Plains of Abraham, Quebec, Canada - July 23rd - ARCHIVE

The show was great! We were behind the first row of people on the barrier and had a blast. We were waiting in line behind the stage, so we heard the soundcheck, but not well. We were trying to decipher each song. During the show, he played 3 songs not usually on the setlist (Michelle, Birthday and Ram On(!)). He spoke a lot of French! During Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End it started to rain, even though it hadn't all day. After he finished it started to pour! We went to get our tour guides but because it was raining, we ended up with some very wet ones... Oh, well!

Another great review, this one from Le Journal de Quebec (one of Quebec's largest newspapers). I used Google translate to change the French to English: http://www.journaldequebec.com/2013/07/23/soiree-magique-sur-les-plaines SIR PAUL ATTRACTS MORE Magical Evening on the Plains Former member of the Beatles offers a flawless performance in Quebec
Paul McCartney has succeeded again. Former member of the Beatles has bewitched the Plains of Abraham again yesterday with a performance that approached perfection. Five years after its historic passage in the Old Capital in 2008, Macca has delivered a flawless performance of almost three hours with more than 40 songs in the program.
I liked this bit, too, from the article:
He still looks like a kid.
It's all that happy bouncing he does on stage. Paul is like Tigger. And this:
The former Beatles member addressed the public in the language of Molière repeatedly. A very good effort on his part. He was not obliged to do so. He did. Class.
The paper estimated the crowd at 45,000. And it ended the article with this:
The artist is generous. He played 24 songs that were not on the agenda during his visit in 2008. His voice showed few weaknesses here and there, but the guy is rock-solid. He draws in three hours delivery, the soundtrack of a generation and those that follow. A huge party. Majestic.

He brought a young girl up on stage AND added Birthday to the set just for her...that's pretty damn special!
-
Another fun moment: This young guy on Twitter who was at the show said that when Paul was up there holding the ukulele, the guy shouted out "Ram On." Paul looked at him, and said "Fine then." And played it.
-
Sounds like another great show!

That is so cool! How awesome of Paul to give someone a lifetime moment they will never forget. A hug, an interview, and a song! (plus an autograph, too, i thinkl). too cool.

What a wonderful concert! The crowd was definately NOT "underwhelmed" Extra 3 songs for Québec: Ram On, Michelle & Birthday An emotional show: Paul got choked up twice, once at the beginning of Here Today (he actually stopped and started again) and at the end of Let It Be (which he had dedicated to the hundreds of special guests from Lac-Mégantic) he patted his heart several times, made heart symbols with his hands and wiped away tears on both cheeks... Here's a screen grab of a video I shot when Paul left his hotel to go to the soundcheck & concert. He stood outside for a few moments waving to the screaming crowd before getting in his car and leaving in a motorcade complete with police motorcycle escorts! I like to think he was waving at me Cheers!

Beautiful photos from everyone, thank you all for sharing!!! And Montreal Pete, it does look like Paul is waving at you.

Sounds like a fantastic show, and so nice to get the three bonus songs! I haven't searched yet, but is there any video of those songs or Here Today or Let it Be? Sounds like sweet moments. I know Paul's banter is very scripted and planned out but it's very touching that he still feels something when playing Here Today for the umpteenth time. And great pic!
