Hi Daniel! Have you ever been to Memphis? I was and I saw Graceland from a distance, lol...I'm not a HUGE fan, so I didn't pay to go inside and see it. It WAS interesting though, especially to go downtown and see where Sun Records had been and all! Hound Dog

Hi Merry, I haven't been to Graceland. I will go one day though

Let's talk about some of Elvis's songs....I'll post a song everyday & you can say how much you like the song, what memories you have, or anything else. Today's Elvis song of the day is. That`s All Right (Mama) Released: July 6, 1954 Elvis Presley (vcl, gtr), Scotty Moore (gtr), Bill Black (bs) Recorded: Memphis Recording Service Memphis, July 5, 1954

Good song, Daniel, the very first, though I have no memories of it when it first came out! Truthfully, I didn't pay much attention to Elvis until after he'd died, and then I started reading everything I could about him and spending time listening to his music. For me, being a Monkees/Beatle fan, the two tastes didn't gibe, so I thought Elvis was "Square", sorry! ops: Anyhow, I've heard this song was sung for Elvis's mother and I know they were VERY close. It's surprisingly sexy given the era, I think, ahead of its time. Merry

I've been to Graceland! I was driving back from Texas and stopped. I even wrote my name on the wall. Hey that's cool, Jonathan! I really didn't go out of my way to see it, but I regret it now, it would've been nice! IF I ever go back, I'll look for your signature there! Merry

Well my best friend is, so I guess that makes me a fan... kinda like it makes him a Beatle fan. If that makes sense.
Yours friends sorta of get you into something don't they? you know what I mean don't ya?
-
Jonathan:
Yeah, you are exposed to it since you hang around together.
yeah Sounds like a Beatles song in an Elvis post, yeah yeah yeah
-
Jonathan:
Ye... yep. I rate him 3rd on my all time "Rock & Roll" voices. And only behind Lennon and Joplin.
He's equal first on my list With John & Paul
-
Ditto Jon....Elvis has the best overall voice to me too. If it's a rocker or ballad.

Great song, Daniel! I still remember the dance scene in the film with this song in it, VERY cool! Holds up, even now! Sorry about my comments yesterday, I don't think Elvis is "square" now, I appreciate his music very much! The Beatles loved him (well John did too but said he "sold out" after he went into the army, lol) so he is VERY influential, and his impact can not be denied! Merry

I forgot to add this Today in Elvis Presley History 1961 - Elvis Presley's single "Surrender" was the No. 1 Billboard Pop Hit.
