Is he working on an indie deal? Today, "indie" is the new "major."
Not sure Audi. I'm sure the smaller labels have made their offers (Come on, it's MORRISSEY) but I think he wants a bigger deal, I read in an interview published last week, he said Sony offered him a deal but he has to finance everything personally but split the profits.
They want him to pay for it all..AND share the loot???? Do they think he's stupid???

What profits? A #1 in Uk sells only 10000 copies today. No wonder anyone has to finance himself. No record can sell enough for paying promotion... I guess they'll split the INCOME not the PROFITS.

well his "profits" are suppposed to be that having an album in the top10 or so will result in more people going to his concerts... no profits selling records, they can be an ad for your concerts, if ever

Led Zeppelin used to warm up with Elvis stuff. When they met Elvis (he boasted about having his own jet but the band traveling on a comercial one) Plant told Elvis he liked the way he sings "Treat me like a fool" on Love Me. Then they say goodbye to each other till... ...Elvis started singing "Trrrrreatttt me...." and Plant turned around and joined Elvis. I don't know about any Elvis and Queen meeting though. Neither about Elvis singing anything by Queen. Tie Your Mother Down would have been great for Elvis, with his rock-bluesy thing... Perfect! for Elvis. And even We Will Rock You!, and perhaps Love Of My Life. No way Somebody To Love or Bohemian Rhapsody. He didn't sang anything from Led Zep, am I wrong? But we have Dread Zeppelin http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=dread+zeppelin&oq=dread+ze&gs_l=youtube.1.0.0l10.745.2128.0.5238.8.7.0.1.1.0.140.801.1j6.7.0...0.0...1ac.1.YjkOamRvUeU

He certainly doesn't need promotion to get people to his shows, he sold NYC out in minutes and has Iggy & The Stooges opening for him in LA. The record firm should cover his recording, promotion, production etc costs as well as financing the tour. What was printed in the newspaper article: I was recently approached by Sony, but the offer was so poor that I'd end up paying for everything with my own personal finances yet splitting the profit with the label. It doesn't make sense.

How soon is now? Yes, the end of recording companies is now.... the only possible profit is if whoever finances the record gets a share from the concert tickets. Or movies, video games, t-shirts or anything but not records.

For a while now, I've been wondering when U2, Madonna, Aerosmith would finally hit their commercial slump. It always happens to the best of 'em ... eventually.

I always thought that majors were needed, mainly, for distribution. Was Sony expecting ol' Stephen Patrick to eat those costs, too?

Probably Auds, last new album of stuff was released 2009. I think a label took him on in 2011 for a compilation. Sony probably thought he was desperate for a deal so made him that bad offer, we've all heard stories about record companies.

That pic in your signature block...you see the look on Paul's face? That would be my reaction to Sony if they'd insulted me with a deal-offer like that.

Okay-more trivia! Out of all of Elvis' 31 movies, what was the most common first name for his character, and what was the most common last name? Extra credit for naming the movies. Clue: There are 3 movies with the same first name and 2 movies with the same last name.
Totally guessing: Mike (one of the movies was the World's Fair one) Rodgers (he played Charlie Rodgers in Roustabout) This is a hard one, for sure!
It was "Mike" (World's Fair, Spinout and Fun In Acapulco) Last name: Carpenter (Girls Girls Girls and Change of Habit) (only way I knew this was because I came across a piece of paper where I had written down all his movies and the characters names!)

Releasing it via MP3/download isn't an option either, our Mozzer's a good old fashioned boy - vinyl and CD. P.S Sorry Nancy, the threads gone from one quiffed singer to another.
-
That's okay! Anyone have any Elvis info, trivia, or perhaps a sighting?

What did Peggy Lipton say Elvis was "quite good at?"

The only Elvis sighting I've had was when he came to me in a dream when I was in high-school.

I had one Elvis sighting in dreams too, well, many but one very remarkable. He teached me to sing high notes kind of meaning that I was making it more difficult that it really was. He looked like I was not going to get it anyway, he looked tired... lol BTW, you audi said that Elvis used to write down when he had to breath during recording sessions... I thought I will never ever do that but now I'm thinking bout that, and I understand now why singing my original songs has been harder to me than singing any cover... I never planned breathing. lol And if you sing some cover, that's already "prepared for breathing" * except if you try to sing something famous recorded mixing lots of vocals tracks, like lots of the Queen stuff...

There are several Elvis tracks where there is very little room to breathe: Two examples: "Moody Blue" (1976) and "Night Rider" (1962, especially the bridge -- yikes!)

Thought of another one: "The Next Step Is Love" (1970)
