Health Issues bring on vegetaranism
-
Like most people I continued to eat as an adult what I was raised on, loved a good juicy burger and a tender steak. However in 1998 I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, I took many different medications that caused other issues one being dry mouth, witch caused me sever dental problems. I was unable to eat meat, so my diet consisted mainly of veggies and soft foods, after getting my teeth fixed first thing I did was go out for steak dinner. IT SUCKED!!!!!! Not only could i not stand the taste of the meat I hated the texture of it as well. That did it for me no more meat, I've lost weight, my skin is clearer, i sleep better, what more could I ask for? I wish I had done this yrs ago on my own! Only problem is I can't give up the dairy!!!!

hi sorry that it took health problems for you to go vegetarian, but at least now that you are accustomed to it, you may be able to see the moral reasons as well regarding the animals as for dairy, there are many health reasons as well to give up all dairy needless to say, there are many moral reasons as well to give up the dairy, especially the fact that the cows and calves are abused, raped, and murdered just as well as in the mainstream slaughter for flesh industry. in fact, the dairy industry IS the beef industry.. see these links healthwise - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dr-mark-hyman/dairy-free-dairy-6-reason_b_558876.html http://saveourbones.com/osteoporosis-milk-myth/ http://www.newlr.com/blog/?p=177 and these links for the best reason to go fully vegan for moral reasons - http://veganmaven.com/blog/rape-abuse-and-murder-at-a-dairy-farm-near-you http://www.c-a-l-f.com/news/dirty-dairy-secrets/ http://www.becausewemust.org/animal/dairy-and-eggs/

And like i mentioned i wish that i had done it years ago not only for the health part, but I was aware of the cruelty, an although I ate meat I felt awful about it , but at least now I can be true to a cause and mean it and i will get rid of the dairy its just been harder

My conversion to vegetarian also happened due to a serious health problem. Feel much better.

In my experience, now that I have not eaten meat in a long time, if I do eat a tiny piece accidentally, which happened awhile back, it makes me physically ill. There were these beans and there was a piece of pork in it. I ate it, not seeing it. Really my body reacted horribly to it. And all I could think about was a pig being slaughtered the whole time! It is really interesting how much better one does feel after not eating meat, in my case. Good luck to all those out there who are trying to eliminate meat form their diets. If you hang in there it becomes second nature.

I was raised vegetarian but due to severe milk allergies I decided to go vegan two years ago. I have had troubles with getting enough vitamins (because I refuse to take them ) but overall I feel a LOT healthier. Also, there's a lot of good vegan options in my ciry which helps with my sweet tooth.
