Paul, Come To Australia
-
WELCOME BACK Chrissie!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah same, still have the doomed ticket.
-
Actually I just checked the first post in the thread. August next year will be the 10th anniversary of the thread. Hopefully we'll get some shows before we reach that milestone. I wonder where Belinda (who started the thread) is these days and I hope she's well as I recall some health issues?
-
Hi Chris Thanks for the welcome back. Belinda was quite sick and I do hope she is still ok although she hasn't posted on here for years. Do you really think Paul will tour here? I am usually the most optimistic person but I am starting to doubt it. He is turning 70 this year so I just don't know. It would be fantastic if he did though. Cheers Chrissie

Every couple of months I come back here to check this thread in hope, and get excited when I see it on the front page Also, he was interviewed about Australia (kinda) earlier in the year for those who didn't see it

Yeah would be good to know if she is ok!!! Who knows if he'll come. It's still a chuckle to think that the official word in 2002 was that the gig was "postponed".

I could think of a few other words instead of "chuckle"...

Hahaha yep!!! Geez I was MEGA MEGA pissed at the time, but I definitely can't hold anger for that long - definitely ain't good for ya. It's gotta be this year though. Enough is enough Mr Mc'!!!
-
I wouldn't put the house on it - but I'd bet the outhouse...

http://www.petitiononlineaustralia.com/petition/bring-paul-mccartney-to-australia/417 Peitition for Paul to come to Aus!!! He hasn't been here in 19 years people! Our economy at present is one of the strongest out, its not like people can't afford to go, there is no reason for him not to come! Get him over here and share the love
-
He actually owes some shows over your country. Like is been said, there aren't any financial problems, and it's not like it's the frea-king Middle East, which BTW, he visited in 2008 with his concert in Tel-Aviv in Israel; in Australia there are no conflicts; in fact, I think it's safer than America or Europe. Australia also has the benefit that he would most certainly play Mull of Kintyre. So yeah, it's ridiculous he hasn't gone there since the New Word Tour, and more ridiculous since this thread has almost ten years of existence. You got my support from Mexico.

HaRd_DaYs_NiGhT:
Paul, I think you owe Australia a visit! We miss you and we support you. As soon as you can could you please come to australia and give your loyal aussie fans some concerts! I think we deserve it! So asap please come down under! Pretty Pleeeeeeeease! Luv Belinda
I got curious and decided to look at the very first post of this thread...from August 15, 2003.

Surprise, surprise!! Yet another tour of the States. Why hasn't he rescheduled his cancelled Denmark shows? Looks like they'll be waiting for as long as we are. Stuff him!!

I think Paul has lost a lot Aussie of fans because of the cancellation 10 years go, plus all the shows everywhere else but Australia, it really does suck.
-
The Aussies have had a raw deal on this, maybe its not actually Paul who makes the decision on where to go
-
From the horse's mouth, the reasoning is "we can't fit it into Paul's diary - we want to tour like we did in 93." What a crock. He could have done Australia/NZ easily in November, like he has done in the past. Even some Americans are feeling sorry for us. That;s how ridiculous his frequent touring of the Americas has become. Note: I am not begrudging any American fans who want to see him, I am stating a case for Australia.
-
As much as I feel your pain you also can't just say oh look another NA tour, the two canadian stops are first time shows!! So yes it has been a while for you guys Down under, it has been never for us in Vancouver and Edmonton. The Live Nation promoter said in Vancouver that they had been working on this for 3 years, some shows seem to come easier than others and who knows what has been going on behind the scenes.
-
It really isn't good enough is it? It's been waaaay too long and needs to be put right pronto! If I were living in Oz I'd be ever so slightly miffed!
-
I'm curious: Is Paul on record, acknowledging Australia in any way, since the '02 cancellation?

Thanks! Australia definitely seems to still be on his radar. I'm sure our Aussie friends will get their long-overdue shows in the not-too-distant future.
