    • RE: Sound Check

I went to the Paris one in 2016, also Hotsound Standing and the way it worked is that we went out of the room after the soundcheck and then started queuing up just outside the entrance to the venue (not outside). Then they let the Early Entry Standing in and they queued up behind us. At one point they let us in (must have been around 6pm for a concert due to start at 9pm) and it was a mad rush to the stage (they told us to go slowly but that didn't stop anyone, hehe) and I managed to get a spot on the rail dead center, barely !

I doubt any of the Early Entry Standing managed to get a spot on the rail but they would have been row 2 or 3.

At Paris 2018 the standing area was BEHIND the seated area (where I had a seat) so the people who had an Early Entry Standing I talked to (they had a little goodies bag) were not super happy as they were pretty far away and had paid more than I did for my seat I could walk to at the last minute. There were no Hotsound Standing fortunately, only first row and rows 3-6, like this year.

      Hope that helps !

So TM and the LaDefenseArena website started their presales this morning but not much of interest unsurprisingly. No "Parterre Prestige" for instance...

Got the Hot Sound package! First time doing the soundcheck & can't wait to finally experience it for myself

Nice, which one ? First 3 rows on the side or rows 3 to 6 (location not given) ? I did it in 2016 when there was hope of getting the rail by running quickly and I made it...barely 😉

Got myself a seated floor this time again but unlike in 2018 where I was right in the back in front of the desk I'll be closer to the center side of block E. I passed on the very mich off-center spots in row 5 in block C offered in Veepee

As a side note the seated floor is WAY bigger than in 2018, 50% bigger actually with rows extending to 44 vs 28. That's too bad for the people paying 150€ in there as well as for GA that will be pushed back even further. Well at least they're not selling "early entry GA VIP packages" this time around. People who'd gone for that in 2018 were really upset...

      Here's a little mark-up I did with a line showing 2018 vs 2020 and seat numbers.

Thanks, yes I did and was able to verify that by looking at the feedback I posted at the time ! Now I just need to track it down, hehe...can't be too far from the tote bag 😉

Well in case anyone was holding their breath while I was looking for my Hotsound 2016 lithograph...you can start breathing again as I found it completely by accident while sorting some stuff the other day ! I know why I couldn't find it a couple of years ago, it's because it's TINY ! Not even sure it's an A4 format and I was looking for something like an A2 poster 😉 Oh well glad to have it back and tucked above the bag I got in 2016 !

    • RE: Paris, France - La Défense Arena (previously U-Arena) - 11/28 - CONFIRMED

That was a good show indeed, same highlights there, LEI and FMTY, songs I hadn't heard live of course 😉 These horns did pack a lot of punch and it was a nice update for a show that's basically been the same since 2009. Glad we got spared the Jimmy Hendrix story this time around. Also interesting that he keeps refering to John as his "friend" and to George as his "baby brother" (works a bit better as "frérot" in French)...well he won't change now.

When ES came out in September and seeing the "tired/corny" NYGC perforamnce I thought this would be the last "New Album/New Tour" sequence but now I'm not so sure, the man's a legend who makes us feel like we're still 20 ! Rock on !

Not sure how wild the audience will be able to sound tonight, this is after all an indoor rugby stadium with a roof that's very HIGH ! It didn't strike me when I saw the Stones last year but for Roger Waters in June there was this subdued "noise reduction" feel when you walking into the stadium.

Anyway, time to be on my way for my 9th Macca concert since 1989 and, well I'll say it, likely the last one. Even this one was a bit of a stretch TBH...after I went "all in" with a "Soundcheck" in 2016 and managed to grab a spot on the rail, impossible to top that. Had I not managed to get a seat on the floor I would have given it a miss.

I'll be there too...this could be the last time !

Got a "stressful" email yesterday saying the show started at 8:00pm and that it was advised to get there ASAP as security would be tight...Gates open at 6:00pm apparently.

PS - as a side note, this version of the forum is really pi$$ poor compared to the old one, hard to follow any conversation properly, errors everywhere, shows how much MPL cares about the "community" I suppose, outside of figuring out how much to milk the fans to the max.

    • RE: Paul is the only one who can stop this ticket rip-off

Even without going to these "extremes" that obviously will leave honest fans who can't attend in the cold, at the very least TM should NOT allow people to resell tickets months in advance with a simple click and then just show them as available tickets when you go to the page for the show. This is an absolutely dreadful way of handling things.

And again it's apparently just a phone call away if Paul (or his management) want to prevent this from happening, as per the TM rules. Obviously he couldn't care less and isn't going to rock the TM boat that guarantees him and his clique an X million $ guarantee for each show.

Right but how is that related to what's being discussed in this thread ? And good luck finding a ticketdrop when TM are showing all these "verified resale" tickets at extortionate prices by default. Everyone knows these are not legitimate fans who can't make it to the show, the prices are ridiculous and the shows are in 9+ months time.

Interestingly they have a rule https://help.ticketmaster.com/s/article/How-do-I-sell-tickets that says : " "Fan-to-Fan Resale may be removed at any time at the event, tour or venue’s discretion." - So what's Paul's waiting for to have them pull the plug on this nonsense, if anyone can to it, it's him !

    • RE: Paul is the only one who can stop this ticket rip-off

So I took at look at Ticketmaster for some of the US dates that have already gone one sale (Raleigh, Lexiington) and the only tickets available seem to be "Verified Resale" at extortionate prices! It's just as if you were looking at ViaGoGo or Stubhub or whatever, except that now it looks official ! How can Ticketmaster endorse this type of behavior ?! Well I suppose they take a big fat commission (25% added to the price of the seller, wow...) so that helps turn a blind eye I'm sure but unlike for ViaGoGo, the artists can't say, "hey it's out of my control what's going on there" ! Besides, who checks that it's not just TM themselves selling these tickets directly on top of the already extortionate prices they charge for the "Platinum", "VIP packaged", etc...

      All this is pretty disgusting...
