Pictures in Sigs Getting Silly and distracting
-
Can you not impose a limit on what people can put in their signatures? Some people are adding lots of moving pictures to their sigs and when looking down a big thread and trying to read it is very distracting, can this not be limited?

We did recently review animated signature images, esp how they complied with the forum rules guidelines. And we would invite all members that enjoy placing these in their signature to indeed take close look at the overall effect on pages here, and impose personal limits on the number or size of your signature groups. However, we can also point out that every member has the option to remove signature images from their own viewing by setting their Profile accordingly. Open your Profile, scroll down to the preferences section and chose one of these options in this particular setting: Allow signatures: Yes Yes, but no images No The middle option - Yes, but no images is reasonable compromise if images are troubling you. after making your selection scroll down to the bottom Submit button to effect the changes. I'm not suggesting the availability of this option makes it unneccesary for other members to consider closely their own signature image content - esp when these are animated gif images - these can be unsettling to view. +1 The animated gifs drive me nuts--especially if they have more than one. I don't open the thread on gifs.

I just changed to the middle option and I'm not seeing any signatures. Can you explain the difference between the two options? Thanks, Martin.

By chosing the second option you are still able to see written signatures whereas with the third one you won't see any signature at all, i. e. neither pictures nor text.

gee...I wonder if they are talking about my gif... Big gifs...some have bigger pictures. I was told by Martin mine was ok weeks ago. Some people actually like my dancing Paul.

I Like It oobu24!

I suppose another factor that makes signatures images unsettling is the posting practice of the members concerned. If they are are in the habit of frequent posting to a single topic - making multiple contributions to each single page - say by way of conversation, then the overall impression becomes more overpowering. I have to admit it is the dancing, moving etc pictures that drive me made when i am looking down a thread that is popular and trying to read it all i can see is pictures and it makes it hard to read. I have chosen the option not to see pictures now, so all should be good now

It really annoys me that some members are getting paid to mention products on the paul mccartney forum? That's as crazy as the discounts at Dave's Furniture Emporium...

That is what I have done. The dancing, moving gifs in signatures drive me crazy and make me dizzy. So I open up a thread and somebody has posted the signature gif that is doing that in a message, not in a signature!
