Been checking out recent issues around these matters. I have come across several ways in which your own browser/s might cause issues with these processes. Bookmarks: Ensure your current Favorite/Bookmarks are pointing at the latest correct message board link: http://maccaboard.paulmccartney.com/phpBB2/ Watch the browser address bar closely as older addresses may redirect to the new one but the process may cause issues with old cookies etc If in doubt, delete any old Bookmarks/Favorites and set up new ones pointing to the address shown above. Remember to do this across all browsers on your PC and any sytems/devices that automatically synchronise with your bookmarks/favorites such as mobile phones or tablets/laptops. Toolbars Many providers offer toolbars that store your preferences such as Favorites/Bookmarks on the provider server - such as Google and Yahoo. Again any stored Bookmarks/Favorites remembered on these toolbars may be different to those stored locally within your PC browser settings. Check the toolbar stored bookmarks/favorites/quick link buttons and if need be delete them and reset them to the correct maccaboard address shown above. Saved passwords If your browser has a "Saved Password" for the site log-in it may revert to that when you enter your username automatically - whatever you personally enter at the time. If recent events have had you trying to set new passwords the browser may be reverting to the old one making the log-in fail. Visit your browser saved passwords - in Firefox for example go: Tools - Options - Security - if your PC is set to remember passwords the "remember passwords for sites" option will be checked and you can see those sites listed behind the adjacent "Saved Passwords" button. Delete any listings for the maccaboard and on your next correct password entry the browser will ask if you wish to remember the new password - agree if you still wish to have your password saved in that browser. Remember this applies individually to each browser you use and you will have to do the same with each - IE, Chrome, Safari etc. Cookies The correct functioning of the message board does mean the setting of cookies on your PC - again old cookies linked to older message board links/usernames/passwords may interfere with the functioning of log-in and general site usage. Clear any old cookies related to the message board - either clear all or individually - again in Firefox: Tools - Options - Privacy - provides a link to view and clear individual cookies Once again this needs to be done across all browsers you might use - IE Google Chrome, Safari. Users regularly report issues with one browser while being able to use another correctly and some of that can be related to the various "helpful" features of each individual browser as described above. Unfortunately correcting some of these needs a bit of knowledge and confidence managing your various browser configurations. But as the data is resident within your own individual PC and your various browsers, sadly this may be the cause of some of your individual log-in issues and resetting the individual configurations may be needed. Martin

Hi, could you tell me why is it that when i receive a topic reply notification via email, and click the link, the "Log me on automatically each visit" is not working, and i have to go to "log in" and do it manually?

Sadly no, it's one of the many mysteries surrounding this message board, MPL have looked at the issue to no avail and we have all learnt to live with the issue. However in the near future it is planned that this message board is integrated into an upgrade to the main site with a common log-in point of entry. So this issue should, hopefully, become a thing of the past. Martin, I was going to ask something about the 'log me in automatically' feature as well - so does it not work at all at present? As I've tried ticking it but when I come back to the site, I keep having to log in manually. Cheers.

Your browser can remember your password for you, should you opt for that choice. Then as soon as you start to type your username - auto-complete should kick in and then immediately provide your password. However that does have to be performed manually. But the feature that effectively skips log-in on your PC does not work. Martin

"walliebaby" is experiencing the following issue, and she asked me to share it here, as her email to the webmaster has not been answered, neither has my pm to the Admin: " I can't get to the main site for PM.com. I get a "forbidden: You don't have permission to access / on this server." It's like I've been blocked from Paul's site. The board is part of the site, of course, but I'm after getting to see ANYTHING on Paul's site. "

Hi Audi, Thank you for delivering walliebaby's message, very kind of you to do so. Our technical team is aware of this issue as unfortunately others have reported the same. Martin had experienced this issue as well browsing with Firefox, but was able to gain access to the main site and the message board via IE and his smartphone. He was able to once again gain access browsing with Firefox once he cleared his cookies, specifically choosing the main site and message board cookies for deletion. The standard advice applies, we suggest that members try alternate browsers, clearing cookies, cache, and history. If unsure how to clear cookies, cache or history, one may find step-by-step directions for various browsers here: Mozilla Support: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/home Internet Explorer Support: http://support.microsoft.com/ph/807 Google Chrome Support: http://support.google.com/chrome/?hl=en Please relay to walliebaby that I will forward her report. Hope this helps. Anita

Thanks for looking into this, there must be a setting somewhere. I remember another forum where that was going on and they changed a setting to fix that. It really is a major annoyance especially if you don't post a new message and therefore don't log in and...then you stopped getting new notifications 😞

Hi, Unfortunately, that issue continues to exist. We recognize that learning to live with the issue is not a solution and we realize that it has been a while since the onset of that issue. Please understand that the message board moderators and administrators are not part of the technical team. Like you, we are also at their mercy and are subjected to the same problematic issues. Along with Martin, it was my understanding that the integration of the message board into the main site was the reasoning behind leaving certain issues unaddressed as they would no longer be applicable once the integration was complete. To further address your concerns, I have no idea if the intended plan of integration remains in place. Please forgive me for addressing a question that you have posed to Martin, but Martin retired from his mod/admin position back in December 2013. So sorry that I cannot be of more help to you. Hopefully the outstanding issues will be resolved at some point in the near future. Anita
