoters say talks are ongoing. ''It's a 50-50 chance,'' a promoter said. "'Paul McCartney tours happen at the last moment. This will be no different."

Looks like you weren't the only one thinking that Chrissie I can understand he wants to hang with his new lady after being married, but dayum, if the offer was that good, he can't put a week or two aside and make up for 2002? Bit of a worry. Having said all of that, I'm there if by some miracle this ever happens.

Mmm, if the offer was unbelievable, then how expensive will the tickets be if by chance this comes off? We'll have massive outdoor venues, pricey tickets, but hey, I just want him here again. I don't care where he plays, how much the cost or what he sings... I want Paul back here again and I'm praying that it happens...

Nicely said Moptops it will be such a joy if he returns. I just dont see why if he comes here on holiday with his family he'd want to do concerts.
-
Still can't see it happening especially since he is getting married playing in Australia will be the least of his wants . I have heard similar stories every year for the past 10 years all far out speculation .
-
I know it's probably not going to happen, but it's nice to hear that "talks" are still happening. I would be so, so, so happy if he did tour here this year though.
-
Agreed Moptops - I'll really go for broke if he does happen to make it back!!!!
