My Q to you. Which fellow with a deep, deep voice sang at both Elvis' and Gladys' funerals?
Gotta be the one n' only J.D. Sumner! I had the somewhat awkward pleasure of meeting him in 1988. When that controversial book Is Elvis Alive? came out (the one with the supposed audio of Elvis after 8/16/77), I went to Gail Brewer-Giorgio's book-signing. J.D. showed up -- and the media cameras were there -- to protest the book. So, after I got my book, got the author's autograph, I ran to J.D. to meet this important person in the Elvis musical legacy. He's there, talking about what a piece of garbage the book is, while I'm talking to him, praising him and Elvis, while he's noticing that I have the book in my hand. Oh, well. I was just a pimply teenager then. In J.D.'s memory, shall we? "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

Well, here's another attempt to ask a trivia question off the top of my head... ...I'll keep it simple, just to be safe : Name Elvis' 1972 hit that was also a big hit for Willie Nelson in the early '80s.
Psh, did ya read my post in the 'song on the theme of' thread?
Missed that one...

Oh, I must've gotten it wrong. J.D. was in The Stamps and The Blackwood Brothers, if memory serves.

The answer is either: -Hugh Jarrett (the deep voice on Elvis' "(Now And Then There's) A Fool Such As I") ...or -J.D. Sumner (the deep voice on Elvis' "Way Down").

WAY ON DOWN. Should have gotten his autograph too Auds! Although maybe not after seeing the book in your hand. Edit: Oops, typical I get everything messed up.

"PHEW!" I was starting to doubt myself.

Even in my youthful naivety, I could sense that would not have been the smart thing to do. "Mr. Sumner, you can sign this piece of paper on top of my copy of this book you're trying to tell us not to buy."

Nice one Audi. Scotty Moore had particular influence on which guitarist? (might be a bit vague, but he's a massive fan , in fact I think he likes Scotty more than Elvis)

He's in good company: CCR tried to duplicate the "Sun sound" on many of their hits.

I think you all know the story about when Elvis met Clapton

I know the story very well. It was at one of Elvis' movie nights. Elvis liked Eric a lot but didn't have a clue that he was conversing with one of the most influential and successful blues-rock guitarists (if not THE most) in rock music. He even suggested that E.C. take guitar lessons from James Burton. Granted, Burton probably could've taught Clapton a cool lick or two -- because James Burton was awesome -- but Clapton certainly didn't need any help.
