Ain't no Chet Atkins.

Why is Elvis sitting at the piano when Jerry Lee Lewis is right there?

I think Elvis is showing something to Jerry at the piano, like "like this" and Jerry thinks that's strange. I like Elvis a lot on guitar, he was terrific in that show with the electric. Chet who?

Elvis was actually better at piano than guitar. Here's audio of Elvis on piano: Elvis Presley - At the piano - Lawdy Miss Clawdy, Feb 1970:

That's not bad Audi, I do find it strange that the 'King of Rock & Roll' could hardly tear it up on guitar/piano.

Yeah, Elvis was a singer, first and foremost. He was definitely an artist -- a natural "self-producer." But he wasn't an accomplished player of the instruments that he played. He was, however, a very good rhythm guitarist -- and he definitely had a few tricks up his sleeve, but he was no Chet Atkins (who, incidentally, produced Elvis' first RCA Records session in 1956).

Little Richard is one who could really 'tear it up'. Think I read that Johnny Cash was impressed with his rhythm (Get Rhythm, when you get the blues, dum dum dum)

Don't you mean... ...rip it up? Actually, "The Killer" could outplay "The Beauty On Duty," but Elvis paled to both of them.

Bloody hell Audi, Rip it up, of course. ops: JLL is a great pianist indeed but LR's voice and piano combination does it for me.

I always have an image of Cash that is very serious indeed, a no messin' kinda guy and to see him joking around like that was strange.

Audi, Since you never answered, I'll tell you--the appliances were Harvest Gold or kind of a burnt orange weren't they? (the other favorite in the late '60's & early '70's was Avocado which is what we had at home!)

My grandparents used to have a green bathroom! My bathroom at home is still yellow.
